Superintendent’s Corner Why Lewis? Reflecting on my more than 33 years in construction—17 of which have been at Lewis—I still remember the first project that I worked with Lewis on. The project was the Lillis Business complex in Eugene and I was the HVAC subcontractor Foreman. I had worked on numerous projects with other GC’s and subcontractors and my experiences along the way were a mixed bag, ranging from good to awful. When I started working with Lewis, I quickly discovered that our approach to project management was based on teamwork. Lewis worked with all subs, including myself, as equal partners and expressed that we were all here for the same reasons. This was not a view shared by most GC’s I had worked with previously. Because of the positive experience I had, I did not hesitate to accept the opportunity to work with Lewis as a Superintendent when the opportunity was made available. I cannot express enough how important it is for all members of our crews to be treated with respect and as critical members of the team. To this day I still do everything I can to uphold Lewis’ reputation as a fair and equal trade partner to all subcontractors. A little teamwork goes a long way. Corey Reith Superintendent, Portland
