ROMAN DOMUS - INTERIOR RENDER Rhino 7 • Photoshop • Vray 5

INT 310: Professor Salvatore Consenza Fall 2021

The elements that I utilized when producing this render, consisted of the following: clerestory windows, capitals, frieze, columns, arcades, arches, keystones, and a centralized fountain. These elements were greatly influenced by Classical, Roman, Greek, and Romanesque styles of the past. The render is of a modern-day version of the classical Roman domus or house of the past. I decorated my render with various old-style materials and furnishings that are considered timeless among architects and interior designers. The clerestory windows, at the top of the render, floods the interior with light and creates a great sense of ambience among the space. In the past, clerestory windows were used in great halls and churches. The clerestory windows were meant to be a symbolic representation of heaven. The columns and capitals are a gateway of passage between the threshold of the domus in the render. The threshold leads into the center courtyard with a fountain that is in the center, and an arcade throughout the perimeter. The arcade provides a symmetrical balance to the courtyard space and overall space of the interior.
