Leadership & Scholarship Deirdre Graddick Heart of Service Scholarship The Deirdre Graddick Heart of Service Scholarship was established in honor of Soror Deirdre Graddick. In 2018 while serving as cochairman of the Cotillion, she experienced some health challenges. After a few medical exams it was determined that Deirdre needed a heart transplant. Throughout the program, she continued to check in on the progress of the Pearls to make sure they stuck with the program and did their service. Deirdre is a servant leader, and you could find her at almost every program and service activity for the sorority. She also serves faithfully for Spelman College.

Linda P. Calloway Leadership Award The Linda P. Calloway Leadership Scholarship was established to award young leaders for their active community engagement and leadership skills. Linda P. Calloway was a charter member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Sigma Omega Omega Chapter. She was a supporter of education for all children and a leader in the community, the sorority, and her church. The family of Linda P. Calloway has also established a Legacy Scholarship open to young women pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Man of Honor Essay Contest The Man of Honor Essay Contest was established for young men who serve as escorts for the debutantes. Each Escort was invited to write an essay about the importance of leadership and community service. Men should share how they have been a leader and participated in a service project that has been impactful.

Legacy Scholarships Legacy of Pearls Foundation in collaboration with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. offers a variety of scholarships for students to further their education. For a list of scholarships, please visit www.legacyofpearls.org/scholarships .

Greetings! On behalf of the members of the Legacy of Pearls Foundation, Inc., it is my honor to welcome you to the 2022 T.E.A. Rose Debutante Cotillion & Scholarship Program. Thank you for your presence as we recognize and introduce the T.E.A. Rose Debutantes: Phenomenal Pearls. Congratulations and best wishes to the exquisite Debutantes, our Pearls! The Cotillion serves as the culmination of the 2022 T.E.A. Rose Debutante Cotillion & Scholarship Program where the participants are presented to society. The Debutantes engaged in a six-month journey that consisted of leadership development, confidence building, college preparation, etiquette training, money management, branding and community service while still navigating through the challenges faced due to COVID19 and its lasting impacts. We were very excited to have the Escorts join us this year and participate in some of the workshops/activities. It has been truly exciting to interact with such a group of intelligent, talented, and delightful young ladies and gentlemen in person again. We hope we were able to bring some normalization back into your lives. Pearls and Escorts thank you for your dedication. We salute and thank the parents of the Debutantes and Escorts who allowed us the opportunity to work with their daughters and sons. This night would not have been a success without your support, time, and commitment. Legacy of Pearls Foundation, Inc. (LOPF) is the renowned non-for-profit 501c3 that works in partnership with Sigma Omega Omega Chapter. LOPF’s mission is to support the families and citizens of Douglas County and surrounding areas with programs that create vibrant and healthy communities. The Legacy of Pearls Foundation, Inc. succeeds through the generosity of friends, corporate and community partners, and people like you. Your generous donations allow LOPF the opportunity to provide educational assistance and resources through our scholarships, community programs and activities. The success of the 2022 T.E.A. Rose Debutante Cotillion & Scholarship Program would not be possible without the ladies who are members of the Cotillion committee. I extend a special thank you to the Cotillion Chairman, Dellena Priester, and the Cotillion Committee for organizing and implementing the entire program. The team continued to stay innovative and creative, which has been instrumental with a hybrid program. Your vision, leadership, dedication, hard work and patience is exceptional and appreciated. Finally, thank you to our members, sponsors, community partners, patrons, volunteers and all those who support Legacy of Pearls Foundation. The T.E.A Rose Cotillion would not be possible without you. Again, congratulations, Pearls and Escorts on a job well done. Enjoy this evening and savor the moment. Welcome to all in attendance, and it is my hope that you enjoy this magical night. Respectfully,

Latanya Boatwright Legacy of Pearls Foundation, Inc., President

Greetings! On behalf of the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Sigma Omega Omega Chapter, it is my distinct honor to welcome you to the T.E.A. Rose Debutante Cotillion. Though our world has changed as we have all grappled with the devastating effects of the global pandemic, this special group of intelligent, resourceful, and determined young ladies refused to be dispirited by the insurmountable challenges we are all facing. They are to be commended for their impeccable character traits of perseverance, dedication, commitment, and ingenuity. For several months, they have gathered to build genuine relationships with each other while also learning invaluable social skills and engaging in service projects. Parents, you are to be commended for your unwavering support and commitment to your children’s social development as they prepare to finalize their high school experience. I had the pleasure of interacting with each of your daughters and sons (escorts) when I provided their dining etiquette, business etiquette, and social graces training. They are simply amazing young adults! I was deeply impressed by their thoughtfulness, intelligence, ambition, and kind hearts. As such, I congratulate you, dear parents, for raising such wonderful and accomplished young adults. We also extend many thanks to everyone who supported the debutantes’ fundraising efforts, volunteered their gifts and talents by presenting training sessions and workshops, purchased tickets to witness this grand occasion, and offered words of encouragement and support to these incredible young ladies. The magical moments of this entire experience have all been made possible by Mrs. Dellena Priester, Cotillion Chairman, and her extraordinary Cotillion Committee. Congratulations, ladies, on a job well done! Your creativity, innovation, and diligence are unparalleled. Thank you for casting a vision we could all believe in and for refusing to concede to challenging circumstances. To the 2022 T.E.A. Rose Debutantes, know that we are proud of you and look forward to the extraordinary contributions you will all make to society. Though our final event culminates tonight, know that we will always be here for you as you navigate your path and cultivate the dreams of your hearts. Keep your focus and work your plans because you are all destined for greatness! Soaring in Service,

Nia M. Brown President

Welcome to our 2022 T.E.A. Rose Debutante Cotillion and Scholarship Program. I am honored to celebrate my second year as the chairman of the program. Last year was an unprecedented year as we were hit with the Covid-19 virus and a worldwide pandemic, and we were forced to meet in a virtual setting. This year we entered the program under a hybrid approach where we were able to meet virtually for a period and then meet face to face for most of our events. Meeting face to face made a huge difference and we quickly learned that our pearls and escorts really needed and enjoyed the inperson meetings. As the committee chairman, I would like to thank the entire T.E.A. Rose Cotillion Program Committee for helping to ensure that this year’s program was a success. Each committee member gave of their time and talent, and worked tireless to make sure that our workshops, community service, and the overall debutante experience was done in excellence. Over the 6-month period, under the theme of “Phenomenal Pearls” our debutantes participated in workshops ranging from etiquette and mental health to public speaking. They participated in several community service projects where they collected items and write letters of gratitude. Finally, while raising scholarship funds, they also participated in paint parties and several girl-talk sessions where they were able to have fun and bond with each other. I would to thank The Legacy of Pearls Foundation and The Sigma Omega Omega Chapter for their support of our cotillion program. The program started in 2019 with 4 young pearls and last year we hosted 32 pearls and this year we hosted 21 pearls and 13 escort. As a premier program on the west side of Atlanta, we will strive to continue to grow our program and offer social, cultural, service, and leadership opportunities to our participants. Finally, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the parents, family members, patrons, and all our supporters. The success of our program tonight is because of you and that we are thankful. I am so proud of each one of our debutantes! I am looking forward to watching them grow up to be future leaders. I hope that what we have poured into them, they will remember a lifetime! Sincerely,

Dellena Priester 2020-2022 Cotillion Chairman Legacy of Pearls Foundation, Inc.
