The Deirdre Graddick Heart of Service Scholarship was established in honor of Soror Deidre Graddick. In 2018 while serving as the co-chairman of the Cotillion, she experienced some health challenges. After a few medical exams, it was determined that Deidre needed a heart transplant. Throughout the program, she continued to check in on the progress of the Pearls to make sure they continued with the program and did their service. Deidre was a servant leader and you could find her at almost every program and service activity for the sorority. She also served faithfully for her beloved Spelman College.
The Linda P. Calloway Leadership Award Scholarship was established to award young leaders for their active community engagement and leadership skills. Linda P. Calloway was a charter member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Sigma Omega Omega Chapter. She was a supporter of education for all children and a leader in the community, the sorority and her church. The family of Linda P. Calloway has also established a Legacy Scholarship open to young women pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The Man of Honor Essay Contest was established for young men who served as escorts for the debutantes. Each Escort was invited to write an essay about the importance of leadership and community service. The young men share how they have been a leader and have participated in Service projects that have been impactful in the community.
Legacy of Pearls Foundation in collaboration with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Sigma Omega Omega Chapter offers a variety of scholarships for students to further their education. For a list of scholarships, please visit www.legacyofpearls.org/scholarships.

Warm Regards,
Quantindra Smith Quantindra Smith PresidentGreetings,
On behalf of the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Sigma Omega Omega Chapter, it is my distinct honor to welcome you to the 2024T.E.A. Rose Debutante Cotillion. The extraordinary group of young ladies making their debut tonight have demonstrated perseverance, strength of character, and impressive leadership qualities.
Parents, you are to be commended for your unwavering support and commitment to your children’s social development as they prepare to finalize their high school experience. I had the pleasure of interacting with each of your daughters and sons (escorts) when I provided their dining etiquette training and was delighted to witness their intelligence, ambition, and curiosity about life. As such, I congratulate you, dear parents, for raising such remarkable young adults.
We also extend many thanks to everyone who supported the Debutantes’ fundraising efforts, volunteered their gifts and talents by presenting training sessions and workshops, purchased tickets to witness this grand occasion, and offered words of encouragement and support to our students.
The magical moments of this entire experience have all been made possible by the extraordinary Cotillion Committee, led by Ms. Tracelyn Tuck Newman. Congratulations, ladies, on a job well done! We appreciate your generous spirits, countless sacrifices, and willingness to serve.
To my darling Debutantes, we look forward to witnessing the extraordinary contributions you will all make to society. Though our final event culminates tonight, know that we will always be here for you as you navigate your path and cultivate the dreams of your hearts. Keep your focus and work your plans because you are all destined for greatness!
Greetings and welcome to the 2024 T E A Rose Cotillion Scholarship Program We are excited to celebrate The Empowered Pearls Debutantes and their escorts with all of our family, friends and supporters Today’s celebration will go down in the books as the largest group of young ladies and young men to forge their way through the LOPF Cotillion program. With 47 young ladies and 35 young men, the committee took the program to heart and didn’t look back. This year ’ s program empowered our teens with learning life skills, community service, laughter, and dancing. They have proven to be resilient future leaders who have finished the program and made us all very proud.
As the committee chairman, I am privileged to have worked with such a great committee. Being a part of the T.E.A. Rose Cotillion Scholarship Program is no easy feat, but you all rallied around me to help make it better for us all. Your showing up, setting up, coordinating and facilitating workshops, taking pictures, giving rides, picking up or setting up snacks, stepping in whenever I called, whipping this program booklet into production and so much more didn’t go unnoticed by me or the kids. Thank you for dedicating six months of your time to serving our youth. Thank you to the foundation leadership for entrusting me and the committee with such a valuable program.
To my Men of Honor (escorts), I could not have asked for a better group of young men! I am so proud that each of you decided to join us this year, and for those that are juniors maybe we will see you again next year. When you signed up, your commitment was undeniable. Nothing is more appreciated in a man than him being a man of his word. I truly hope that you enjoyed your time with us. Thank you each for just being who you were to make this program successful.
Parents, the greatest reward as a parent is our teens going out and being their best selves in public I applaud you all! This was a great group of teens with some really good attitudes It is my hope that at least one thing they learned here with us will help them go out into the world and be productive citizens. Thank you all for your commitment to our program as well, we could not have done it without you.
My beautiful Empowered Pearls, wear your brand with pride. You have been given a foundation that should be unbreakable. Love yourself, get the most scholarship money that you can, think your way through every challenge, if it doesn’t feel right - it’s not, start saving now, lead with purpose, get yourself a mentor and never ever reduce your price tag! I enjoyed you all and I’ll never forget karaoke. My junior pearls, thank you for making me cry. It made my day! I’ll look forward to seeing you next year!
I am grateful for this opportunity!
