

High School Clubs 2022-2023
Advocacy for Allergies – In this club, we will share personal experiences about what it means to ha allerg y/food intolerance. We will talk about what we can do to improve allerg y-friendly food in the school! Allerg y-friendly snacks (obviously) will be provided at ever y club meeting!
Animals Outreach and Advocacy Club – If you care about animals, this is the club for you. Members will lear n about animal abuse and mistreatment and discuss what can be done to combat it. We will be par tnering with Paws Crossed of Westchester
Architectur e and 3D Ar t Club – In the Architecture and 3D Ar t club, you will be able to lear n about architecture and 3D ar t and be able to practice the skills you lear n with different materials and projects. You can also lear n how to use online architecture and interior design apps. T his is also a space to experiment with 3D design and ar t.
Baking for Better –Love baking, spending time with friends or doing Chesed? Join Baking for the Better! We will be baking desser ts and treats that will be donated to food pantries in our community. You are able to receive community ser vice hours. Stay tuned for more infor mation to come.
Better the Wor ld (BTW) – T he Better the World club is a club for students who want to be involved in different chesed projects throughout the year. T his club will meet once ever y few weeks to do simple in-school projects such as making cards for children in hospitals or baking cookies for a food pantr y. T his club is also a g reat way to ear n community ser vice hours!

Boys Volleyball Lea gue – T he main g oal of this club is to give access to a volleyball league for boys. I have heard many boys say that they would love a chance to play volleyball, so I thought we should star t a league. It will be competitive and fun for spectators and players. Teams can be anyone you want and you will make your own teams of 6 (for now, may be chang ed to a smaller number).
Cinematics – Are you a film and TV fan? Do you love watching new releases, both at home and in theaters? Come join Cinematics! We will discuss new movies and TV shows as they release, and even watch some new releases tog ether in theaters! T his will be an amazing club for all movie/TV fans, whether you're a full-out fanatic or a casual watcher!
CODA – CODA stands for Co-Occur ring Disorder Awareness. A co-occur ring disorder is when somebody str ug gles with mental health issues as well as dr ug or alcohol abuse. CODA, the Har ris project, is an org anization to spread awareness of Co-Occur ring Disorders. T his club will suppor t the Har ris Project org anization through fundraisers and spreading awareness. We will take action and suppor t those in need.
Competitive Musical Chair s Lea gue – Express your competitive edg e in the most trending spor t on Twitter, competitive musical chairs. Members will demonstrate their skills as they jam to music and g o chair-to-chair in an all-out battle for glor y. "Love thy chair as thyself." (Chairilations 22:39) Many g rades will be brought tog ether to have fun and bond and strengthen diversity in our kehilah
Culture Club – On a daily basis, most high school students will g o straight home to do homework, and won't give themselves the oppor tunity to experience what the world has to offer. As one of the long est r unning school clubs,
members will par ticipate in events that establish a love for the ar ts and enter tainment business. T he Culture Club seeks to share meaningful cultural experiences with the student body.
Debate Club – Discuss and debate different topics ranging from school problems to political issues. T his is a g reat way to eng ag e with topics that you are passionate about. T he Debate Club seeks to create a safe environment where people can respectfully debate and argue on behalf of their opinions on numerous topical, political, and social issues. Members aim to help each other for m solid arguments, g ain confidence in speaking in front of a larg e g roup, and lear n to acce pt those with opposing arguments. Join the fun!
Dungeons and Dra gons Club – Transpor t yourself into a fantasy world of drag ons and heroes and villains. Dung eons and Drag ons is a role-playing g ame in which each person plays a character and people work tog ether towards a common g oal of finishing a quest. Anyone can join. No prior experience necessar y.
Dorot Intergenerational Chess – High school volunteers can join Dorot’s Interg enerational Chess prog ram. Meet amazing senior citizens in our community and bond over a love of snacks, chess, and conversation! Students must know how to play chess. Film and Visual Ar ts Club – T his club is for anyone who enjoys any ar t for m, and likes to talk about their favorite films. If you've ever had the desire to find symbolism in world-renowned films, or just want to talk about your favorite childhood show, this club is for you! Mr Eichten and I will create a comfor table and safe environment so ever y member can talk freely about their opinions; there are no right or wrong answers.
Finance Club – T his club educates and helps students understand how the financial system works by exploring how stocks are valued and which investment strategies work best for par ticular markets. Club includes monthly speaker series with professionals in the finance community.
Football Club – Are you a football gur u? T he Football Club is a relaxed and fun way to talk football with fellow students and share knowledg e about the spor t so many love. Members will analyze football both as fans and from a fantasy football perspective. Activities will include weekly debates, NFL Pick‘em, playoff brackets, mock drafts, and more.
Friendly Fridge Club – Open the (fridg e) door to chesed! Members will work as a team to make and deliver food to local community fridg es, which supply fresh food to those who are food insecure. Join the community fridg e movement!
Garden Club – T he Garden Club works on bringing the g reenhouse into working order and maintaining the plants T he g reenhouse is full of many different kinds of exotic plants that are being g rown out so that we can have a fundraiser sale later this year. We both care for the plants and do hands-on work creating and improving systems in the g reenhouse like the ir rig ation system. Since in the club we will be working on and improving the g reenhouse, people who are at the meetings g et community ser vice credit. T he club meets just about daily during kehilah, when we work on projects or do simple maintenance. In the club we will also be star ting seeds to g row in the outdoor g arden during the spring and summer.
Grassroot Soccer – Org anize an annual soccer tour nament to raise funds and awareness for the charity org anization Grassroot Soccer. Grassroot Soccer is an adolescent health org anization that uses the power of soccer as a medium to educate at-risk youth across the developing world on how to become ag ents of chang e in their communities and overcome their g reatest health challeng es such as malaria, AIDS, and now Covid-19.
Goodfellas Club – Do g ood with g ood people. Join a chesed-minded g roup of students who care dee ply about building community and changing the world with one g ood deed at a time. All are welcome.
Health and Fitness – Help educate and create a healthier and more active student body. Members will eng ag e with different kinds of exercise and diets to become the healthiest versions of ourselves
Hungarian Club – We are g oing to teach kids about Hung arian culture and languag e. We will cook food, teach the languag e, and answer any questions people have. Our g oal is to educate others about the culture and what it's like to be an exchang e student in America. We are super excited to have this oppor tunity!
Interior Design Club – Interior design club is a way for students who love org anization, design, and architecture to come tog ether and help make the school the best it can be! We will help make different areas of the school be the most functional and well-designed as they can be. From org anizing bookshelves to lear ning about the best way a space can be designed to ensure focus, the interior design club will have something for ever yone. And, of course, volunteer hours will be given to anyone who helps beautify our school.)
Israel Club – Am Yisrael Chai! Members will meet to discuss and debate a variety of topics reg arding the State of Israel. T hese rang e from Israel advocacy, technological advancement, combating antsemitism and anti-Israel sentiment on colleg e campuses, the histor y of Israel, the Israel-Palestinian conf lict, and more
Judge a Book by its Cover Club – Take a chance on a random book each month and join other literature risk-takers as they meet to debrief the book that was read. Will it be fiction or nonfiction? Science or myster y? Come find out!
Lifeguards Club – Helping supply lifeguards to the national shor tag e!
Le-K ef Club– T his club is for fun. It is to help students relieve some tension from their stress-filled lives. We will play boardg ames, have music playing, and do activities such as tie dye, watch a funny movie, and more
Medical Club – Members will create an environment where students who are interested in the field of medicine and health can join tog ether to share their enthusiasm for the future of health and medicine. Members will be involved in research projects and online meetings with exper ts in the medical field and/or people with medical experience. T he club will volunteer at hospitals within Westchester County and eng ag e with various charities and medical org anizations in our area.
Math Club – T he mission of this club is to lear n and practice SAT/ACT math for the no calculator and calculator section and to lear n knowledg e we can actually use on the SAT or ACT.
Math Team – For this club, we intend to do activities with members that include math puzzles, riddles, answering questions from previous math exams, and discussing math overall in an in-de pth manner. It will be fun and interactive and bring to students a new joy to lear ning math.
Midnight Run – Midnight Run is an org anization that sends g roups of volunteers into New York City at night to distribute food, clothing, and toiletries to people living on the streets. More impor tantly, the r un gives these people a dignifying experience. T he simple question of "what’s your name?" is something they may not have been asked in days, so conversing with them for even five minutes can make their day. It is tr uly a life-changing experience meeting and hearing the stories of those we often pass by on the streets.
Model U.N. – Model U.N. provides a fun and educational oppor tunity for students to act as different countries in the U.N. and have mock conversations about pressing global issues. While some research is required, it is a really lighthear ted activity and a g reat experience for ever yone, whether they have prior experience or not; workshops will be held for those who need them or are unfamiliar with the procedure.
Outdoor Adventure Club – T he Outdoor Adventure Club is for students who love the outdoors and feel like they don't have enough oppor tunities to be outside during the school year. In this club, we are g oing to take advantag e of the nature around us by exploring, g oing on hikes and more!
Ping Pong Club - Our club's pur pose is to help kids socialize during kehilah instead of doing nothing. We will provide free food to enjoy and eat to be full for the long rides home (we will of course kee p in mind and respect ever yone's allergies). We will also be playing ping pong and have optional tour naments.
Politics Club - Are you interested in politics and want to lear n how to g et involved? Are you interested in cur rent events and want to debate? Come join the Politics club! In this club, we will meet with cur rent and for mer politicians to lear n about their rise to power, while also discussing pressing topics of the time and discussing our opinions and research with one another
Prog ramming Club – We will g o over prog ramming skills, puzzles, and other exercises to make coding fun for ever yone. T his will improve students' problem-solving skills and create a nice community for anyone.
Rainbow Alliance – A safe space for LGBTQIA+ students and allies to come tog ether. Meetings are welcoming to all in need of a de-stress space and suppor t system. Members host fun activities and occasionally g roup outings! Join Rainbow Alliance; our door is always open!
Robotics Team – Robotics has been at this school for years. Ever y year the team competes and brings home a few trophies to commemorate their wins, but for the past few years, competitions have ceased, and meets have been lackluster. T his year, the Robotics Team is deter mined to bring home the trophy, and remind the school that we are still here. In the Robotics Team, you will lear n to work as a team, improve your coding and fabrication skills, and make g reat friends along the way. Please join us as we reign in a new ag e!
Science Research Education Club – Calling ever yone who is interested in research in the scientific field! In our club we will lear n skills on how to conduct research, write papers, and hear from speakers in different fields. We believe that research is vital and want to make sure ever yone who wants to conduct it has the skills to do so. Topics that we will explore include medicine and climate chang e, and we will also plan events/activities per taining to what students want to lear n about.
Shar sheret – Sharsheret is an org anization dedicated to assisting Jewish women and their families who are str ug gling with breast or ovarian cancer. T he Sharsheret Club hosts many events to create awareness for the org anization and to make exciting projects that are sent to families str ug gling with cancer. T he Sharsheret Club also takes par t in Pink Day, a national event dedicated to raising awareness for how teenag ers and other individuals can help in the fight ag ainst breast cancer
Students for Refugees – A lot of new families will be moving into Westchester from Afghanistan, having left ever ything behind due to the Taliban takeover, and the Students for Refug ees club seeks members who understand the responsibility that comes with welcoming them into the community. Members will work with students from other schools to help suppor t the Afghan refug ees who will be moving into the area. If you’re chesed-minded, this
club is for you! Help lead coat drives, fundraisers, and events for the new families. T his student g roup will be just one branch under the leadership of the Hear ts and Homes for Refug ees org anization.
Student Mental Health Awareness Committee – Join a compassionate g roup of students who care about destigmatizing mental illness and educating others about the impor tance of mental health.
Sur vivor Club – Our Sur vivor club will consist of discussing the new Sur vi vor e pisodes, rewatching crazy tribal councils, and eating delicious snacks! Each week ever yone will place a guess on who will be eliminated; whoever has the most cor rect guesses will win Sur vi vor merch!
Taylor Swift Club – Our g oal is to spread our love for Taylor Swift to the entire Leffell School community. We hope to bring joy, inspire creativity, and share g ood music with ever yone who joins. In addition, we hope to create a safe space for swifties to exist without fear of being made fun of or shamed, while also indoctrinating innocent students into the swiftie fandom.
Tech Club – Par ticipate in conversations and eng ag e in debates about different technolog y in the moder n world. Who should join? Anyone interested in technolog y, or even related topics such as: video g ames, CGI, NFT's, cr yptocur rency, and more. Lear n the top 10 things in tech to buy now, Apple’s latest iPhone and updates, and how simple tech companies g row to be trillion-dollar cor porations
The Lef fell AFYA Club – T he mission of the Leffell AFYA club is to provide students who want to make an impact globally with the oppor tunity to volunteer with an org anization that reaches those in need far beyond our school community. T he AFYA Foundation collects unused medical supplies and equipment from throughout the New York metro area and gives them a second life by shipping these critical materials to under-resourced and compromised health systems all over the globe. T he club will provide easier access to suppor t AFYA through our school community both by r unning personal care collection drives at school and by providing oppor tunities for Leffell students to sor t medical and personal care supplies at AFYA.
The Pleasantville Cotta ge Club – A club that org anizes drives and volunteering days with kids who have been removed from their homes for several reasons, and now live on the Pleasantville Cottag es campus. Chesed hours will be issued for par ticipants.
TLC Club - Help provide tender and loving care to those in the community who need it. In this club we hope to connect students to be able to g et involved with the medical field at a young ag e. We hope to create a strong relationship between T he Leffell School and local hospitals and charities through acts of student g enerosity and welcome those org anizations into our kehilah kedoshah
