Somedegreeofstress,worry,and anxietyarenormalaspartofthepreadolescentand adolescentphasesoflife.It’s partofevery phaseoflife, isn’tit? However,ifyou arenoticingthat yourchild seemsburdened bytheirworries andanxieties,or thattheirdaily life,interactions, andschoolorsocialsuccessarebeing affected,it’stimetolookintoitalittle moredeeply.
Agreatfirstplacetostartisavisit toyourpediatrician.Pediatriciansare accustomedtoevaluatingachildwith anxiety,alongwiththeparentsand
thechild,helpingtofigureoutjust howseveretheproblemis,andwhat measurescanbetakentohelp.
Whileyouarewaitingforthat appointment,orifyouarejustnot sureandwanttotrysomemethodsof preventionandtreatmentathome first,herearesomesuggestions.
1)Ensureadequatesleep. Insufficientsleepinchildrenandadolescentsisdirectlyrelatedtolevelsof stress,anxiety,andevendepression.
2)Decreaseandlimitscreentime. Studiesproveoverandoveragainthat themoretimekidsspendontheir phones,computers,anddevices,especiallyonsocialmedia,themorelikely theyaretobecomestressedordevelopanxietyanddepression.Included inthisrecommendationistotakethe phoneoutofyourchild’sbedroomat night.
3)Ensuredailyexercise.Exercise releasesthebody‘snaturalendorphins,whichleadstofeelinghappier ingeneral.Dailyexercisealsoleadsto betterqualitysleep.
