ALLO UND WILLKOMMEN zu unserer Kollektion für den Herbst / Winter 2020. Es war ein außergewöhnliches und aufwühlendes Jahr, das auch an uns nicht spurlos vorübergegangen ist. Und dennoch möchten wir uns als

allererstes bei Euch bedanken. Dafür, dass Ihr uns auch in diesen schwierigen Zeiten supportet habt, uns soviel positives Feedback gegeben habt und uns gezeigt habt, dass Euch politische Themen ebenso wichtig sind wie uns – und dass sie sich von der Textil- und Modeindustrie auch überhaupt nicht trennen lassen. Konkret gezeigt

hat sich das insbesondere auch an all dem Zuspruch, den Ihr uns nach unserer Stellungnahme zum Mord an George Floyd und den Black Lives Matter Protesten gegeben habt.

Diesen Umständen entsprechend setzt unser neues Lookbook seinen Fokus

diesmal ein wenig anders. Neben der klassischen Übersicht aller neuen Trends und Qualitäten gibt es diesmal auch einen längeren Beitrag zu den Verflechtungen von Covid und der Textilindustrie sowie zu den Ideen und Chancen für ein solidarischeres Morgen – denn auch, wenn wir nicht alle gleichermaßen von den Auswirkungen betroffen sind, so können wir doch gemeinsam Einfluss darauf nehmen, wie die Zukunft aussehen wird.

HELLO AND WELCOME to our collection for Autumn / Winter 2020. It was an extraordinary and stirring year, which also left its mark on us. And yet, first of all, we would like to thank you. For supporting us in these difficult times, giving us so much positive feedback and showing us that political issues are as important to you as to us – and that they cannot be separated from the textile and fashion industry at all. Specifically, this was particularly evident in all the encouragement you gave us after our statements on the murder of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter protests.

In view of these circumstances, our new lookbook focuses a little differently this

time. In addition to the classic overview of all new trends and qualities, this time there is also a longer text on the interrelationships between Covid and the textile industry as well as the ideas and opportunities for a more solidary – because even if we are not all equally affected by the effects we can influence how the future will look.

MARTIN Yolanda und ich haben uns für den Namen »Cloudwool« entschieden, nachdem wir versucht haben, über einen Namen nachzudenken, der die Leichtigkeit und die innovative Zusammensetzung des Materials widerspiegelt. Wir haben über einige lustige Namen wie Tangle-Tex diskutiert, aber Yolandas Mutter schlug den Namen »Cloudwool« vor und das blieb wirklich hängen. Wolken sind leicht und flauschig wie unser Material und eine Wolke ist letztlich auch das Motiv für Schafe, das MARTIN BRAMBLEY

WAS IST DIE TECHNIK UND WIE UNTERSCHEIDET SIE SICH VON ANDEREN STOFFEN? MARTIN Die Technik zur Herstellung von »Cloudwool« unterscheidet sich stark von gewebten Materialien. Das innovative Verfahren beinhaltet die Verwendung von Vliesmaschinen, die normalerweise so luxuriöse Produkte wie Feuchttücher und Hygieneartikel herstellen. Durch diese Maschinen entstehen in der Regel Einwegprodukte. Doppelhaus hat Techniken entwickelt, um mehr Naturfasern wie deutsche Wolle einzuführen. Die Wolle wird gesammelt und wir verwenden hochentwickelte Vliesmaschinen, um die Fasern zusammenzubinden. Es durchläuft dann verschiedene andere Phasen, in denen die Wollfasern physikalisch miteinander verbunden werden. Unsere Produktion ist auch sehr unterschiedlich, da sie im Vergleich zu anderen Materialien ein Drittel der Energie spart, keine Chemikalien verwendet und 95 % des gesamten Wassers recycelt wird.

MARTIN Yolanda hatte zuerst die gute Idee, Wolle in unseren Textilien zu verwenden. Derzeit ist europäische Wolle unglaublich unterbewertet, sie wird oft begraben oder verbrannt, anstatt verwendet zu werden!

Dies liegt daran, dass der Marktpreis so niedrig ist und europäische Wolle ein Nebenprodukt der Fleischindustrie ist. Dieses Jahr war besonders schlimm, weil einige Bauern in Großbritannien aufgrund der Corona-Krise berichtet haben, bis zu 600 Vliese auf den Komposthaufen geworfen zu haben! Wir sehen das als schreckliche Verschwendung für solch einen wunderbaren natürlichen Rohstoff. Wir beziehen unseren Rohstoff über das British Wool Board. Dieses Jahr freuen wir uns jedoch, mit LEBENSKLEIDUNG an einer vollständig deutschen »Cloudwool« zu arbeiten. Deutsche Wollbauern stehen vor ähnlichen Problemen, die Wolle ist Nebenprodukt der Fleischindustrie und oft unglaublich schwer zu verkaufen. Die Herstellung von »Cloudwool« erfolgt derzeit in Deutschland und unser Studio befindet sich in Berlin, um uns bei der Vernetzung mit verschiedenen Vliesherstellern in Europa zu helfen und mit ihnen

BELIEVERS · We are driven by conviction! At the IVN and Unternehmensgrün we sit on the board, while being a member of the textile alliance, too – and all this on a voluntary basis. We also pay close attention to promoting the green economy. For us, this includes green electricity, sustainable office supplies and a tasty organic box from Brodowin, from which we like to cook together.
