The Regent Cocktail Club offers an elegant bar and plush leather banquettes for guests to relax and sip cocktails crafted by our award winning bartenders.

During class, guests will be invited to take part in the experience, learning how to stir up the classics with our curated selection of vintage barware and the guidance of our world renowned mixologists.

After your class, continue to enjoy dinner in award winning Dolce Italian. Based on the day/timing your mixology class is booked, the Regent Cocktail Club and Rec Room are the perfect locations to continue your group gathering. Relax with live music in Regent Cocktail Club or dance the night away in our underground nightclub, Rec Room that has the most buzz all around South Beach.

JULIO CABRERA

MANAGING PARTNER THE REGENT COCKTAIL CLUB Julio Cabrera’s journey to helming the bar is one filled with rich history and international influence.

Growing up in Matanas, Cuba, Cabrera’s earliest memories are of helping his father run the 24hour bar in the back of their house. It was there that he began to develop his love and appreciation for bartending. He attended college and received a degree in engineering specializing in coffee, sugarcane and citrus, and although he held several managerial positions at local hotels, he always felt that his calling was to be a bartender, a cantinero.

In 1992, Cabrera made the decision to pursue his passion and has been working in the bartending industry ever since. He boasts a diverse portfolio of international work in his native Cuba, Italy, Cancun and Miami. After winning a number of Cuban cocktail competitions, he was selected to be the European Brand Ambassador for a prominent brand of Cuban rum and gained experience managing events and promotions around Europe.

Julio became a member of the International Bartender Association (I.B.A.) years later and participated in the I.B.A. World Cocktail Competition in Slovenia in 2002 as the first Cuban competitor. From there, he worked as the Bar Manager of the Grand Aqua Hotel and the Condesa Hotel, and later completed the Beverage Alcohol Resource Program in New York.

In 2006, a serendipitous meeting with the award-winning chef Michelle Bernstein resulted in a long-term partnership between the two. Cabrera moved to Miami to help Michelle launch her restaurant, Michy’s, and several years later the two collaborated again to open Sra. Martinez.

He managed the bar at Bernstein’s restaurants for six years, and his cocktail creations at Sra. Martinez’s helped the restaurant gain recognition in 2012 as one of the 100 best bars in America.

In 2013, Cabrera joined LDV Hospitality in Miami to help open the renowned Regent Cocktail Club as the official managing partner. There, he and his team of mixologists aim to preserve the classic cocktails of the world by only using the highest quality products and techniques.

To date, Cabrera touts an impressive lineup of awards and recognitions. He won the title of MixItUp’s “The Ultimate Mixology Challenge” U.S. winner in New York in 2011, the Mixing Star U.S. winner in Las Vegas in 2012, and the Diageo World Class USA Finale first runner up in New York in 2013 and 2014. He also was recognized as the “Most Imaginative” Bartender of 2013 by GQ, Bombay Sapphire and U.S.B.G after winning the national finals in Las Vegas and finishing third at the global final in London.

When he’s not at Regent Cocktail Club helming the world-famous bar, Julio Cabrera can be found training aspiring bartenders in the art of crafting cocktails, managing his newer projects such as Ball & Chain on Calle Ocho, or working on his book. His ultimate dream is to become a professor of bartending in order to pass down the bartending legacy of the cantineros.

At Regent, our expert mixologists pride themselves on creating classic cocktails with a unique twist.

In addition to learning about particular key ingredients and utilizing essential bar tools, mixologists will provide an overview of the famous Regent Cocktail Club Guests will receive personalized instruction on how to prepare (3) different cocktails and then sample each one.

Each guest will then have the opportunity to create their cocktail of choice.
