Great Buddha What? A statue of “Great Buddha” When? 1243 Where? Japan Why? Used as a tribute to Buddha You’re P.O.V.? I think this statue is a great representation of Buddha that is recognized all over the world.

New

SUP Company What? The logo for Stand Up Paddle Company When? Opened in 2009 Where? Laguna Beach, CA Why? Used to represent the company You’re P.O.V.? I think this logo is unique and easy to recognize.

Roxy What? The logo for Roxy When? Founded in 1990 Where? Huntington Beach, CA Why? Created as the Sister Brand on Quiksilver You’re P.O.V.? I think it was very unique to mirror the Quiksilver logo into a heart to create the logo for their spin-off company

LS&S What? The logo for Laguna Surf & Sport When? 1982 Where? Laguna Beach, CA Why? Used to represent the company You’re P.O.V.? I think this logo is different, without being too different, and is just a classic logo.

Doesn’t Work

V Sign What? Hand gesture When? 1939 Where? Worldwide Why? During World War II, this was used as a sign of victory. In the 1960’s in the US, it became is symbol of peace. You’re P.O.V.? I don’t think this is a good symbol because while it is a “fun” symbol in the US, it is an offensive sign in the UK, Australia, and more.

Starbucks What? The logo for Starbucks When? 1971 Where? Seattle, WA Why? Used to represent the company You’re P.O.V.? While this logo is recognized by many, I just don’t quite understand the link between a two-tailed mermaid and coffee.

Shore Leave BB What? Font When? Where? Why? Sometimes used as a tattoo font for sailors or pirates You’re P.O.V.? This font has many different aspects that I have never seen before.

In-n-Out What? An In-n-Out burger When? 2013 Where? San Diego, CA Why? To consume You’re P.O.V.? A fresh burger is a great meal.

Flower What? An alive flower surrounded by dead flowers When? 2013 Where? Laguna Beach, CA Why? You’re P.O.V.? I love that although all the flowers around this one had died, this one is still alive.

Flag What? An American Flag When? 1958 Where? Ohio Why? Used to represent America You’re P.O.V.? I think the American Flag does it’s job of repesenting America.

Sign What? The spot that the sign of a restaurant used to hang When? 2013 Where? Laguna Beach, CA Why? The restaurant closed down You’re P.O.V.? This restaurant closed down, so clearly that did not work, and now the sign is gone and does not work either.

Car What? An old car When? 1971 Where? Laguna Beach, CA Why? Transportation You’re P.O.V.? I cannot decide if this car is cool because of it’s age or just too old for my liking.

Milk Bottle What? Glass milk bottles When? Unknown Where? New York Why? To hold milk You’re P.O.V.? I think this is a classic type of packaging for milk.

Yogurt What? Yogurt package split to hold fruit, nuts, etc. on the other side so you can easy flip them together to combine When? 2012 Where? United States Why? To be a convient way to combine yogurt with other toppings You’re P.O.V.? I think this packaging is very convenient.

Lip Balm What? An egg-shaped lip balm When? 21st century Where? United States Why? To be unique with their packaging so that it catches your eye You’re P.O.V.? This lip balm packaging is the first not stick lip I have seen.

Box What? A cardboard box When? 1817 Where? England Why? To hold goods or materials You’re P.O.V.? This is a classic type of packaging that does it’s job well.

Eggs What? A cardboard egg carton When? 1911 Where? British Columbia Why? To hold eggs You’re P.O.V.? While this type of packaging tries to protect the eggs, I think it could be better, since eggs still break in them.

Inside Packaging What? The packaging inside of toys When? 20th & 21st Centuries Where? World Wide Why? To secure items within their packaging You’re P.O.V.? I can’t decide if the security of this packaging is good, or if it’s just more than what’s necessary.

Stanley Cup What? Chicago Blackhawks 2013 Stanley Cup Champions T-Shirt When? 2013 Where? United States Why? To represent the winning team You’re P.O.V.? I think this font is very modern and works well with the design on the shirt.

Record What? Perks of Being a Wallflower Soundtrack When? 2012 Where? United States Why? To distribute the music used in the film You’re P.O.V.? I think this font is unique, but relates to the story of the book/film.

Coca Cola What? Coca Cola Logo When? 1886 Where? United States Why? Used to represent the company You’re P.O.V.? I think the Coca Cola font is a classic font that is different without being too weird.

Burnt Out Letters What? Burnt out letters on a sign When? 20th & 21st Centuries Where? World Wide Why? The light bulbs burn out You’re P.O.V.? When buildings use light up signs, a few letters can burn out, often leaving behind new words.

Google What? Google Logo When? 1998 Where? Menlo Park, CA Why? Used to represent the company You’re P.O.V.? This logo obviously works for Google, but I just don’t quite understand why they chose multicolor.

Riot Fest What? Poster advertising a concert When? 2013 Where? Chicago, IL Why? To encourage people to attend the event You’re P.O.V.? I think the designs are creative and they did a good job of using the text so that it doesn’t look too boring

Pinecone What? A pinecone When? 2013 Where? Irvine, CA Why? They reproduce pine trees You’re P.O.V.? While pinecones do serve a purpose, this one is on asphalt, unable to reproduce.
