We are overwhelmed with gratitude by your extraordinary support of the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show. Twenty years ago, we had the privilege of watching our mothers enjoy a hobby that bonded them in friendship and share it with the Omaha community they so loved. Together, with a group of passionate volunteers and community leaders, this show has grown into an exceptional, one-of-a-kind experience that benefits and supports our beautiful botanical garden.
We take pleasure in seeing our community come together for this special weekend, year after year, to celebrate friendship, world-renowned antiques dealers, and guest speakers. We especially want to thank the hundreds of volunteers who plan throughout the year and work with garden staff to execute this ambitious show. Our mothers would be proud beyond measure to toast the 20th anniversary of the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show, rooted in their appreciation for beauty. Their vision in full bloom...
On this 20th anniversary of the show, we applaud the outstanding volunteers and dedicated staff for carrying on the vision of our dear mothers, Kimball and Mary. As honorary chairs, we want to thank you all for allowing this partnership to continue in this very special place for all these years.
Sincerely yours,
Emily and Clark Lauritzen & Mimi and Jeff Post 2023 Honorary ChairsFor 20 fabulous years, your vision has filled this garden with beauty and enriched the city of Omaha and beyond.
The Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show has remained a significant source of inspiration for so many, and we continue to celebrate your friendship and leadership each and every year.
Cheers to you on this 20th anniversary of the show, and thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Welcome to the 20th anniversary of the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show. What an exciting year it has been looking back on the past 20 years of inspiration, as well as embarking on a new design partnership with Kravet/Lee Jofa! We wanted to find a theme that would connect the natural beauty of the garden and reflect the inspiration the show provides us every year. Lee Jofa’s beloved Tree of Life pattern has a rich history, dating to the 1920s, that continues to evolve and look vibrant in any setting today. Join us as we invite you to Reimagine and celebrate the past, present, and future of this beloved event.
As general chairs, we are incredibly honored to be chairing this landmark year. Planning the show has been a beautiful reminder of the many hands that have built the show over 20 years of inspiration. We are grateful to all our committee, volunteers, and Lauritzen Gardens’ staff for making this weekend and our vision possible! The past general chairs and their committees have been instrumental in the overall growth in attendance and critical fundraising capabilities. This year’s 20th anniversary committee has worked to highlight the special memories over the years. Enjoy the walk down memory lane and be reassured that our weekend, which brings together the worlds of design, art, and entertaining, will continue to delight guests for years to come. Cheers to you all!
Thank you to our honorary chairs, Emily and Clark Lauritzen and Mimi and Jeff Post. We are proud to honor our founding families that have invested their passion for the garden and love of antiques to make this a beloved destination event for Omaha and the Midwest. Your leadership is a beautiful example of all that Kimball Lauritzen and Mary Seina deemed possible for this show when they dreamed up this event 20 years ago!
Carrie Jenkins and Cindy Tooher 2023 General ChairsIsn’t this Fabulous,” said Mary Seina, co-founder and heart and soul of the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques and Garden Show in 2013, on the occasion of the show’s 10th anniversary.
Today, as we celebrate the show’s 20th year, it is only right to reflect on the past and the daunting task undertaken by Mary and co-founders Kimball Lauritzen, Cindy Bay, Jean Bell and the garden’s founding executive director, Spencer Crews. “It was always about beauty,” said Mary. “The beauty found in a garden. The beauty found in a treasured work of art that has stood the test of time.” For Mary and her co-founders, entering the antiques show should be akin to walking through the garden. Beautiful vistas, a new treasure around every corner. A delight for the senses.
Twenty years ago, Lauritzen Gardens was an emerging non-profit organization. New to Omaha, the garden was already a beautiful location to visit. But too few were visiting and, of course, funding to continue its growth was necessary. Their remedy and their dream was the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques and Garden Show. But bringing this dream to fruition was no easy task, and a big leap forward for our young public garden.
They criss-crossed the country visiting antiques show after antiques show, schmoozing antiques exhibitors, studying and learning from communities who leapt before them. Finding elite designers willing to take a chance on a new show. Developing sponsors to help cover the show’s expenses. Hiring a show manager. And that was just the beginning.
Kimball and Cindy concentrated on underwriting, developing a strong and loyal group of sponsors, most of whom are still listed in your program as sponsors today. Mary took over dealer identification
and recruitment. Jean served as show general chairman for the first two years. A daunting task, she spearheaded a committee that oversaw four days of events including an elegant preview party, two fabulous luncheons, internationally renowned designer presentations, while managing 30 plus dealers, spacing, décor, menus, load in times, tents and so much more. These ladies wrote the book on what would become the most groundbreaking event to grace the metropolitan area in years.
Along the way, with the help of a group of dedicated volunteers and fellow antiques and garden admirers, they presented to their patrons a collection of the world’s most respected and prolific interior designers as keynote speakers including among many more the Keno Brothers, Alexa Hampton, Bunny Williams, Charlotte Moss, Charles Faudree, Jeffrey Bilhuber, and even the Countess of Carnarvon herself, the mistress of Great Britain’s Highclere Castle, the real-life Downton Abbey.
This show has attracted tens of thousands of visitors to Lauritzen Gardens, raised millions of dollars to support its growth and development, and elevated this once emerging non-profit into a regional leader in horticultural programming and display. Twenty years after the first show it is still "always about beauty."

Graphics for the 2023 Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show prominently feature the Lee Jofa pattern Tree of Life. Based on an 18th century Indian palampore, Tree of Life is the crown jewel of Lee Jofa’s collection. The full-width design features a flourishing, fantastical tree blooming with stylized flowers and with exotic birds perched on curving branches. This breathtaking pattern was created over two years in the 1920s by renowned English textile designer, Harry Wearne.
The hand-block printed fabric continues to be produced in the same artisanal fashion as it has been for decades. The complex layout incorporates 267 hand-carved wooden blocks for each 100” vertical repeat, put together like a 3D jigsaw puzzle. The labor-intensive, time-consuming process can only be executed by skilled artisans with at least seven years of training. Even for an experienced hand block printer, only two yards of Tree of Life can be produced in a single day.
Recolored for the first time in honor of the brand’s 200th anniversary, the Lee Jofa studio approached this daunting task through hand-painted studies and trials. The resulting colorways are showstopping works of art sure to delight and inspire long standing fans of this classic.
For the first time in its history, Tree of Life is available as a printed wallcovering in both a continuous and panel version including the original decorative base. Visit booth 2 throughout the show weekend to see Tree of Life, and other fine goods from the Lee Jofa collection, or visit leejofa.com to learn more about the show's 2023 design partner.
Over the years, an ornate, terra cotta statue has graced the cover of Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show programs, has made her presence known as a focal point in show décor installations, and, for a period of time, was even included in a version of the show’s logo.
Her name is Spring and she has been an icon of our show. Prior to her arrival at the garden, she resided at a private estate in Omaha, Nebraska for many years. Her original owners purchased her in Florence, Italy, and she was originally one of a set of four sculptures depicting the four seasons.
In 2003, Mary and Tony Seina gifted Spring to Lauritzen Gardens in memory of Nelsie Topp Donahoo, whose friendship with Jack and Louis Drew enhanced her own love of antiques.
On September 15, 2016, the Lauritzen Gardens Board of Directors passed a resolution expressing their deepest gratitude to Mary Seina and resolved Spring would reside in the garden and serve as recognition for Mary’s immeasurable contributions to the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show and to Lauritzen Gardens.
Twenty years after she first arrived in the garden, is now on permanent display in a shaded grove just west of the Hitchcock-Kountze Victorian Garden. In the summer of 2023, in memory of Mary Seina, the landscape surrounding the sculpture was reimagined, with an inviting pathway, plantings, and benches from the Seina’s home.
serves as a symbol of her season, representing new beginnings and transformations, but she’s also become a tradition at the show and a lasting reminder of the beauty of antiques in the garden.
Gathering this week to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show fills me with immense gratitude. This significant milestone underscores the collective efforts and boundless generosity that have been pivotal over the past two decades in shaping this extraordinary community event and in shaping Lauritzen Gardens.
From the dedicated members of the founding committee, who sowed the seeds of this idea, to the volunteers whose tireless commitment breathed life into each edition, to every visitor who has attended our event, and to the steadfast staff who worked behind the scenes each year, our journey is a testament to the unity of purpose and shared dedication to Omaha’s cherished public garden.
Over these past two decades, the show’s impact has rippled far beyond its annual autumn occurrence. With more than ten million dollars raised, Lauritzen Gardens has flourished into an embodiment of natural beauty and environmental stewardship. The combined efforts of all contributors, alongside generous backing from our sponsors, have not only resulted in stunning botanical exhibits and enriching educational programs, but have also fostered vital plant conservation initiatives. These endeavors ensure the lasting vibrancy and beauty of our garden, enabling us to continuously expand and provide joy to hundreds of thousands of annual guests upon their visits to this urban oasis.
As we mark this show’s significant milestone, please accept my sincere thanks for being integral to this incredible journey. The Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show stands as a testament to the incredible achievements that collaboration, dedication, and passion, and as Mary Seina mused, the appreciation that “The beauty found in a garden...the beauty found in a treasured work of art” can bring. Here’s to the next 20 years!
The Lee Jofa 200 Collection celebrates two hundred years in style with a signature collection of textiles, furniture, carpet and accessories for the home. This dynamic selection showcases the brand’s many generations in and contributions to the interior design industry. The exclusive anniversary textile collection features archival patterns in fresh colorways, and explores the span of Lee Jofa’s history, from a traditional 18th century palampore to a 1960s-era chinoiserie. The assortment of 16 classic patterns includes printed fabric, wovens, and embroideries, each offered in two new re-colorations. A collection of coordinating wallcovering is also forthcoming.
Long-standing fans of the brand will enjoy fresh colorways of the artisanally hand-block printed patterns Hollyhock and Tree of Life, which will be available as printed wallcovering for the first time as well. Other memorable archival designs include Whippets, a finely drawn novelty pattern, and Floral Bouquet, which is based on a 19th century French document, and was once featured in the homes of Sister Parish and Mario Buatta. Chinese Lampas offer a sumptuous adaptation of an archival tapestry with block-printed motifs (a specialized technique developed by one of the founders of Lee Jofa), reimagined as a fine jacquard woven on a satin warp with clipped cotton wefts. Strapwork Print, a multi-colored lattice design, was also interpreted from a block printed tapestry as a contemporary print on scoured linen.
The Lee Jofa 200th Anniversary furniture collection echoes the hallows of traditionalism. With designs ranging from an English antique-inspired lyre chair to a fully upholstered English arm sofa, the collection pairs well with Lee Jofa's long-standing love of print and color. A mix of materials includes a fresh offering of wrapped cocktail and side tables, hammered and smooth metal tables, and graceful upholstery styles that fit both past and present.
Lee Jofa Carpets introduces a sophisticated collection of 69 charming area rugs, all inspired by the brand’s iconic wovens, velvets and textures. These new floorcoverings are expertly hand-dyed to work effortlessly with the classic Lee Jofa aesthetic, creating a perfect foundation for the anniversary textile and furniture launches. From luxurious hand-knotted fine silk to sophisticated novelty flatweaves, the universally appealing designs quietly underline a room with a softness that is tailored to order for all taste levels.
To round out the comprehensive array of new designs, a selection of accessories including pillows and lighting will be available in coordinating prints, echoing the historic aesthetic of the textiles, furniture and carpet.
The Lee Jofa 200 collection is sure to surprise and delight designers, from those who’ve been following the brand for years, to newcomers just discovering these iconic designs. This exciting mix brings together timeless favorites and hidden gems from the archives, representing a wide range of the brand’s incredible oeuvre. Offering the unique statement pieces and nuanced coloring Lee Jofa is known for, the anniversary collection both celebrates the brand’s storied past and provides a fresh new vision for the future.
In memory of Kimball Lauritzen and Mary Seina who shared a treasured friendship, a passion for antiques, a love of gardens, an appreciation for community, and an incredible vision for an antiques show in Omaha, Nebraska
As detailed on pages 10 and 11 of this program, the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show was originally the vision of founding chairs and dear friends Kimball Lauritzen and Mary Seina. They wanted to bring antiques, fine art, and design experts to Omaha to beautify area homes and to benefit the public garden that they both enjoyed and supported.
Great roots give rise to spectacular things and, on the event of the show's 20th anniversary, we pause to remember the significant gift that our founding chairs gave to the garden and the community when they planted the seeds for the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show. With the original vision set by Kimball and Mary in mind, we carry on old traditions, advance their spirit of hospitality, and forge ahead to new shows with new ideas and concepts, Reimagining what an antiques show in Omaha, Nebraska can be.
A treasured friendship led to a most treasured community event...just as they envisioned all those years ago.
I love the Gardens and I love antiques. This show, to me, is heaven on Earth. And it all started, and continues to be done with my dear friends. How could it be better than this?
- Mary SeinaWe are proud to support projects that make the community more beautiful for everyone.

Jofa originated in 1823 and their beloved Tree of Life pattern, shown here, is one of their oldest textiles. Their pattern is based on an 18th Century Indian pampalore, which can be described as a screen-printed linen that features a lively floral pattern. An English textile designer, Harry Wearne, completed the pattern over a twoyear timeframe in the 1920’s. Lee Jofa’s beautiful design draws influence from Indian and Chinese motifs. The Handblock requires 267 individual blocks to print one 100” vertical repeat of the fabric. Each of these blocks is interlocking to print a specific color and segment of the pattern.
Aclassic– iconic, beautiful, timeless, with the ability to look fresh and vibrant in any setting. Tree of Life will continue to inspire home design for years to come. We feel it is the perfect inspiration to celebrate our show’s amazing history! We want our show to help us all reimagine our own homes & inspire new designs and looks for the future.

The Vision Committee led two strategic planning processes engaging a national consultant. The 2018 strategic planning process resulted in the formation of the Advisory Committee model to oversee and preserve the vision of the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show while transitioning to a volunteer led/staff driven model.

Under the direction of chair Jan Vrana, the Advisory Committee plays a crucial role in underwriting, strategic planning, speaker selection, engaging local designers, and in securing antiques exhibitors and the show manager. Their oversight and hard work behind the scenes ensures the continued success of the show.

For years, Omaha antiques enthusiasts knew where to go for new pieces to add to their collections - Drew’s Antiques and Art Objects.
Jack and Louis Drew were born in Omaha in 1912. At the age of 16, the identical twins opened Drew’s Antiques, the only exclusive antiques shop in Omaha at the time. The twins graduated from Central High School in 1930, and, except for a brief time in the early 1940s when both were drafted into World War II, continued to build their antiques business from then on.
Their instinctive knowledge of what the words “art” and “antique” imply helped them select fine porcelain, glassware, china, snuff boxes, furniture and more to bring back to Omaha from around the globe. Self-taught appraisers and dealers, the Drew brothers established their store, located in the former Bradford Pettis home at 400 S. 39th Street, as Omaha’s destination for high-end antiques and decorative art objects for nearly 50 years.
Their vision and love of antiques lived on through the generosity of The Drew Foundation (Jack, Helen, Louis, and Jean), an organization created to educate and further antique appreciation. Significant gifts from The Drew Foundation during the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show’s early years helped to establish our show and develop multiple generations of antiques enthusiasts across Omaha and the Midwest.

The Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show is a one-of-a-kind cultural event. The show’s four days bring together high-quality antiques exhibitors, renowned designers and speakers, educational opportunities for our patrons, and so much more. Since 2004, the show has captured the imagination of more than 88,000 attendees who experienced the beauty that is Lauritzen Gardens and generously contributed over $10 million to support the operation and maintenance of our community’s ever-changing living treasure.
The garden strives to impact and inspire every visitor through the natural beauty of our year-round horticultural displays. We develop educational programs that cultivate minds of all ages, work to conserve endangered plants of the Great Plains, and advance the understanding and stewardship of the region’s biological diversity. Our special garden events and unique exhibits provide entertainment, but also connect people to nature in numerous ways.
Since 2004, Lauritzen Gardens and the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show have grown alongside each other and the roots established 20 years ago have given rise to spectacular things. Your generous support of the show will help cultivate a wondrous and vibrant green space in the heart of our city and ensure that the garden continues to flourish.
Congratulations on creating these amazing antiques show weekends for 20 years.
We honor and thank everyone who helped make these events successful, from event chairs and their team of volunteers to donors and sponsors.
Your hard work and contributions made this all possible and directly support the mission of the Lauritzen Gardens.

While many pieces acquired at the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show now grace homes and gardens across our community, several pieces have found a permanent home on the grounds of Lauritzen Gardens. From the iron panels between the arborvitae at the top of the English perennial border to the incensoriums in the community room to the Piper Boy sculptures in the courtyard of the Marjorie K. Daugherty Conservatory’s temperate house, antiques are used to decorate rooms and adorn landscapes across the garden’s 100 acres.
Just as the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show has evolved with new speakers, events, and decor each year, the show’s logo has been updated as well. Here’s a look at six distinct versions of the logos that have represented the show, including the reimagined mark in celebration of the 20th anniversary.
Congratulations on two decades of celebrating the allure of fine antiques. Each rare find represents the craftsmanship and artistry of bygone eras, while preserving the echoes of history for generations to come.
Unparalleled hospitality... it's a show tradition.
In memory of Fran Dowd, who shared her genuine warmth and generosity with show guests for years and who graciously showed us all that hospitality is an act of love, friendship, and building community.
TO 20 YEARS!
A toast to the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show and the many hands that make it happen each and every year.
Thank you for helping us reminisce on past shows and Reimagine what Omaha's antiques show can be.
CARRIE JENKINS & CINDY TOOHER
With sincere gratitude to commemorative program sponsors Ellen and Stavely Wright.
Thank you for your enduring support of the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show, for showcasing the collective history of the show and the garden, and for fostering the vision of founding chairs Kimball Lauritzen and Mary Seina.
The first 20 years have been an incredible story of shared passions, community collaboration, and immense growth. We can't wait to see what the next 20 shows have in store for Omaha and its public garden!
Sponsored in loving memory of 2008 show chair Cindy Leiferman
During the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show, patrons shop for treasures in the booths of the antiques exhibitors. But did you know that the development of Lauritzen Gardens is a literal trash to treasure story?
The land at Lauritzen Gardens is unique compared to many public gardens, as a portion of it was used as a solid waste balefill from 1976 to 1981. During this time, about 50% of Omaha’s municipal household waste was compacted into large blocks, or bales (about 83,000 tons in 1978) and then hauled by rail to the fill site. After deeming that a botanical garden was an excellent reuse of the land, extensive testing for contaminants in both soil and water were conducted and work began on our property in the early 1990s to create an urban oasis for the benefit of plants, wildlife, and people. That work continues today. Though the land has presented some development challenges over the years, the garden is a great reuse of land with restrictions that the balefill imposes.
Thanks to our garden pioneers, steadfast donors, and the grassroots effort to turn a landfill into a beautiful respite for the community, Lauritzen Gardens is a treasured safe haven for reflection and introspection, a place to walk in the fresh air, to keep a nature journal, spend time bathing in the trees, to meditate, to be inspired by the beauty and importance of plants, to experience the seasons, to use our senses, to volunteer and spend time cultivating the land, and to be energized to live happier and healthier lives.
Nebraska is optimistic. Taking on every day with a smile.
The word “grassroots” manifests thoughts of resourcefulness, initiation and implementation of new ideas and the coming together of citizens for a common cause. Nowhere does the term more aptly apply than during the inception of a public garden.
From its meager beginning, Lauritzen Gardens has been rooted in a volunteer movement that started in Omaha in the early 1980s. The vision of creating a botanical garden in Omaha to offer education, relaxation, entertainment and inspiration for visitors was born in 1982, more than four decades ago. Initiated by a group of five dedicated volunteers led by Omaha World-Herald Garden Parade columnist, Helena Street, each of these visionaries held true to a love of gardening and a genuine, unending belief in the future. Since then, the garden has steadily expanded into a 100-acre verdant landscape that is full of life year-round.
Similarly, the Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show was the vision of a dynamic team, Kimball Lauritzen and Mary Seina, who wanted to share their passion for antiques and love of gardens with the community, while raising necessary funds to sustain their beloved public garden. Just as the garden pioneers garnered support for their cause, Kimball and Mary rallied a team around their effort to establish an antiques show in Omaha, Nebraska. Over the past 20 years, hundreds of volunteers have helped to execute the vision of the founding chairs, sharing their time and talents to create an event unlike any other in the region.
Both the garden and the show were created by the community for the enjoyment and education of the community. The following pages will take you on a journey through the past 20 years, to see visually how, with the help of our generous community, the garden and the show have grown together.

The 2022 show featured a host of antiques combined with a hint of modernity, a touch of whimsy, a host of butterflies, and a bit of the unexpected. The bright and bold show was a garden party to remember with a trifecta of visual experiences - the botanical gardens, the curated antiques booths, and showstopping décor.
Every fall, we anxiously await the week when antiques exhibitors pull their big box trucks through the garden gates and unload the treasures they have hand-selected for the show weekend. We love to see the pieces that they've found and hear the stories behind them, but more so, we love to see their smiling faces once again and hear how the past year has been. Our antiques exhibitors have become like family over the years and every show weekend feels like a reunion. On the occasion of the show's 20th anniversary, we warmly welcome back our friends, our antiques exhibitors!

The Lauritzen Gardens Antiques Show has greatly benefited from the expertise, knowledge, and industry insight from several show managers through the years. Their connections with exhibitors in the industry and experience with shows across the country have helped the Omaha show grow and thrive over the years. From Charlie Miller, who laid the foundation and got things running, to Sandy and Josh Wainwright, who analyzed multiple aspects of the show and took the event to another level, to Lori and Mark Finke who have an eye for design and detail and understand the changing market and customer base, the show you see today is a testament to the work that they have all put in to this event behind the scenes.
The show has been led internally by Lauritzen Gardens staff members in the development and marketing/events departments. These staff members create a master plan each year and help coordinate all aspects of the show, from fundraising to vendor contracts, permits to equipment and tent rentals, and even catering arrangements. Alongside the show managers and volunteers, their organization and communication assist the rest of the wider team through the show each and every year. The seven staff listed below have all assisted in executing and growing the show for the garden:
Danelle Myer (2004-2009)
Kayla Scott (2010-2013)
Chantel LeMaster (2014)
Lori Bausch (2014-2017)
Denise Bartels (2018)
Cynthe Johnson (2019-2020)
Sarah Kalhorn-Wisecup (2021-present)
