August. How time flies! As we enter the golden hour of summer, I look back on July and remember that the heat wave brought a great energy to the Club, in addition to the high temperatures. July gave me many opportunities to see joy in action throughout the Club, and afforded me the privilegde of watching families create lasting memories here. July also showed me how special our dedicated staff is; I'd like to give kudos to the Camp High Tide and Junior Sailing crews who worked to keep our campers and sailors cool and smiling, every day, rain or shine.

Tennis took center stage in July - upper and lower courts bustling with competitive and friendly play - we look forward to continued enjoyment of our tennis facilities, and to the Club Championship on Labor Day Weekend, an LSC tradition.

August brings much for all of us to look forward to at LSC - most notably the August 6 Beach Bash Blowout, the Sailing Awards Dinner on the 11th and Cardboard Canoe Races on the 28th. I'll see you there!

And finally, reminders: footwear and coverups/clothing are required throughout LSC when not at the pool or beach, and, children under four (4) years of age are not be permitted in the Main Pool or on the Pool Deck at any time. Children under age four (4) may use the Kiddie Pool and must be in the care of a responsible adult Member or other authorized person. Thank you.

On behalf of the LSC Beach & Pool Committee, along with our excellent team of Lifeguards and Beach Crew led by Director Iain Sganga, I hope everyone is enjoying the 2022 season, our first fully operational and unrestricted season since 2019. As we head further into summer (and fall), we are building on our accomplishments of the last few years to provide a safe and enjoyable time for our members and their guests.

Expanded Days/Hours: We successfully opened before Memorial Day this year and, well, “We are open until we close!”. Our fingers are crossed for a Columbus Day afternoon float-fest yet again this year. Likewise, in the recent heatwave, we were able to keep open until 8pm. For folks to cool off and, daylight and staff permitting, we are working to bring some later hours back.

Early Morning Lap-Swim: This program continues to be well received and is operational daily through Labor Day and thereafter on weekends we remain open. Visit the club at 6am weekdays/8am weekends and start your day in our heated pool with some laps and get the blood flowing!

Beach: Our beach crew continues to greet and assist our beachgoers to set the tone for an enjoyable time on the sand. They will assist with chairs, umbrellas, paddleboards & kayaks, and work to keep the shoreline clean. We ask that you help out and leave only your footprints in the sand upon departure. Trash receptacles are regularly emptied, please fill them. Under the watchful eyes of our Lifeguards, your fun is only surpassed by the safety and protection they provide.

Docks: Our fisherman continue to enjoy our extended dock hours until 8pm to provide a better opportunity to have a story about “the one that got away.”

Beverage Service: The SB&G crew continues to provide excellent beverage service on the pool deck and down at the beach. We continue to work on ways to make beverages even more accessible those hot days/night.

SAFETY/SECURITY REPORT As members (and their guests) enter the club for a long/short visit, they do so confident that LSC provides an exceptionally safe environment. Whether it’s the seasoned Lifeguards, the watchful Beach Crew or families looking out for each other, we do a great job TOGETHER. Further enhancing this environment is our Security Crew. They are here to ensure safe entrance/exit to the club, protection of property and, in emergency situations, organization of resources with other staff to address the situation. They are not babysitters, activity coordinators or mediators. As a gentle reminder, children are the responsibility of their parents and guests of the sponsoring members. Please ensure that you have a watchful eye out for your party and that they are familiar with club expectations, as that is your responsibility not the Security Crew. Many a member’s child began their babysitting career at LSC as a “helper.” It is something to consider that may be invaluable to you for years to come.

DIGITAL SIGNAGE NOW VISIBLE THROUGHOUT THE CLUB In July, the Club completed the installation of six digital signs, providing news and information to the membership like never before.

The Clubhouse digital signs are located at the Front Desk and the Clubhouse Bar, and will feature a variety of content including club news, menus, photographs and event information.

Outdoor digital signs located at the Casino, Sports Bar & Grille and the Welcome Center will feature fresh content that is location-specific as well as general in nature.

CAMP HIGH TIDE 2022

TENNIS

Our 2022 Camp High Tide has been a huge success.

Over 80 campers have enjoyed the 6 week session on the beautiful grounds of LSC taking part in new activities such as Budding Buddhas Yoga, Grit Ninja, Day Rock (music), the Bubble Bus and Waterslide Fridays, while still enjoying the tried and true traditions of tie-dye day, daily swim and tennis instruction and lots of arts and crafts and sports.

The month of July was so much fun at Camp High Tide. We had Crazy Hair Day, completed art projects with One River Art School, and played a ton of soccer with Soccer with Aldwin. Don't worry, we still have a few more fun activities before the end of camp!

We look forward celebrating another wonderful Camp High Tide summer with our families at the end-of-camp Ice Cream Social on Friday, August 5.

LSC Junior Sailors have had a busy 2022 season!

Lots of new adventures, experiences, and fun out on the water. Our sailors traveled around the Sound to various events, including Larchmont Yacht Club Junior Race Week, and have been having a blast on themed Fridays.

The Silver Cup Invitational was a huge success!

Our beautiful club grounds and view of the Long Island Sound provided a spectacular setting for the competition and our team spirit. There were some very competitive races and artful diving throughout the meet. LSC was led by our head coach Steven Amato and our diving coach Dylan Riccio. Seeing the pool deck filled with an enthusiastic crowd from LSC as well as the seven visiting clubs was a fabulous sight to see! Hats off to Steven and the LSC Swimming and Diving Team for a great season and a 2nd place finish at the invitational.

Our August calendar includes Color Wars (August 3) featuring 5 LSC Junior Sailing teams, challenged to a variety of land and water competitions, and our Sailing Awards Dinner (August 11). Sailing families are encouraged to attend the Awards Dinner; kindly reserve via the Club's Front Desk or via e-mail to LSCsailing@larchmontshoreclub.org.

A LA CARTE MENU ADDITIONS

New a la carte menu items were added in July to the Club's lunch and dinner menus, including Raw Bar, Artisanal Burrata Salad, Beet Salad and Watermelon Salad. Dinner menu offerings include 2-lb Lobster, Pan-Seared Grouper, and House-Made Agnolotti.

Enjoy these in The Grille Room or outdoors.

LOOKING AHEAD SEPTEMBER PREVIEW

Hello, gorgeous!

The Club has a limited number of tickets to the Wednesday, September 21st matinee performance (2:00 p.m.) of Funny Girl at the August Wilson Theater, starring Lea Michelle (from TV's "Glee") as Fanny Brice. Members will enjoy round-trip travel by luxury motorcoach, departing LSC at 12:15 sharp. Upon return to the Club, there will be a wine and cheese reception. Lunch is not provided. Each ticket is $160; tickets are available on a first-come first-served basis and may be reserved via the Front Desk.
