“The Larchmont Shore Club can trace its origin to a meeting of 75 people held at the Larchmont Avenue Church on July 27, 1925 Of those assembled that day, 53 banded together for the purpose of purchasing the home and the grounds of the recently deceased Rudolf Schaefer and establishing a beach and social club along the bordering Long Island Sound. Ultimately, the group, lead by Harold V. Bozell, later 1st president of the Club, A C Robinson, and A W Combs, was able to purchase 6.5 acres of the total property. The Larchmont Shore Club - known as the Larchmont Beach Club until August 18, 1925 - was a reality ” - from the book, The Larchmont Shore Club at 75!
