SAIL MAIL
WEEK ONE IS IN THE BOOKS!
Hope all the sailors had a blast in their first week of sailing! I know the sailing team has loved meeting everybody and seeing everyone out on the water with smiles on their faces. Despite some stormy weather on Monday and Tuesday, the sailors were still able to get out on the water and learn a ton. THE WEEK AHEAD
Just as a reminder, we do not have Sailing on July 4th and we'll be celebrating Halloween on Friday, July 7th. Please have your sailor dress up in their best costume so they can be prepared for trick or treating!
OPTIS
This week our Opti Ones were able to all complete their swim and capsize tests and get out on the water! They all learned how to rig on land, and started to learn how to steer their boats and control their rudder movement. This week our Opti 2s wasted no time and got in their boats with sails up on day one! They did an amazing job sailing a figure 8 course and doing some upwind sailing.
LASERS
Our laser sailor hopped into a laser for the first time and was basically a natural. He has been working on racing in a laser and body movement/positioning.
FEVAS
Our AM Fevas learned how to rig and sail a feva for the first time. They did a great job learning how to tack in a double handed boat and working on their points of sail. For our PM Fevas some were able to get introduced to racing and the rules of the road while others learned the basics of feva sailing and how to rig.
