/ Using Brand Guidelines As I mentioned earlier, the main problem is consistency in order to be recognisable. This can very easily be solved by developing a clear brand guideline from communication strategies, mission statements and by identifying the audience. “Brand guidelines are clearly defined rules and standards that communicate how your brand should be represented to the world. Brand guidelines help businesses ensure consistency and demonstrate what the company is, what it does, and what it stands for. Think of it like a brand ‘rulebook’ that centralizes the overall look and feel of your brand identity.” (https://www.bynder.com/en/ glossary/brand-guidelinesdefinition/=) Developing a brand gudieline will benefit in muliple ways, and most of all help keep consistency, especially if there are multiple designers working for the company and managing
social media platforms. The first thing to do is doing research and defining the company by asking questions like; What are you saying? To whom? How are you saying it? From there you can determine how the design aspect of the brand can be represented and communicated to the audience, for example by; - Picking out one or two typefaces (header and body text) - Picking out weight, scale and hierarchy acceptable for typography communicated by the brand - Picking a recognisable colour scheme Here you can see an example of a brand guideline, and on the next page you can see a brand guideline example I made for TQH. This is an absolute rough draft derived from the logo shown on page 22, and can be completed to the companies standard in coming months.
