LETTER FROM THE
The extreme heat advisory that we have been experiencing can be
compared to the heat our team members at the chamber are creating with our upcoming events! They are doing a phenomenal job keeping your Chamber members active and engaged in our La Porte-Bayshore community. It is hard to believe that summer is here, and I hope you are all enjoying some time away from work and enjoying time with your loved ones. I sure did in Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo. It is always great going to Mexico, eating amazing local food, enjoying the blue ocean, seeing my feet underwater, and enjoying my culture. The water there reminded me of Sylvan Beach. They are equally beautiful! Getting away allows me to slow down and realize how blessed we are as Americans and how lucky we are to be part of a great community in La Porte, TX. It makes me appreciate our community and the things that, as a chamber, we can do to support one another.
Thank all our members and the chamber staff for a successful Sylvan Beach Event. We were blessed to have had a record number of 66 corporate sponsors that partnered with us. $18,000 was awarded in local scholarships to our La Porte ISD students and $5,000 to other local non-profit organizations. Your time, contribution, and monetary support made this a successful event. THANK YOU!
Remember that we have our SOLD OUT! State of the Precinct Luncheon: on July 20th. The Fill The Bus School Supply Drive will happen on July 28th, followed by the Hook, Line, and Sinker Fishing Tournament on July 29th. Our back-to-school events will be happening in August—

I am happy to announce that our La Porte-Bayshore family is growing, and I would like to say WELCOME to Jacob Gabriel Martin, the newest addition to the Martin family. I would also like us to welcome our administrative assistant, Jackie, to our La Porte-Bayshore Chamber of Commerce team! Your La Porte- Bayshore Chamber works hard to ensure our members get plugged in and involved in our various events. Jackie will be able to assist and allow Megan, Jeff, and Naomi to catch a breath and continue forward with the upcoming projects and opportunities for our members to connect and enjoy the membership benefits that our chamber offers. I want to recognize Megan Weaver for her fifteen years of service to our chamber. Her loyalty, passion, and dedication make her valuable to our La Porte-Bayshore organization. We have something in common I will be celebrating fifteen years at Beacon FCU this year!
Please continue to assist, volunteer and connect with your fellow chamber members. “People do business with people they know!” Tracey Wheeler.
Have a great summer and I look forward to seeing you at our next event!

Many area residents recognize Compton’s as a La Porte staple for decades now. Compton’s Florist, a full-service, family-owned and operated floral shop, has been serving our community and the Houston metro area since 1956!
But, they’re not just renowned for their friendly service and quality florals; they are responsible for many of the homecoming mums and garters over generations, often hearing stories from their happy customers recalling their high school days. Additionally, Compton’s offers small gifts, home decor, and goodie baskets to compliment floral arrangements.
Let’s not forget to mention their servant hearts – You can oftentimes find them helping out around town with various events with a smile on their face.
For beautiful, fresh flowers in La Porte, Compton’s Florist has exactly what you’re looking for! Check out their wide selection of flower arrangements to make your next occasion memorable!

Member News: Six LyondellBasell Facilities Recognized with Top Safety Awards
HOUSTON, TX, June 28, 2023 – LyondellBasell is proud to announce six of the U.S. manufacturing facilities have been awarded the highest safety awards in the industry at the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers’ (AFPM) 2022 Annual Safety Awards.
The AFPM Safety Awards Program is part of a comprehensive safety program developed to promote accident prevention in the petroleum refining and petrochemical manufacturing industries.
“LyondellBasell is committed to the highest safety standards and our sites embody a culture of continuous improvement. Exceptional occupational and process safety performance is part of who we are and receiving these prestigious awards exemplifies
that,” said Dale Friedrichs, Executive Vice President, Operational Excellence and HSE.
The Distinguished Safety Award is the highest level award provided by AFPM and is awarded to the top few sites with outstanding safety performance, program innovation and safety leadership. The Bayport Complex was one of only three facilities in the entire industry to receive this award.
“The Distinguished Safety Award is a great honor, and belongs to every one of the employees of the Bayport sites. They embraced the need for different approaches to unlock differential results, and in the process delivered incredible GoalZERO performance.
