usic stars across the spectrum, from opera to jazz, met up at The Village Market to raise funds for a boys’ home in Nairobi.
The Poperazzi Charity Concert was held at Tamambo
Bar & Grill on 9 August to raise funds for the Ahadi Boys Home Education Fund. The Kenyan international opera stars Rhonda Odeng and Zak Njoroge were performing alongside the American rhythm and blues singer Aimée Crowl. A jazz trio performed with Aimée Crowl. She has performed at the National Presidential Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC, the Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony for the late Prof Wangari Maathai, and Glyndebourne Opera Festival in England. She has also performed with orchestras and musicians in North America, Asia and Europe. • Zachariah Njoroge: Zak has performed in concerts and with orchestras in Europe, Kenya, and at Carnegie Hall in New York. A scholarship recipient of Buchmann-Mehta School of Music Programme for Outstanding Foreign Students, Zak is an inspiration to young Kenyan musicians. • Aimée Crowl: The R&B singer released her first album in 2007. She was performing solo and in duet with the opera stars. • Nduati Kareithi: One of Kenya’s most talented pianists, Nduati has performed with many musicians in Kenya and previously with both Rhoda and Zak.
