Jean Alexandre Promio (1868–1926) was a camera operator for the Lumière brothers. Countless films by him are listed in the «Catalogue Lumière» from 1896 to 1926. In 1897, he spent several months in Egypt and in the Ottoman Empire, where «Arrivée d’un train» was shot in Jaffa (now part of Tel Aviv) on 3 April 1897.
