An alumna of The University of Texas, Dawna began her business and real estate career in Austin. Her extensive real estate background began with being a commercial and residential real estate appraiser. During this time she gained invaluable knowledge of the Austin and Central Texas real estate communities and property values.

In 1994, Dawna joined Amelia Bullock Realtors where she established herself as a broker associate with a strong reputation as a relocation specialist for both buyers and sellers. She became known as a reliable and resourceful professional with valuable contacts throughout Austin’s business and financial communities. Her relocation experience led her to be a preferred broker for several high-tech companies, including an international group who moved their corporate headquarters to Austin from the West Coast. In 2014, Amelia Bullock Realtors sold to Kuper Sotheby’s International Realty and this is where you will find Dawna continuing to help past and current clients with all aspects of real estate.

Dawna Cekuta of Sotheby’s was referred to us by my wife’s company’s relocation department. We were relocating from Seattle to Austin, interviewed 3 different realtors, and chose Dawna because of her engagement level, her positive attitude, and her deep knowledge of the area that we were targeting. Itwas a very challenging market for buyers, with homes selling before they ever went on market, regularlyselling for well over asking price, and multiple competing offers within hours or days of a house going onthe market. Despite the hysteria, Dawna didn’t rush us. She spent the time we needed exploring themarket remotely, by sending us information and answering questions while we were in Seattle, by spending a ton of time with us showing us the area and examples of homes in each neighborhood of the school district we decided to target for our daughter when we came to Austin, and then once we settled on one neighborhood, staying laser focused on everything that happened in that neighborhood. She listened very well, asked good critical questions to help us ensure we were clearly thinking through our focusing process, and occasionally provided information about other areas that we may not haveconsidered yet. The neighborhood we decided to target was in extremely high demand, and Dawna supported our decision and didn’t try to just sell us something anywhere. Once we identified that neighborhood, she utilized her network to find out when houses were going to come to market, and get us involved with them, before they ever came on market. She pre-checked the houses out for us, helped us only put energy on those that were good for our family, and ensured we had a chance at the pre-market sales that almost no-one else was even seeing. She knows the other realtors in the area, and she was a great representative keeping us in the game when most people were getting frustrated. We made several offers that weren’t successful, and she helped us stay sensible, not overpaying for houses that weren’t exactly right. When we finally found the one that was, despite there being a very difficult seller who kept changing their mind about if they wanted to sell, when they wanted to sell and how much they would accept or not, she helped us stay in touch and make the right communications, offers, and cooling off periods to finally close that deal at the most reasonable price possible and get us into our house. She coached and supported us through all the skills we had to have in that market, knowing exactly what we wanted and where we could be flexible, being prepared, informed, focused, decisive,and strategically patient when appropriate. After we bought our house, Dawna helped my mother relocate to the area and buy a house nearby as well, and Mom had a great experience with her too. Dawna has stayed in touch with all of us and kept us abreast of market trends and answered numerous questions about home improvements and their effect on our home’s value, as well as referring us to providers. Most recently, when we recently decided to buy a retirement home on the beach in Florida, she spent considerable time researching realtors all along the Atlantic coast and connecting us with several outstanding realtors that helped us in a similar challenging area scouting and home buying process there. Dawna is skilled, savvy, energetic, persistent, and very pleasant to work with, and we can’t recommend her enough.
