Kuna Kung Fu
I have been training martial arts most of my life. But it wasn’t until I became a disabled veteran that I found the real value of martial arts.
My name is Kyle Wooten, and I’m the owner of Kuna Kung Fu. Like many of you, I’m sure, I used to think martial arts was, at best, about aging gracefully; and at worse, something only good for teaching discipline and focus to children. Kung Fu is an incredibly well-rounded subject, which actually has almost nothing to do with fighting. Instead, the training is much more about using exercise, precision, focus, and consistent effort to become someone better. As such, there are aspects that are beneficial to nearly everyone, especially adults!

I bring this up because I know there are many benefits available to people, but they simply don’t know that Kung Fu is one way to get it.
In my mind, a teacher of martial arts should be a pillar of the community –dependable and compassionate, who improves the lives of those around them
by their presence and efforts. They should be someone who inspires integrity and self -cultivation and goodness in others by being a shining example of the same. And one day, I hope I’ll be good enough to be described as such. Until then, I provide service to the community through my acupuncture clinic (Did I mention that is me, too?), but I also serve through the Kung Fu and Tai Chi classes, and I hope to do that more in the future.
So this is my reminder to folks that Kung Fu is not just some fighting thing, some enlightenment thing, some Eastern continued on page 9

Kuna Kung Fu continued from page 1 thing (though it can be those for the people that train that way). Kung Fu is a tool; use it how you want to develop the skills you want. Use the framework to make yourself better in whatever way benefits you most!
With that in mind, I have a variety of classes I invite you to try. You want Self Defense and strength and fitness? Join the Hung Ga classes. You want more mindfulness and balance and general health? Join the Tai Chi class or the Online Qigong classes. You want special training, individual attention, and even accelerated growth? Try some private classes. And of course, I do group classes and seminars (often self defense, but not limited to that). Come visit, or give me a call, or check out my website… follow your curiosity and see what we can do!
