“Our vision is to be the school of choice for our local community, developing successful young people with high aspirations, who show respect for all and endeavour to become the very best that they can be.”
RVHS Bulletin Aspiration Respect Endeavour Weekending Friday 24th April 2020 Message from the Headteacher I really hope that everyone is keeping safe and my thoughts are with all in our community, especially those families and staff who have been so sadly effected by the virus. The school may be closed to the majority but can I reiterate that we remain committed to the welfare and support of all our students during this time. Please do contact us if you need more support or guidance during this time. I hope you have received my letter which was emailed to all parents and students on Friday 17th April, providing an update to the current situation. Letter Headteacher. This letter also drew your attention to the following important and useful documents, which the school has written to support your child’s Home learning: Updated Home Learning Booklet The Students Quick Guide to Using Google Classroom RVHS Guidance to Home Learning Timetable – practical advice on timing expectations Parent guidance and support If you did not receive this communication, please visit our school website, you will find a link to website to all of these documents. We will be sending home additional advice to our Year 11s next week, which will include transition work towards A Level study as appropriate. Please also note that the government has this week launched the following learning platforms, Oak National Academy - https://www.thenational.academy/ and BBC Bitesize Daily lessons Your child should continue to follow the guidelines set by the school but I have asked teachers to incorporate resources into the work being set. However, these platforms have some great additional resources that can be used at home. We have now started our welfare checks on students so you should expect to hear from the school within the next week. As part of this initial process, all students will have received (by Friday 24.4.2020) an email with a student survey for them to complete. This survey is aimed at helping us monitor student well-being and judge how students are adapting to this different way of life. This survey will help us with supporting our students moving forward. Please encourage your child to complete the survey as soon as possible (it will only take 2 minutes!) Currently, we have not been provided with any information as to when schools will be reopening, but I will keep you updated as soon as I am aware of any changes by government.
