"Creating comfortable spaces that everyone can enjoy" has been KOTOBUKI's basic philosophy since its inception. For this, safety and quality are essential. As a creator of public spaces, KOTOBUKI's mission is to satisfy the various requirements related to resistance, durability, comfort and safety of seats while maintaining good finishes.

High-quality seats are indispensable in public spaces such as opera houses and concert halls, where people of different origins are inspired by the same cultural activities; on the soccer and baseball fields, where people share the same passion; and in educational facilities, where ergonomics is applied in the quest to nurture the next generation.

The need for reliable seats is universal. Focusing on people's need to feel safe, KOTOBUKI pursues "comfortable seats" based on our firm belief that "peace of mind is the foundation of enjoyment."

We are proud the UD concept has been KOTOBUKI’s constant pursuit in its century-long history, resulting in tangible outcomes.

Our concepts for "Universal Design," "Ecology" and "Long Life" of products are the basis of our product creation, and they continue to evolve.

KOTOBUKI was created in 1914 and then an immediate cycle of international trade began, thinking about the needs of the Japanese and the commercialization of European products.

With the development of seats for the University of Tokyo and the Imperial Hotel, with the highest level of finishes, comfort, design and durability, KOTOBUKI’s philosophy begins, thus allowing a company created in Japan to grow with order and serenity, until becoming the most important group in the world dedicated to seating for public spaces.

Minoru Fujisawa, CTO, designed in the 50s, the Micro Space model, perhaps the most copied seat in the world. With a very intelligent design, it contains a gravity mechanism enabling a minimum dimension of the folded seat, which allows adaptation to all multipurpose systems. It is still today the best-selling model in the world.

Examining a product that has a design that is more than 70 years young in time generates perplexity and admiration at the same time.

Cuando se creó KOTOBUKI en 1914 se inició una era de comercio internacional, atendiendo las necesidades de los japoneses comercializando productos europeos.

Con el desarrollo de asientos para la Universidad de Tokio y para el Hotel Imperial, con el más alto nivel de acabados, confort, diseño y durabilidad, nace la filosofía de KOTOBUKI que ha permitido que una empresa creada en Japón crezca con orden y serenidad, hasta convertirse en el grupo más importante del mundo dedicado a los asientos para espacios públicos. Actualmente, la cuarta generación continúa comprometida en la mejora continua de sus soluciones técnicas y productivas.

Minoru Fujisawa, Responsable de Ingeniería de KOTOBUKI, diseñó en los años 50 el modelo Micro Space, quizás la butaca más copiada del mundo, con un diseño muy inteligente que incluye un mecanismo de gravedad, y que actualmente es uno de los más vendidos. KOTOBUKI developed telescopic platforms in the early 1950s, when the need for spaces in order to gain profitability by means of multiple uses began to be appreciated, especially in Japan. The high price of real estate in Japan makes a higher initial investment pay off in a very short time. Likewise, the telescopic platforms introduced in Europe by KOTOBUKI in the early 80s, became popular and appreciated 15 years later.

KOTOBUKI, desarrolló las gradas telescópicas a principios de los años 50, cuando se empezó a apreciar la necesidad de usos múltiples para ganar rentabilidad en los espacios, especialmente en Japón, a causa del elevado coste del terreno, que hace que una mayor inversión inicial se amortice en poco tiempo. La grada telescópica introducida por KOTOBUKI en Europa a principios de los 80, no se popularizó en su uso hasta 15 años después.
