There is no longer an environment untouched from human activity. The space in which people act is characterized by its alteration, from something that looked natural, to something that is used directly or indirectly in the continuation of life.
In Greek state where from the beginning the economy was based on the primary sector, the domestication of the nature of the pre-industrial period was expressed in various ways. Agricultural production, the main vehicle of development, defined it and initiated the various spatial changes.
The research thesis illustrates how this important economic activity acted as a catalyst to produce space, both urban and rural. Especially it examines how the road, rail and maritime networks, other infrastructure directly or indirectly related to the production, but also infrastructure resulting from the exploitation of the export profits, were placed on the territory, and eventually altered it.
