Two die in freak accident

A contractor’s bakkie landed under a tractor on 15 July when the driver of the bakkie overtook the tractor and then swerved right in front of the tractor when he noticed an oncoming vehicle. Two lives were lost and the third passenger is still in a critical condition.

STANDERTON - Two persons lost their lives on Friday 15 July, around 07:50 when the bakkie they were traveling in landed under a tractor. According to information, the bakkie overtook the tractor and noticed too late that there was a vehicle coming from ahead. The bakkie swerved to the left, clipping the

tractor’s front wheel and overturned right in front of the tractor.

The tractor could not stop in time and landed on top of the overturned bakkie.

Two people were crushed to death and the third passenger is still fighting for his life in hospital. A case of culpable homicide is under investigation. JD

Major success for flying squad

35 000 litres of diesel, with an estimated value of R2 million was confiscated by the Secunda Flying Squad on 14 July. It is assumed that the diesel was bought from diesel truck drivers transporting diesel and then re-sold in Gauteng.

SECUNDA - On Thursday, 14 July at about 07:00, members of the Secunda Flying Squad noticed suspicious activity on a farm just outside of Leandra (Leslie).

Upon investigation it was discovered that a barn contained 18 000 litres of diesel that was being stored inside. A truck was parked next to the barn which was already loaded with 17 000 litres of diesel. Two Jojo tanks were also found at the scene of which one contained diesel. A total of 35 000 litres of diesel was recovered.

Two pumps, a Nissan bakkie and a Mercedes Sprinter used to trans-

port diesel were also found. Four suspects were arrested immediately on the scene. Another suspect believed to be in charge of the whole operation was also arrested when he tried to bribe the police for R 10 000. The total value of all items recovered is estimated at R 2 000 000. It is alleged that the suspects were buying the diesel from drivers who were transporting diesel for big companies.

The suspects then store the diesel until they have enough and then they hire a tanker truck to take the diesel to Gauteng were it will allegedly be sold. JD

STANDERTON - A bus loaded with passengers travelling from Newcastle to Johannesburg was gutted by fire less than 10 km outside Standerton on Sunday, 17 July. More than fifty passengers escaped from the burning bus without any injuries.

An eye witness told the police that there was chaos when screaming passengers were trying to flee from the flames - all of them running towards the doors.

Thanks to the bus driver and his assistant, they managed to control the situation despite the panic of the passengers.

According to a statement made by the driver, he noticed smoke coming from the engine, and immediately slowed down, but as he was looking for a safe place to stop, he saw sparks coming from the engine. He stopped the bus and calmly announced to the passengers

that there was a fire in the engine. With the help of his assistant they guided the passengers out of the bus safely. Some passengers attempted to jump through the windows, but he managed to calm them down until all were out. The driver told police that the fire was gaining momentum under the bus and that they tried to put out the fire with extinguishers but the flames were very intense. Seconds later the petrol tank exploded and chaos erupted.

Lekwa’s Emergency Services rushed to the scene, but when they arrived it was too late to save the bus. Angry flames had already gutted the bus. Most of the passengers lost their belongings but escaped injuries. Captain Johannes Nhlabathi said there was no case registered because it was evident that the fire was caused by a mechanical fault. Meyerville’s water woes reach dry point STANDERTON - Numerous complaints were received by Cosmos News about the water supply in Meyerville - especially during the night.

The enquiry was forwarded to the spokesperson of Lekwa Local Municipality and this was the reply received: “The Municipality closes the water in Meyerville at 20:00 and opens it again at 05:00 in-order to increase the water level of the round reservoirs that augment the square reservoir.

The square reservoir supply water to the high-lying area of Extensions 6 and 7.”

As far as could be determined, the residents of Meyerville were not approached or notified of this decision where the local municipality denies residents a basic human right - water! JD

Safeguard your vehicle SECUNDA - Based on statistics, theft of and from vehicles, amongst other crimes, became a threat to the police and the community, and as a result it is now also a priority of the police station. The office of the Station Commander of Secunda Police Station, Colonel GW Nel, has come up with an action plan to curb these crimes and prevent them from taking place.

The office of the Station Commander is greatly concerned about the safety and the valuable property of the community, so Secunda Police would like to sensitize the community to adhere to the following preventative measures to protect, safeguard and prevent the problematic crimes from happening.

1. Never leave your vehicle in the driveway unattended, especially during the night.

2. Park you vehicle inside your garage or at a secured area for example lockable carport.

3. Always ensure that your vehicle is properly locked before walking away.

4. Ensure that your vehicle is fitted with a security alarm system and other security

devices to protect it from being stolen.

5. Never leave valuable property inside the vehicle, especially on seats or dashboards.

6. Install or ensure that security gates are fitted correctly and locked at all times.

The choice is yours!

“For those who He foreknew, He also destined from the beginning to be molded into the image of His Son, that He might become the firstborn among many brethren. And those whom He thus foreordained, He also called; and those whom He called, He also justified.

And those whom He justified, He also glorified.” (Romans 8:29-30) Do you realise that before you were born, you were predestined for greatness?

There are so many social media picturequotes being circulated these days proclaiming that, “YOU, are the creator of your own destiny!” Those words ignite a certain flair inside you that prompts you to walk taller, talk faster and for a short while you feel you have the confidence to assert your needs pro-actively. The Bible says in Genesis 2:7 that, the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Furthermore, in Acts 17 verse 25 we read that God is not worshiped with men’s hands (our efforts), as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. The first choice about your life was made by God, the day He created you and breathed His life into you. Let’s face it, without His breath of life we would all just be mud-figurines, but God never wanted to put us on a shelf. The story of your life was written by Him before you

were even born (Psalms 139:16).

He promises that His story of your life is filled with hope and prosperous adventures (Jeremiah 29:11). He is the beginning and the end of all things (Revelation 22:13).

He gave the first man and woman, Adam and Eve everything they could ever dream of to live the good life. He also gave them the ability to choose, known today as free-will or the freedom of choice. Yet, our enemy Satan, the father of all lies convinced them to give up their freedom by eating from the one tree that God had commanded them not to, which he (Satan) told them would make them like God, knowing all things. Adam and Eve fell for the enemy’s lies and chose to give up their freedom for their need to feel in control, and because of their choice, the earth fell.

Thankfully our eternal, almighty Father God loves us so much that He chose to send His only son Jesus Christ to redeem us from the curse. He rose from the dead and declared all who believe in Him righteous before God, forever (Romans 5:19). You might be thinking how Adam and Eve could have been so stupid. Just like them we still have the gift or curse of choice today, but unlike them we can learn from their stupid mistakes and choose wisely.

Open letter to uniform bearers After attending numerous crime and accident scenes, it has come to the attention of media representatives that it seems as if police officials are not totally up to date on how to deal with the media. The incident (an accident on the Tutuka road) on Friday, 15 July, was one of these instances where media representatives were threatened by a very junior police official to leave the area. According to said constable, he was in control of the scene and the media had to ask him permission to conduct their work.

At no stage was any media representative behind the single barrier-tape line (there wasn’t any) inside the accident scene nor did they interfere with the ongoing rescue work.

According to the Standing Order (General) 156 (paragraph 10:3(a)), the media may be prohibited in terms of section 69 of the South African Police Service Act, 1995, from publishing certain photographs and sketches, but a media representative may not be prohibited from taking photographs or making visual recordings.

In (b) it is stated that a media representative who conducts him/herself in a manner that may disturb evidence or hinder or obstruct a (police) member in the exercise of his powers or in the performance of his duties

or functions in a cordoned-off area, must courteously be requested to leave the crime scene or the cordoned-off area. In (c) it is clearly stated that under no circumstances may a media representative be verbally or physically abused and cameras or other equipment may not be seized. Under no circumstances whatsoever, may a (police) member wilfully damage the camera, film, recording or other equipment of a media representative.

Paragraph 4 further states that whenever a (police) member performs a function of the (Police) Service in public, such member represents the Service and he or she must conduct him/herself in such a manner that he or she promotes the image of the Service as a professional Service. Such (police) members must therefore refrain from making ill-considered, irresponsible, discriminatory statements or comments or using foul language.

No media representative from Cosmos News are interested in publishing photographs of deceased persons and are all of the opinion that one’s attitude, actions and humane inclination forms the basis of a good journalist. Reverand Nic­ holaas James Schoombee (Nick) was the Minister at the Angli­ can Church in Standerton for a number of years.

He was born on 20 July 1945 and passed away in New Zealand on 5 July 2016.

Municipality fails to inform The 2016/17 tabled MTREF Budget documentation in circulation and submitted to the National Treasury by the Municipality formulated Service Level Standards were not attached to the approved budget as required by MFMA Circulars 72 and 75. There is a lack of information about the level and standard of services which the administration of the Municipality is required to provide to the public in terms of the Municipal Systems Act. This should not be construed for IDP and Service Delivery and Budget Implementation Plan (SDBIP).

The Annual Budget is a public document. Section 75(1) (a) of the MFMA read with Section 21A of the Systems Act requires that it must be available on the Municipal Website.

The latter legislative requirements also apply to Performance Agreement of Municipal Manager and Managers reporting to him (Section 75(1) (d) of MFMA).

A Draft “Service Standard Charter� to assist municipalities to complete a Service Delivery Charter was drafted by SALGA, where they will commit to the level and standard for all services which they will deliver in their municipal area.

The municipality is operating without a Service Standard Charter committing to, among other things, timeframes for the approval of building plans, fixing a pothole, sewer spillages, renewal of a vehicle licence and water leakages etc.

The Annual Reports are always fraught with achievements which cannot be measured or verified. The Framework for Managing Programme Performance Information (FMPPI) which was issued by NT deals with the management of the programme performance information component which must be adhered to. As long as the Municipality is not

complying with the FMPPI it must just as well forget about receiving a clean audit report from the OAG. Section 20(2)(c) of the Public Audit Act (25 of 2004) requires the Auditor-General’s audit report to reflect an opinion or conclusion on the reported information relating to performance against predetermined objectives of the Municipality as indicated by sections 4(1) and 4(3) of the Act. Setting of Service Standards is an integral part of the service delivery value chain. It provides transparency in understanding performance indicators (KPIs) (i.e. in the Service Delivery and Budget Implementation Plan (SDBIP) and hence will strengthen the entire Performance Management System. In addition it ensures accountability on the part of the officials responsible for providing the service.

Local government is classified in the service delivery and governance category and as such needs to be clear on what the public at large can expect as a Service Delivery Standard. Ratepayers must be placed in a position by which they are able to measure the service outputs against the predetermined Service Standards.

This also serves as a performance rating instrument (Performance Rating against the SDBIP and Performance Contract of Municipal Manager and Managers directly reporting to him) at an organisational and individual level.

It is for this reason that a municipality must adopt Services Standards as part of their strategic objectives and report on the achievements.

The Municipality was required to formulate Service Standards by the end of January 2015 which was to form part

of the 2015/16 draft MTREF budget documentation. The Service Standards were to be tabled before the Municipal Council for formal adoption with the 2015/16 draft budget in March 2015) the same with 2016/17 Draft budget. The Service Standards should have at a minimum incorporated the administrative, technical, and economic development categories of the municipality.

A template for completion by all Municipalities was also attached to Circular 75 Management of Municipality is reminded of Regulation 13 of the Municipal Planning and Performance Management Regulations, 2001 which provides that: (1) A municipality must, after consultation with the local community, develop and implement mechanisms, systems and processes for the monitoring, measurement and review of performance in respect of the key performance targets set by it.

(2) The mechanisms, systems and processes for monitoring in terms of sub regulation (1) must(b) be designed in a manner that enables the municipality to detect early indications of underperformance and (c) provide for corrective measures where underperformance has been identified.

Lastly, if you do not measure results, you cannot tell success from failure, if you cannot see success, you cannot reward it, if you cannot reward success, you are probably rewarding failure, if you cannot see success, you cannot learn from it, if you cannot recognise failure, you cannot correct it. Waterkripdosering, ‘n wêreld-eerste

Waterkripdoseringstablette is die nuutste doseringsproduk en metode op die mark om skape, beeste, perde, volstruise of wild vir uitwendige en inwendige parasiete te doseer.

Dit is ‘n gepatenteerde tablet, so ook die doserings-metode.

Dit word deur Bavati verspreiders vervaardig, bemark en versprei, onder die naam EKO Waterkripdoseringstablette, asook onder die naam oplosbare waterkripdoseringstablette.

Dit werk eenvoudig, sonder enige arbeid, krale, geen spanning vir jou of jou diere nie, dis net ‘n plesier om weer met vee en wild te boer. Geen gevangery van diere nie, net ‘n tablet wat jy weekliks in die waterkrip onder die waterklep (”ball valve”) gooi - dit is eenvoudig.

Om die sukses van hierdie dosering te ervaar moet die krippe weekliks skoongemaak word anders ruik die water maklik oud en is onsmaaklik vir diere. Waterkripdoseringstablette kan saam met enige chemiese dosering gebruik word - daar behoort geen newe effekte te wees nie Die metode van dosering wat gebruik word is ook gepatenteer. Die waterkrippe moet eers skoon gewas word om alle slik en modder uit die waterkrip te verwyder. Daarna word die doseringstablette onder die waterklep (ball valve) gegooi en gelos om stadig oor plus minus sewe dae of langer op te los, die diere drink elke dag plus minus twee keer op ‘n dag daarvan. Die tablette los stadig op en meng met die water, sodra die water deur die waterklep loop of spoel om die waterkrip vol te maak.

Sodra die diere suip word hulle met die waterkripdosering, wat nou met die drinkwater gemeng is, gevul. Die dosering word nou in die dier se liggaam- en bloedstelsel opgeneem en vrygestel en sodoende weer dit die parasiete af.

Deur die metode reg te gebruik hoef jy nie jou skape/beeste kraal toe te jaag en ‘n hele dag daar te spandeer om jou diere te doseer en skoon te maak nie, jy gooi slegs twee tablette vir elke 25 liter water in ‘n skoon waterkrip.

Daar moet voorkomend opgetree word en gesorg word dat die dam sowel as die suipkrippe skoon is van swartalge.

Dit is ‘n alg wat redelik algemeen voorkom in damwater en is geneig om water te laat stink en vrot ruik. Diere hou as

‘n reël nie van vuil of vrot water nie. Let op of die dam vol modder of watergrasse is. Die alg groei tydens die verrotings prosesse van ou plant materiaal in die dam of krippe.

Die hoë standaarde wat gehandhaaf word tydens die proewe wys net die erns waarmee al die proewe gedoen word.

Die proewe word gedoen onder ‘n hoog-aangeskrewe veearts se oog, die skaapmismonsters word deur homself ondersoek waarna ons die toetse saam bespreek. Alle diere moet teen bloednier, bloutong, perdesiekte en alle virussiektes geënt wees voor u met die doseringsprogram kan begin.

Neuswurm en lintwurm onder drie maande is uitgesluit van hierdie dosering, omdat lammers in sekere gevalle nog nie self by die waterkrip water drink nie.

Lammers kan dit aktief in sekere gevalle deur sy moeder se melk inneem, maar nie altyd nie. Doseer dus alle lammers onder drie maande vir lintwurms. Moenie kanse vat daarmee nie. Tydens ons proewe was daar in 2009 -71 gevalle van brommeraanvalle, 2010 was daar net 1 geval, en in 2011 was daar net 1 geval aan die einde van Maart in ‘n trop van 1500 ooie.

• Hierdie doseringsproduk en metode is ‘n wêreldeerste.

• Dit is die eerste en die enigste veedosering volgens ons kennis wat al die velddiere, byvoorbeeld duikers, steenbokke, ystervarke, jakkalse, hase en wildevoëls byvoorbeeld kraaie, tarentale, valke, uile ens. asook akkedisse en muise doseer.

• Alle velddiere kan doseer word teen inwendige sowel as uitwendige parasiete terwyl hulle saam met die vee water drink. Hierdie velddiere is van die grootste parasietdraers op die plaas en versprei die parasiete op die snaakste plekke, byvoorbeeld in die rantjies en berge, onder klippe, onder bosse, in die langgras. Dit is die ideale omstandighede en geskikte area waar parasiete uitbroei en voortplant. Dit is een van die ou tradisionele dosering se groot tekorte, die veld is/was nooit skoon gedoseer nie.

• Twee tablette vir elke 25 liter water in die waterkrip

– so maklik soos dit. Maar onthou daar mag net een drinkplek in die veld wees byvoorbeeld waar daar ‘n spruit of rivierwater in dieselfde kamp is, sal die tablette nie effektief werk nie.

Die groot oorsaak van onsuiwer of brommeraanvalle by skape is haakwurm. Die haakwurm het tande of snyplate in hul mondholtes en daarmee dring hulle die pens se slymvliese binne. Terselfdertyd spuit hulle dikwels ‘n teenstolmiddel in die wond wat verhinder dat die bloed stol. Dit gebeur dan dat ‘n skaap vinnig bloed verloor en binne ‘n paar dae vrek.

Brommeraanvalle veral in die mikgebied van skape word veroorsaak deur die besoedeling van die gebied met vloeibare mis weens inwendige parasiete in die derm- kanaal wat die oorsaak is van die nat en vrot wol agter by wolskape.

Dit gebeur omdat parasietweerstand ontstaan teen chemiese doserings. Die chemiese dosering kom nie meer die mas alleen op nie. JD

EKO Waterkripdoseringstablette is vir inwendige en uitwendige parasiete. Die dosering se aktiewe bestandele word in die bloed van die diere opgeneem en maak die inwendige sowel as uitwendige parasiete dood.

Thiele Estates het 13 Julie ‘n uitstekende eerste produksieveiling op hul plaas Schickhoek naby Paulpietersburg aangebied en 100% verkope is op die top-aanbod behaal. Die duurste Braford-bul (foto) word verkoop vir R81 000 aan Carl de Jager van Ladysmith.

Die gemiddeld oor 30 bulle was R35 300. Die duurste dragtige verse (lot 33 A, TH 12-306 en B, TH 12-315) verkoop vir R15 250 aan Stefan Boshoff van Ladysmith. Die gemiddeld oor die dragtige verse was R12 720. OVK CMW het die veiling aangebied met PM Swart as afslaer.

Pensioner receives a new house on Mandela Day STANDERTON - It was a wonderful day for granny Elizabeth Mbatha (65) of Shivovo Section in Sakhile when she received a brand new house in commemoration of Mandela Day. Thanks to Gert Sibande TVET College for their generous assistance to this pensioner, who for many years was living in a shack with her four grandchildren. Scores of people witnessed the handover of a new two-bedroom house to granny Mbatha on Sunday,17 July. The emotionally charged occasion was graced by the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande. Lekwa Local Municipality’s Executive Mayor, Councillor Linda Dhlamini, accompanied by a handful of councillors, was also present.

The project was funded by the community development fund of the college as well as contributions from various business partners. College students built the house under the supervision of qualified building contractors and furniture and fittings were sponsored by the college’s business partners. Students and staff contributed towards groceries, a TV set with a DSTV subscription (paid for the whole year).

Dr Nzimande delivered the keynote address wherein he expressed his heartfelt thanks to Gert Sibande TVET College’s management, staff and students, for their generous contribution and making a re-

markable change in someone’s life. He said that the spirit of Ubuntu, towards those less fortunate, is what late President Nelson Mandela stood for. This gesture will leave a significant legacy for generations to come.

The Minister encouraged young people to enrol at the TVET colleges for further skills development. He concluded by urging the community to work with the college for in their skills development courses and the academic advancement of the young generation.

The Principal and Chief Executive Officer of Gert Sibande TVET College, Mr Nick Balkrishen, expressed his appreciation to the college’s council, which is led by chairperson, Mr Paul Magagula, for all the support in every project the college takes on. He attributed the success of the College to the collective contribution of all the stakeholders. Mrs Fikile Mtshali, a member of Gert Sibande TVET College’s council, expressed the Council’s appreciation for the initiative in making the great contribution of shelter to an old lady who has never had the privilege to have a decent home before. “This will remain a constant reminder to everybody that working together we can make the world a better place for all,” she concluded. Deserving woman receives wheelchair

The spirit of Ubuntu and compassion prevailed during the commemoration of Mandela Day when a disabled woman from Rooikoppen, Dudu Thenjekwayo (24), was presented with her very first wheelchair by Standerton Hospital. This was thanks to Standerton SAPS Cluster Commander, Brigadier Lentsoane, who made a call to the hospital and explained her situation to them. At the back is Captain Mahlomola Moloi of the SAPS and in the middle, from left to right, are Lieutenant-Colonel Joyce Jackson, Ms Nomosa Thenjekwayo, Ms Smangele Mkhabela (occupational therapist), Mr Joseph Tsotetsi and Captain Wakin Makhubo. 67 minutes of compassion

Members of Standerton SAPS and the Community Policing Forum, tourist safety monitors, civil workers and staff members of Sakhile Trauma Centre rolled up their sleeves for Mandela Day to bring love and compassion to a less fortunate family of six in Extension 6, Sakhile. The SAPS members donated groceries, while clothes were donated by a warm-hearted member of the community, Mrs Nortjé, and her family. A dedicated team also cleaned the family’s shack and garden. Here are Ms Thandi Radebe and her children flanked by the dedicated team of men and women who used their 67 minutes to make a difference in the family’s life.

Four families benefitted from the project, as the dedicated team of men and women spent the entire day to install the burglar proofing on Monday, 18 July. Standerton Akademie verwelkom nuwe onnies

Standerton Akademie het die kwartaal op ‘n goeie noot afgeskop met ‘n splinternuwe onderwyser wat by die skool se dinamiese span aangesluit het en ‘n studentonderwyser wat haar graad gevang het en nou voltyds by die skool werksaam is. Van links na regs, by mnr Steve Swanepoel (hoof), is me Marilize Roelofse, ‘n gr 2-onderwyser van Pretoria wat by Standerton Akademie se grondslagfase-span aangesluit het en me Alisia Prinsloo wat haar B.Ed-graad aan Unisa voltooi het en nou voltyds by die intermediêrefase-span aansluit.

Helpende Hand help met studies STANDERTON Solidariteit Helpende Hand se Studiefondssentrum (SFS) bied sedert 2009 studielenings vir studente wat tersiêr wil gaan studeer. Hierdie lenings is 100 % rentevry en is dus baie gesog onder mense wat nie kan bekostig om hul kinders te laat studeer nie. Tot op hede is meer as R120 miljoen in studielenings uitbetaal aan verdienstelike Afrikanerkinders.

Op die oomblik het Helpende Hand 209 verskillende studiefondse en in 2016 is daar vir die eerste keer ooit toekennings ter waarde van meer as R31 miljoen gemaak. ’n Enorme 1 248 studente se lewens is vir ewig verander deur die Studiefondssentrum se belegging in hul toekoms.

Volgens Alisha de Lange, Streekorganiseerder van die Mpumalanga streek, is dit ’n geloofsdaad om in jongmense se opvoeding te belê. “Om positief te wees spruit vanuit ’n keuse om te midde van alles wat in ons land gebeur, nog steeds die positiewe raak te sien en dankbaar te wees daarvoor – ’n eenvoudige beginsel, maar nie altyd maklik uitvoerbaar nie,” vertel de Lange.

“Die Studiefondssentrum het soveel positiewe kurwes behaal en is ons vandag dankbaar vir elkeen van ons skenkers en sakevennote wat ingekoop het in ons studiefondsstrategie. Ek nooi ook graag nuwe skenkers uit om saam met ons in die toekoms te glo!”

Liggie-sportsterre haal gesogte topspanne

Ligbron Akademie vir Tegnologie se beste rugby- en hokkiespelers het die afgelope vakansie (tussen 4 en 8 Julie) die jaarlikse Bokkieweek in Kroonstad meegemaak en vir spogvertonings gesorg wat topspanplekke vir hierdie vyf spelers beteken het. Van links na regs is Janke du Plessis wat die o-19-Hoëveldhokkiespan verteenwoordig het en eindelik vir die Gazellespan gekies is, Markus Mostert en Gert Cronjé wat die o-19-Hoëveldrugbyspan verteenwoordig het en vir die Suid-Afrikaanse Bokkiespan gekies is en Nathan Vienings en Ryan Alves wat die o-16-Hoëveldrugbyspan verteenwoordig het en in die Uitnodigingspan opgeneem is. Mostert en Cronjé is as spelers van die wedstryd tydens die Bokkieweek aangewys en sal ‘n toer na Rusland tydens die Oktobervakansie as deel van die nasionale Bokkiespan meemaak.

De Villiers speel vir Hoëveldspan

Melinda de Villiers, ‘n leerling van Hoërskool Standerton, was die afgelope vakansie in aksie tydens die nasionale Bokkieweek in Kroonstad. Sy het vir die o-16-Hoëveldnetbalspan gespeel en haar skool se naam hooggehou. Hier pronk sy in haar amptelike Bokkieweekfoto met haar Hoëveldkleure.

Landsdieners slaan SA-span los

Drie van Laerskool Goedehoop se landsdieners is tydens die streekkamp wat die afgelope vakansie by Warthog Inn in Brits gehou is, in die nasionale span opgeneem. Erriemeisies verteenwoording M’langa tydens SA’s ERMELO - Vyf van Hoërskool Ermelo se fikse netbalmeisies het hul skool die afgelope vakansie tydens die verskillende Suid-Afrikaanse Skolenetbaltoernooie, oftewel SASN-toernooie, verteenwoordig en hul vlag met trots laat wapper. Twee spelers veral het kop-enskouers bo die res uitgestaan en hul merk op nasionale vlak gelaat.

Amy Greyling, ‘n gr 8-leerling, het as kaptein van die o-14 A-Mpumalangaspan tussen 10 en 12 Julie gespeel. Haar span het vir lewendige spel gesorg en die algehele tweedeplek in die land opgeraap. Daléne Klopper, ‘n gr 11-leerling, was op haar beurt lid van die o-17-Mpumalangaspan wat in Kaapstad in aksie tydens hul SASN-toernooi te sien was. Sy het haar tyd in die kollig met ‘n besondere prestasie afgesluit toe op die lys van die top 35 spelers in Suid-Afrika gerang is.

Hoërskool Ermelo se ander sportspanne het ook verskeie toere en toernooie tydens die vakansie meegemaak. Die skool se Facebookbladsy het meer inligting en foto’s hieroor en die skool nooi enigeen uit om hul prestasies te besigtig. DK

Stoeispan terug uit Algerië

Standerton Buiteklub was die afgelope naweek ‘n trekpleister vir plaaslike gholfentoesiaste met ‘n 4-bal-beter-balkompetisie wat Saterdag plaasgevind het. Die spelers het mekaar met naelbyttellings die stryd aangesê en vier spelers opgelewer wat spogtwee’s behaal het. Hier is Jaco Sutherland in aksie. Hy en sy spanmaat, Ruan Botha, het saam 41 punte behaal.

Nico van den Berg van Sasol Stoeiklub (middel ry, tweede van links) was deel van die Suid-Afrikaanse Juniorstoeispan wat aan die Afrika Juniorstoeikampioenskap in Algerië deelgeneem het. Dit was die eerste keer dat hierdie gedugte span in hulle nasionale stoeipakke, wat hulle hier trots vertoon, deelgeneem het.

Malan pronk in nuwe pos

Me Natasha Malan, netbalorganiseerder van Hoërskool Secunda, is pas as hoofafrigter van die Mpumalanga o-21netbalspan aangestel. Almal by dié skool bars van trots.

Eerstes is Hoëveldwenners

Standerton Rugbyklub se eerstespan is Saterdag, na ‘n oortuigende oorwinning van 24-6 teen Ermelo, aangewys as die Hoëveld Senior-ligawenners vir 2016. Die tweedespan het egter naelskraap met 23-25 verloor. Hierdie Saterdag speel die eerstespan teen Barberton om die wenners van die ‘Major Cup’ te bepaal en die publiek word aangemoedig om in hulle honderde op te daag om die Standerton wenspan te ondersteun. Dié span het hul eweknie van Ermelo oortuigend met ‘n eindtelling van 24-6 (18-6 halftyd) geklop. Juan Pieterse en Juan Kotze gaan druk elkeen ‘n drie en Riaan Groenewald verdoel een daarvan en ryg die punte in met drie strafskoppe en ‘n skepskop.

Die tweedespan was egter nie so gelukkig nie en het in die doodsnikke ook teen Ermelo, met 23-25 verloor. Hier gaan druk Eddison Mputhi en Ocker Brits elkeen ‘n drie en Brendan Coetzee verdoel een en slaag met twee strafskoppe.

Die eerstespan speel Saterdag, 23 Julie, in die finaal teen Barberton om die wenners van die ‘Major Cup’ vir hierdie jaar te bepaal.

Die kragmeting vind weer by Hoërskool Standerton se velde plaas en sal om 15:30 afskop.

Sosaties, worsrolletjies en koeldrank sal te koop aangebied word en vir die ondersteuners wat nog nie ‘n ondersteunersbaadjie aangeskaf het nie, sal dit die ideale geleentheid wees om een teen R450 te koop. Moeilike wedvlug vir Standerton-duiwe STANDERTON - Saterdag, 16 Julie se wedvlug vanaf Smithfield was vir die eerste keer hierdie seisoen ‘n redelike moeilike wedvlug vir die duiweboere van Standerton.

Dit blyk dat die duiwe te laat wegbreek wanneer gekombineerde wedvlugte met Pretoria Wedvlug Federasie gevlieg word waar massas duiwe gelyktydig losgelaat word.Norden Lombard palm feitlik al die plekke in die jaaroud-afdeling in en die volledige uitslae is as volg: Norden Lombard (1, 5, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 18, 16, 17, 18, 20, 23, 24, 27 en 28), Robert Scott (2, 7, 8 en22), Geelbos (3), Drikus Odendaal (4), John Vienings (6, 19, 21 en 18), Ben Steyn (13) en David van der Linde (25 en

26). In hierdie afdeling was die wenspoed 1 288.1399 meter per minuut (77.2 km/h) oor ‘n afstand van ongeveer 447 kilometer.
