Skungpoomery by Ken Campbell
Get ready for glorious nonsense! Skungpoomery is a wonderfully absurd romp through a world where words don’t always mean what they should, policemen wear bow-ties, shorts and sandals, and sausages may or may not contain cats. At the centre of the chaos are Faz, the self-proclaimed genius, and his loyal helper Twoo whose experiments in “Skungpoomery” lead to a joyful celebration of language and chaos.
Skungpoomery is a surreal, witty comedy that celebrates those who see the world from a different angle. Following the misadventures of Constable Nicholas Wibble, his formidable mother, and a host of colourful characters, the play captures the spirit of unbridled creativity that defined Ken Campbell’s unique theatrical world.
Rehearsals this half term have been a journey into imagination exploring wordplay, slapstick, and ensemble comedy. The students have embraced every challenge, from mastering the rhythm of nonsense dialogue to developing bold physical characters. And choreographed silliness.
The result is a playful, high-energy performance that reminds us all how much fun it is to make sense of the senseless Welcome to the world of Skungpoomery and enjoy the mayhem!
