This evening’s performance has been shaped under the musical direction of Ian Chesworth, who previously taught singing to actors at Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK. Many of his former students have gone on to successful careers on the West End and in television and film. Bringing this wealth of experience to KTJ, Ian has been working with our students as though they were professional performers, guiding them to self-reflect, refine their craft, and coach one another in the pursuit of excellence.
Throughout the rehearsal process, students have grown remarkably in both confidence and technical skill. In addition to Ian’s work on journey, performance and interpretation, they have also benefited from high-quality vocal coaching from Madeleine Lawrence, whose expertise has supported them in developing the vocal strength and musical nuance required for Sondheim’s demanding repertoire.
This collaboration of professional insight and dedicated student effort has resulted in the accomplished performances
