City Budget Process Underway! The City’s budget process is well underway as the City Council works to meet the needs of our citizens! As a part of this process, the Council has reaffirmed the City’s mission: “Through excellence in service, the City of Kirksville will provide ethical and responsible local government.” The Council has also adopted a new purpose statement: “Local government is a distinct and essential tier of government consisting of democratically elected Councils having the functions and powers that the State considers necessary to ensure the peace, order and good government of a community.” As always, our vision is to be the best city to the citizens we serve, meeting their needs and expectations both today and tomorrow. The Council has also reaffirmed their belief that in order to achieve our mission, purpose, and vision, we must be committed to these four goals: 1). economic development, 2). quality of life, 3). fiscal responsibility and efficiency in government, and 4). the protection of City-owned assets.
