Hello, and welcome to our Prep school prospectus. See what makes our school so special, the perfect place to spend the years that are ‘Key Stage 2’, or ‘the phase between infant school and secondary school’, or – if we’re calling a spade a spade – the critical time between seven and eleven years old when character is formed.
We wanted you to hear about the school from everyone who makes a difference, so you’ll see the feedback we received from pupils, from staff, from parents and from independent third parties like inspectors, reviewers and visitors. It’s wonderful, but actually not surprising, that people ‘get’ Kingswood House as soon as they walk through the door. You can feel the warmth, the kindness, the encouragement and the safety.
Kingswood House is a happy, ambitious and confident school. We’re committed to inclusivity and diversity – we want pupils from all walks of life, with the brilliant and unique mixtures of talent and difficulty that lie inside us all. We don’t do entry exams; in fact, we’re different in a lot of ways.
So come and have a look, I’d be delighted to show you around. Just be warned that you might fall in love with the school when we walk through that door!
Matthew Bryan, Headmaster Kingswood House School
‘Friendly, nurturing, welcoming. It’s small - both class sizes and number of classes - but that allows it to offer a very personalised experience to pupils, especially those who need extra support. It’s excellent.’
Current Parent
‘“As a school that is proudly mixed-ability, Kingswood House puts huge emphasis on creating a nurturing environment that recognises the individual needs and personal strengths of each pupil’

Independent Schools Inspectorate Report, March 2023
‘Kingswood House set the bar high in delivering an education that truly goes beyond the school gates.’
Current Parent
‘Pupils commented that the small classes meant that teachers had time to concentrate on them as individuals, and that everyone was friendly.’
CReSTeD Report, Autumn 2021
‘Compliments from parents come thick and fast. ‘So supportive.’
‘To have it all in one place is a godsend.’ ‘Unbelievably reassuring, I walk away knowing my child is safe and happy and learning.’
Good Schools Guide, June 2023
‘Throughout the school, pupils’ attitudes to learning are outstanding. They are thoughtful, enthusiastic and highly motivated in their individual work and in collaboration with others.’
Good Schools Guide, June 2023
‘More important is the sport for all philosophy, ensuring that everyone ‘gets a chance to shine [in a match],’ with fixtures for everyone down to D teams (results respectable), while after school practice sessions are open to all.’
Good Schools Guide, June 2023
“The school is safe, lovely and full of kind and generous people that all work very hard to make the children get the very best out of every single day.’
Current Parent
‘I think the pupils here are each in their own lane, all the children here are in their own lane …and they just happily run alongside each other.’
Staff member
‘ “The only school where teachers just spoke to the child and ignored us,” says a visiting parent approvingly.’
Good Schools Guide, June 2023
‘Everyone’s kind and friendly and you get loads of help here.’
Current Pupil
‘Did
the absence of lush facilities and rolling acres matter to parents? Not remotely. The school feels ‘Homely…like an extension of your home,’ says one. ‘I sometimes think that the quirkiness of the building adds to the nurturing of the child.’
