LAKE SINCLAIR market update The June 2019 Lake Sinclair real estate market ( Putnam, Baldwin & Hancock) is slightly behind the 2018 market. At midpoint last year, The Lake Sinclair total volume in sales was 88,013,000, and the total homes sold were 452. Currently in June 2019, the total volume in sales is 72,901,000 with total homes sold 420. Land Sales have INCREASED in 2019 with a total of 90 (4,648,000 in volume) properties sold in comparison to 74 (3,382,000) properties sold at this time in 2018. It’s important to note that Inventory is still very LOW and demand is HIGH. In 2018, average days on market was 165 days, and in 2019 it has decreased to 145 days. List to sales price in 2018 was 93% compared to 94% in 2019. It’s a great time to list! After our precious daughter was taken from us in 1999, we were unable to move forward with our lives, spending many days sitting on the dock and looking toward the area where she’d lost her life. One morning we saw a pair of swans swimming toward one another. When they met, their bodies formed a heart, over the exact location of the accident. Finally, we felt peace and a sense of purpose for her legacy. Her memory will always be honored through Brittney Cares.

BRITTNEYCARES Where a caring heart meets a giving heart.

Shaina (Shay) Fontenoy is a 28year old single mom who is struggling to survive long enough to raise her child. Shay has Stage 4 Metastatic colon cancer that has spread to the lungs and throat. Shay’s story began in early 2018 with a visit to her doctor to inquire about some unusual symptoms. A colonoscopy revealed multiple polyps. Surgery was scheduled for mid-February where the polyps were removed and identified as Stage 2A colon cancer. Hope for a recovery bloomed when her doctor said they had gotten all the cancer during the surgery. At Shay’s first 6-month checkup, she remained cancerfree. However, in February 2019 at her second 6-month checkup, Shay was told that the colon cancer had spread to her lungs and throat. Some of the cancer cells from her colon that had lain dormant since the surgery, had traveled through her bloodstream to develop into masses in both lungs and begin to work on her thyroid gland and right adrenal gland. To date, Shay has been to two different oncologists who delivered the same results. The doctors suggested to her that she begin chemotherapy and radiation, while disclosing that they suspected the chemo would be ineffective due to the advanced progression of the cancer. Shay is currently looking into alternative treatments until her June appointment with the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Newnan. Until then, every appointment continues to drain already strained resources. Every trip, meal and lodging bill in Shay’s future is an expense for which she and her family could never have prepared.

#CANCERSUCKS Brittney Cares has made a donation to help Shay. If you are also moved to help, there is a GoFundMe page set up to help offset all their expenses as her fight continues. In August 2017 at the age of 50 she was diagnosed with cervical cancer (in the form of Small Cell Cervical Cancer - a very rare, very aggressive cancer) which has now metastasized to several places in her body. In April 2019, a bladder infection caused her to become septic, which results in a severe infection spread via the bloodstream. She was in ICU for seven days. Kim has since returned home - on hospice care - where she is surrounded by her family, including her six beloved grandbabies. If and when Kim regains some strength back, she will hopefully continue her immunotherapy treatments. In the meantime, her family has organized a Medical Benefit Raffle in hopes of raising money for her extensive medical bills. Her family has a strong belief in faith and are continuing to rely daily on prayers that God will see them through this challenge. We have also made a donation to help Kim. Come see our beautiful antebellum homes and enjoy our two-day Firefly Festival that accompanies this event. Our 200yd pool swim, 7 mile rolling bike course through historic downtown madison, and finally a fast 2 mile run course through local neighborhoods will provide an awesome race for the most competitive or novice participant. Bring the family and make this a “weekend race-cation” because Friday night at the Firefly Festival is all about the kids with face painting, games and much more. On Saturday evening after the race, relax with a concert in the park. This is a perfect night with many local restaurants downtown. Lake Oconee Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is hosting this event to raise money to help send our student athletes and coaches to FCA camp.
