Hoteliers take stock after landmark year MEMBERS of a host of tourism organisations converged on Killarney recently for a major forum and a number of other landmark events in the industry were celebrated also. Killarney Chamber of Tourism & Commerce, Skål Republic of Ireland and the Kerry Branch of the Irish Hotels Federation joined forces to create “Let’s Talk Tourism – The National Tourism Forum”. Chaired by RTÉ’s Miriam O’Callaghan, it unfolded in the five-star Muckross Park Hotel. Also during the weekend, Skål Republic of Ireland president Sean O’Driscoll presents John Concannon with the Skål Leader in Tourism Award for his work on the 1916 Commemoration Project throughout Ireland at the organisation’s annual dinner in The Brehon Hotel. Skål is a professional organisation of tourism leaders around the world. A business networking dinner in The Brehon featured former Kerry footballers Daragh, Tomas and Marc O Se as after-dinner speakers. The following night, the Kerry president of the Irish Hotels Federation Terence Mulcahy hosted the annual Kerry IHF Christmas ball at Muckross Park Hotel.
