Round Of Applause For David And Rotary Youth Leadership Participants
Question I’ve been invited to take part in the JobPath programme. What can I expect from the programme? Can I keep my social welfare payment? Answer JobPath is a new employment activation programme that is intended to help jobseekers find and retain full-time employment. The Department of Social Protection selects clients for JobPath on a random basis. You cannot apply to go on JobPath. Supports from JobPath are aimed at people who are long-term unemployed and people who are newly unemployed but who may need intensive support to find work. If you are selected for JobPath you will be referred to a JobPath company. There are two companies - Seetec and Turas Nua. You will be assigned to a personal adviser who will assess your skills, work experience and work goals. The adviser will draw up a Personal Progression Plan with you which will include a series of activities and actions designed to help you get a job. These might include work experience, training and other relevant supports. You will be given career advice and helped with CV and interview preparation. You can also get support and advice about starting your own business.
John O'Sullivan (President of Rotary Club), David Leen (winner of the Killarney Rotary Youth Leadership competition), Sheila Kingston and Tom Leslie, middle, Paul Brosnan, Grainne Dineen, Nicole Riordan, Shole Koschan, Chelsea Coffey, Aldine Murphy, Sarah Finnan, Sadhbh Ni Chathasaigh and Sean Houlihan, Precious Akilapa, Pierce O'Meara, Shane O'Sullivan, Donagh O'Leary and Page Fitzpatrick, Back, Ciara Irwin Foley, Angela O'Connor, Katie O'Connell, Grace O'Neill, Con Keane and Roisin Moore.
You keep your jobseeker's payment while on JobPath. Generally the programme lasts for a year (52 weeks). If you find a job the Jobpath company will continue to work with you while you are in employment for up to a year. It will give particular support during the first few weeks of employment. Depending on local arrangements, while you are on JobPath you may sign on for your jobseeker's payment less often than at present, or in some situations you may not have to sign on at all.

HIS impressive leadership skills earned David Leen a coveted Rotary Ireland award this week. David, a student at the Intermediate School Killorglin, won the Killarney Rotary Club Youth Leadership prize on Wednesday. He was among some of Kerry’s brightest and best second-level students who were rewarded for their participation in the prestigious competition. Youngsters from Killarney schools St Brigid’s Presentation Secondary School, Killarney Community College and St Brendan’s College along with Milltown Presentation Secondary School and the Intermediate School Killorglin were out in force at the Killarney Rotary Club lunch at The
Malton where they were presented with certificates by Killarney Rotary President John O’Sullivan. The students shone at the Killarney interviews for the Rotary Ireland Youth Leadership competition, organised at local level in early November by Tom Leslie and Conor Griffin of Killarney Rotary Club. “The interviews took place in The Malton Hotel over three nights in November,” said Tom Leslie. “It is a great initiative and in the past we have had three local winners representing Kerry at national level.” Killarney Rotary President John O’Sullivan congratulated all involved in the 32-county competition.

The good news is that Lynes of Killarney offer you the opportunity to do just that. Why not call into the shop or give the team a call as to how you can enjoy the benefits of its school uniform saving scheme? The cost of going back to school can seem a little daunting the closer you get to September so now is the ideal time to make plans. “Many families have benefited by joining our savings club as it is a yearround service,” according to the team. “We stock all school uniforms, primary and secondary.”
