NE wedding led to another for Ashley Casey and Barry FitzGerald. Ashley, from Cromane, and Barry, from Ballyhahill, co Limerick, met at a mutual friend’s wedding on New Year’s Eve 2010. Barry surprised Ashley by popping the question at Torc in August 2015. “Barry had told me he wanted to check out the steps on Cardiac Hill in advance of Killarney Adventure Race in October,” said Ashley. “Under protest, I went and climbed the first two sets of steps. When we got to the first viewpoint I turned around and Barry was down on one knee. It was well timed in advance of my 30th birthday the following week.” They were wed recently in St Michael’s Church, Killorglin, by Reverend Jim Stephens and held their reception in the Heights Hotel, Killarney. As the groom is a keen racing cyclist, his fellow cyclists formed a guard of honour, complete with bicycles, as the newlyweds emerged from the church. Both sets of parents, Jane and Patrick Casey and Tina and Noel FitzGerald helped the couple plan the perfect big day.

Lending their support as bridesmaids were Michelle O'Reilly, Siobhain Colborne and Kate O'Connell, while the groomsmen were James FitzGerald (Barry’s brother), Paudie Sheehan and Pa Ahern. Ava Colborne and Noah O’Connell were flower girl and pageboy respectively. “Our wedding day was everything we had hoped for and more!” said Ashley. The bride looked stunning in a Maggie Sottero gown sourced in Memories Bridal Boutique in Cork. Photographer Ann McNamee of Paper Hearts and videographer Ian Armstrong, StoryBegins captured the big day on camera. Their honeymoon took the Listowel-based newlyweds to the Seychelles and Dubai for 10 nights. Ashley is global marketing executive with PulseLearning, Kerry Technology Park, Tralee, and Barry is production supervisor in Profile Developments, Glin, Co Limerick. • If you would like your big day featured in Killarney Advertiser Wedding of the Week contact Eve Kelliher on 064-6632215 or newsdesk@killarneyadvertiser.ie
