SENIORS The seniors opened their Div 3 County League campaign against Na Gael in Tralee on Sunday. Na Gael raced into an early two point lead before Tadgh O’ Shea settled Fossa’s nerves with a point from play. Great credit must go to Fintan Coffey who got married on Saturday, yet lined out at full forward on Sunday and gave an absolutely brilliant display, this showed incredible commitment and should be acknowledged. Fintan kicked a fantastic point from play and in the 10th minute gave a great pass to the in-rushing Donald O’ Sullivan who finished deftly to the net to give Fossa a commanding lead. Matt Rennie and Mark Dennehy gave us a great platform at midfield where they worked hard and won a lot of ball throughout the entire game. Further points from Fintan Coffey, Tadgh O’ Shea and a great effort from Dan Keeffe left Fossa in the lead at half time, 1-07 to 0-05. Playing against a very strong wind in the second half, Fossa had to really up the work rate, which they did. Mark Dennehy thundered forward to kick an excellent point after 6 minutes, Na Gael used the wind to full advantage and had us under pressure but our defence worked really hard. In the 16th minute Na Gael struck for a fortuitous goal but Fossa didn’t drop they heads, Dara Rice was causing the Na Gael backs lots of problems with his intelligent runs forward and this paid off when he punched a point to relieve some of the pressure, Mikey O’Shea came on and kicked an excellent point with his left foot to leave Fossa 3 points up with time running out. The Na Gael pressure paid off when they were awarded a penalty in the 27th minute which they scored, this was the last score of the game and it finished, Fossa 1-10, Na Gael 2-07. Next up is Ballymac next Sunday in Fossa at 2pm. MINOR COUNTY LEAGUE DIV. 3 Gaeltacht 3-8, Fossa 1-10 Fossa made the long journey to the Gaeltacht for their second game in the county league. Weather conditions were pretty bad and Fossa played with the aid of a stiff breeze in the first half but found themselves trailing at half time on a score line of 1-6 to 0-06, the six Fossa points coming from the boot of David Clifford. The second half saw a much improved performance from the Fossa side, Anthony O’Keefe, Garry Cronin, Eoin Talbot and Mark Donnellon tightened things up at the back, John Talbot and Oran O’Murchu improved in the middle of the field - in the forwards, there was much better effort. A goal by Liam Buckley and points by Emmett O’Shea and Rory Doyle kept Fossa in the hunt right to the end but Fossa ran out of time and

Gaeltacht kept their unbeaten run going. Next up for Fossa Minors is Glenflesk at home next Saturday.
