Welcome to issue 4 of Kidzootd Magazine - Your ultimate guide to kids fashion, family lifestyle and fun! For those who don’t know us we are a FREE magazine for readers online and in print. This month is particularly special for us as it’s our birthday! The first issue of Kidzootd Magazine was published June 2018 - time certainly does fly by. We’ve loved every minute of our first year and want to thank each and every one of you from around the sphere for all your support.

TRIED AND TESTED
"When can we go back?!" was the question from our children when the Kidzootd team left our first visit to KidZania London. Spanning across 75,000 square feet and located in Westfield London lies an amazing indoor city run by kids, where they can work, earn and play. A children’s event like no other, KidZania is designed to empower and entertain kids. It gives children the chance to challenge themselves and gets them thinking about which career they may like to pursue in the future. Upon arrival the fun begins as you collect your boarding pass from the incredible KidZania airport. After boarding, you enter into a fantastic city where kids can choose from a wide range of activities to earn or spend their own ‘kidZos’ - a special currency that can be used within the KidZania world. Our team of very excited children aged 6-9 years old set off discussing the many opportunities of where to start and without giving too much away, let’s just say by the end of it we had experienced hotel managers, window cleaners, air hostesses, professional drummers and police officers! As parents over looking and joining in some activities, it was such a pleasure to see the kids revel in the opportunity to take on real life job roles whilst having so much fun. Each career activity is developed to teach kids essential life skills including financial literacy, teamwork and independence. There can be short wait times for some activities but with so much excitement the kids didn’t mind at all.

KidZania really is a unique experience. Due to the time it takes to complete an activity, we would say that in one visit 5-6 activities can be completed as there are so many options. The good thing is that’s it’s definitely a place to return without getting bored and annual pass tickets are also available. One of our kids FAVE things was going to the KidZania bank at the end to deposit their KidZos. With their new bank cards which of course they loved, they could check balances at the cashpoint before heading to the treat shop! As tried and tested, our review is this is a 5 star place to try with your young ones. Moreover, there are currently 27 KidZania centres in 21 countries, and KidZania has just announced plans to expand into the US, with the first centre due to open in Frisco, Dallas, Texas later this year, as well as another three cities - New York, Chicago and Los Angeles in 2021

KIDZANIA SUMMER ACTIVITIES STEM Month - June During the whole month of June, KidZania London is championing STEM and how it impacts the world of work, with a series of fun STEM focused activities and workshops. Children will have the opportunity to receive first-hand experience of applying the subjects they learnt in school to real-life jobs in the city, including becoming a Shell Renewable Energy Champion, a budding paramedic or surgeon in the KidZania Hospital and A&E, or learning about animal welfare in the Pet Wellbeing Centre.
WWE SummerSlam - July and August Visit KidZania London for the ultimate WWE experience this summer, to celebrate the WWE SummerSlam in Toronto, Canada on August 11th. With lots to do, kids will explore fun-packed WWE activities including reporting the SummerSlam news at the radio station, creating their own WWE Superstars and bringing their characters to life on stage at the KidZania Theatre.

The idea for Kidz Con started to sprout in my head when I began to realise that trying to shop for your kids while they’re tagging along is quite the struggle. There’s nowhere you can go and get everything done all in onestop and majority of the time kids are getting antsy and aren’t enjoying the experience. As a mother to a 4-yearold I saw first hand how quickly he would get bored on our shopping excursions. So I thought, what better way to change this than to create a shopping experience that everyone in the family can enjoy, but especially the kids! My mother and grandmother are two of the most influential individuals in my life. They raised me and have greatly impacted my life. They were both teachers and also involved in event planning. With the loss of both of them, I wanted to create something that would make them proud and carry out their legacy. I knew an overthe-top experience like Kidz Con that celebrates and cares for children while making them smile would do just that. I’m still learning and growing every single day, but I’m proud of how far Kidz Con has come so far, and I know they would be too. Q2) Kidzcon looks incredible and so much fun for families. Last time you had a laser tag, what are the highlights for this year? We have so many exciting elements planned for this year at Kidz Con and of course we don’t want to spoil too much.. but just to name a few; silent disco, soft play, circus acts, meet + greets, an amazing installation by Fun Box, and our exciting partnership with Care Bears! Q3) As a shopping experience for attendees what will shoppers find at Kidzcon? Shoppers will be able to find a variety of top children’s brands at Kidz Con 2019. A wide range of brands will be offered to ensure that every shopper is able to find something up their alley! Q4) Tell us about the food available this year? We are most excited about all the sweet treats we are bringing in for Kidz Con. Gourmeletas Ice Cream will be back again and we can’t wait! Also at Kidz Con will be The Dirty Cookie,
Happy Ice, Love Swirls Cotton Candy, and much more to satisfy the sweet tooth! Q5) Organising a major event must not be easy. What’s the most challenging thing? The biggest challenge has been getting others to believe in your dream when it hasn’t been done before. People don’t know exactly what to expect when they hear about it for the first time, so it’s really important to me that we help others envision it along with us. Along with this challenge came many other struggles in all areas, such as finance and logistics. Going through this process for the first time came with a lot of unexpected finances and learning how to navigate through the neverending questions that you just don’t think about until you’re in the middle of it all. Q5) Are there any top tips for brands on how to sell their products at events? We strongly encourage brands to go all out and get creative with their booth decor and set-up. When booths are appealing to the eye and have some sort of activity or interactive experience, attendees are drawn to that brand. We were so impressed with some of our amazing brands at Kidz Con 2018 and are SO excited to see what our 2019 brands have planned!

We love the OBEY posters, particularly the use of black, white and stark red colours. It naturally paved the way for this collection.
