Auction Purchase Guidelines Payment 1. All payments shall be by cash, credit card, certified check or personal check made payable to KIDS Center. Credit cards accepted are VISA, Mastercard or AMEX. 2. Full payment must be made for all purchases at the conclusion of the Auction.

3. Cashiers, located in the check-in tent, will accept payment after the auction, unless Purchaser has previously opted to use the Auctionpay quick check out method (below).

Quick Check-In and Check-Out Quick Check saves time by eliminating the need to stop and pay at the Cashier area at the end of the Auction.

1. At registration, swipe your MasterCard, VISA or AMEX card information with the cashier. NO CHARGES will be issued to your card unless you make purchases or donations.

2. Please verify your mailing and email address at registration so we may mail a receipt to you after the Auction.

3. At the end of the evening, simply proceed to Item Pick Up in the tent where you checked in to verify and claim your purchases. If no purchases are made, your card will not be charged, and any voided blank check will be returned to you by mail.

4. Thank you for providing your mobile number which will be used for appreciation communication.

Conditions of Purchase 1. KIDS Center and the Cork & Barrel Wine Event (the “Seller”) reserves the right to refuse admission to, or attendance by, any person at the Auction or related events.

2. The auctioneer is the agent for the Seller.

3. All wine and other items are sold “as is.” Purchasers must rely only on their own inspection and/or opinion; Seller makes no warranties, express or implied.

4. Seller does not warrant or represent, and expressly denies responsibility for, and in no event shall be responsible for, the accuracy or description of wines offered, or the correctness of the catalog, including, but not limited to the origin, rarity, age, genuineness, quality, quantity, or condition.

5. Unless specifically set forth, all auction items expire on July 22, 2018.

Bidding 1. All bids are per item as set forth in the catalog, unless otherwise announced by the auctioneer.

2. Seller may combine or divide any item(s) at their sole discretion.

3. Auctioneer and Seller have the right to reject any bid at any time prior to the fall of the hammer without liability. If the Auctioneer decides that any opening does not correspond with the value of the article offered, the Auctioneer may reject the bid and withdraw the item from sale; and if, having acknowledged an opening bid, the Auctioneer decides that any advance thereafter is insufficient, the auctioneer may reject the advance.

4. No live auction bid shall be valid unless expressly acknowledged by the Auctioneer.

5. The highest Bidder acknowledged during the live or silent auction shall be the Purchaser and therein assumes full risk and responsibility.

6. By raising a bidder paddle or making a silent auction bid, the Bidder warrants that s/ he will pay the full purchase price if successful.

7. The Auctioneer shall have the absolute right to resolve any dispute, reoffer, resell, or withdraw the lot in question. If any dispute arises after the sale, the Seller’s sale records shall be conclusive in all respects.

8. All items offered for sale may be subject to a minimum price below which such lot will not be sold. That minimum price may be publicly stated or confidential.

9. Silent auction bid closing times will be posted. At close, the highest acknowledged Bidder shall be deemed to have purchased the item.

Item Pick Up and Shipping 1. Purchases must be picked up by the purchaser prior to leaving the venue at the conclusion of the Auction. Buyers will receive a receipt listing their purchases and after reviewing and approving the receipt, they will pick up their items.

2. Extremely large purchases or heavy items may be scheduled for pick-up or delivery by calling KIDS Center at 541-383-5958.

3. Any item(s) not removed from the venue by the above time will be held for three (3) weeks at KIDS Center, 1375 NW Kingston Ave, Bend, OR 97703. KIDS Center will make an attempt to contact the winning bidder. If the Bidder fails to retrieve the item(s) in question by the end of the three-week period, KIDS Center will assume the Bidder has abandoned the property and relinquished it to KIDS Center, treat the Bidder’s payment as a straight donation to KIDS Center and seek to make other use of the item(s) that the Bidder has abandoned.

4. Purchaser shall incur all shipping and insurance costs for items not picked up at the conclusion of the Auction.

5. Out-of-state Bidders shall be familiar with the laws of their locality since shipping regulations, especially those pertaining to beverages of alcoholic content, vary from state to state.

6. In the event of loss or damage to any item incurred in the course of its handling or storage during the auction event and before possession is taken by the Buyer, the Buyer will be compensated as follows: 1) if the item has not been paid for, the exact amount of the bid placed will be subtracted from the Buyer’s purchases; or 2) if the item has been paid for, the Buyer will receive a refund of that bid amount.

Making miracles happen every day for children and families

96.5% of caregivers agree that KIDS Center provided them with resources to support their children.

95% of MDT members believe that KIDS Center provides work on [child abuse] cases.

If caregivers knew anyone else dealing with a situation like the one their family faced, 95.7% would tell people about KIDS Center.

A mother recently told us, “Miracles happen at KIDS Center.” And it’s true. In 2016, more than 2,666 children, youth, and families in Central Oregon received vital services from KIDS Center, such as our child abuse assessments, family support, therapy services, and prevention and education trainings.

Throughout this annual report, witness these miracles and the tremendous impact that KIDS Center services, from providing our Bridges to Healing Support Groups to achieving our tipping point goal of training over 5% of the population in the Darkness to Light’s: Stewards of Children® program.

These miracles happen in part because children and families who come to KIDS Center tell us what they need—and we listen. Also, since 2011, we’ve participated in the National Outcome Measurement System (OMS)* project which helps child abuse intervention centers (CAICs), like KIDS Center, evaluate their programs to increase the quality of services provided to children and families and to received through this process, we’ve learned a lot from families. their children and family members, key community partners are supported by our collaborative navigate the impacts of abuse on their families. and resources for those who experience trauma. Thank you to our donors, community partners, support, and advocacy. Because of you, no child is ever turned away from KIDS Center, and every courageous family who calls us for help receives immediate support. And we will continue to be here, facilitating miracles, until child abuse is eliminated.

All KIDS Center services are provided at no cost to children and families.

In partnership with local law enforcement, DHS-Child Welfare, Saving Grace, and the District children and their caregivers have participated in this new program. (more than 10,000 adults) in our families, schools, and youth-serving organizations with Darkness to Light: Stewards of Children® child sexual abuse prevention program. for “Karly’s Law,” which was passed by the Oregon State Legislature in 2007. The law mandates that within 48 hours.

KIDS Center raises over 60% of its $2.5 MM annual operating budget from local individuals, corporate support, and private foundations. 25% of this is raised at Cork & Barrel.

KIDS Center

Investments in Events has grown by 11% over the last four years, realizing an increase by 18% in additional revenue.

Bridges to Healing was been made possible by the generosity of grants from multiple foundations and is being sustained by revenue from Cork & Barrel.

To meet the growing need, therapy services are expected to expand in 2017 & 2018.

Over the last four years, provided support for more than 2,300 families.

A Taste of the Pacific NW Walla Walla

WINE & FOOD

Loosely translated as the land of “many waters” from indigenous peoples’ language, Walla Walla, Washington is a bucolic, agricultural hamlet nestled against the foothills of the Blue Mountains. More than 100 wineries call Walla Walla home – with sweeping wheat fields, award-winning wines, and almost 3000 acres under vineyard production, the Walla Walla region buzzes with wine activity.

Willamette Valley The Willamette Valley, encompassing a large swath of acreage from Portland and all the way to Eugene, naturally bound by the mighty Columbia River on the north and the Calapooya Mountains to the south, is Oregon’s largest, recognizable winegrape growing region. Synonymous with “quality”, the Willamette Valley contains almost 20,000 acres of vineyards and a little over 70% of the state’s total vineyard production. Considered a “cool climate” growing region, the Willamette Valley benefits from an international reputation as a top-notch producer of Pinot Noir.

Columbia Gorge Columbia Gorge wine country straddles both sides of the Columbia River and in both Washington state and Oregon.

Affectionately referred to as “A World of Wine in 40 Miles” due to its unique topography and climate changes, the Columbia Gorge is a wildly diverse wine region that contains a combination of climates, soils, elevation, and geology. Over 30 wineries are found in the Columbia Gorge area and just as many grape varietals are grown there.

A love for wine has been in owner/ winemaker Dennis Murphy’s family since before he was born. His ancestors viewed wine as simply an essential part of daily life. Sanitella, Murphy’s great grandmother, knew each family in her small Italian neighborhood by their homemade wine.

Murphy hopes to honor the tradition his family has had with wine for over a century with Caprio Cellars. Caprio’s estate vineyards in the heart of Walla Walla, Washington, provide premium quality fruit to produce Bordeaux-style red wines. The Eleanor estate vineyard, planted in 2006, is named in honor of Murphy’s grandmother.

The 22-acre hillside vineyard, Octave, is co-owned by Murphy with several of Walla Walla’s best winemakers.

Doubleback

For former NFL Quarterback Drew Bledsoe, owning a winery has been a longtime aspiration that allows him to combine his passion for fine wine and love of the Walla Walla Valley, his home stomping grounds. Drew returned in 2007 to plant his original estate vineyard, McQueen. The following year, Drew launched Doubleback, an estate-focused winery with the goal to produce world-class Cabernet Sauvignon.

To make this dream a reality, Drew collaborated with childhood friend, Chris Figgins of Leonetti Cellar, who trained current winemaker, Josh McDaniels. McDaniels was born and raised in Walla Walla and at an early age fell in love with the wine industry.

He is the lead winemaker and general manager for Doubleback today.

Double Canyon Vineyard The Double Canyon vineyard site is nestled in the heart of the Horse Heaven Hills AVA, an expansive grape growing region in southeastern Washington. Characterized by a dry, desert landscape, persistent winds, and undulating elevation, there are pockets of different microclimates scattered throughout the region.

Double Canyon Vineyard vines are managed by the man who grew up across the street from the vineyard, who planted the vines himself, all by hand.

New winemaker Kate Michaud comes to Double Canyon Winery with 14 years of wine experience under her belt, critical praise for the wines she makes, and global experiences that have allowed her to fine-tune the many nuances of winemaking.

Dumas Station Wines

“Just two guys from Walla Walla, making wine at an old train station, one barrel at a time.” —Jay DeWitt and Doug Harvey Dumas Station Wines was started in 2003 by two Walla Walla natives, Jay DeWitt and Doug Harvey, after a few years of making wine in a garage. Winemaker Jay DeWitt calls himself a “recovering wheat farmer,” while his partner Doug Harvey is a “recovering attorney.”

Dumas Station isn’t known as a fancy winery with lots of high-tech equipment; Jay and Doug rely on friends and family for help with the harvest. They spend the rest of the year racking the wine, one oak barrel at a time. Doug’s daughter Ali, the marketing director, is here to pour with her husband Ryan, who is studying to be their new winemaker.

Gramercy Cellars

WINE & FOOD

Gramercy Cellars was founded in 2005 by Master Sommelier Greg Harrington and his wife, Pam, to make Rhône- and Bordeaux-based wines in Washington State. Gramercy’s philosophy is simple: to develop or partner with the best vineyards; harvest ripe, not overripe, grapes; intervene minimally in the winemaking process; and use as little new oak as possible.

Co-winemaker and Gramercy Cellars partner, Brandon Moss, grew up in the Walla Walla Valley on a small family farm and made his way to Oregon State University with an eye on becoming a winemaker. Brandon made his way back to Walla Walla to work in the appellation he knew so well, and where new and exciting wines were being produced.

Seven Hills Winery

Located in the heart of Walla Walla, Seven Hills Winery is one of the region’s oldest and most respected wineries. As a fourth-generation farmer who worked alongside his father to plant the famed Seven Hills Vineyard, founder and winemaker, Casey McClellan, played an important role in the viticultural history of the Walla Walla Valley appellation.

Seven Hills has built relationships with Washington’s finest winegrowers and sources fruit from the same coveted old-vine blocks and rows year after year.

Using these storied grapes, Seven Hills Winery has developed a style known for balancing structure and grace. With restrained oak, bright acidity and pure varietal flavors, these terroir-inspired wines are recognized as some of the finest coming out of the Northwest.

Va Piano Vineyards Chi Va Piano Va Sano e Va Lontano. This old Italian proverb means “He who goes slowly, goes safely and goes far.” This is Justin Wylie’s philosophy with Va Piano Vineyards. A fourth-generation Walla Wallan, Justin started making wine in his garage, learning from local winemakers, growers, and aficionados.

Va Piano wines display intense flavors, fine tannin structure, and intense aromas: quintessential Washington State characteristics. Most grapes used by Va Piano Vineyards are estate grown, and Justin continues to source grapes from carefully chosen vineyards across the region, as fruit from different soil profiles creates more complex wines. As Wylie says, “What most winemakers don’t want you to know is that 80% of what’s in the bottles starts in the vineyard, and the other 20% is not screwing it up!”

Woodward Canyon Winery ala Wala Woodward Canyon Winery, named for the canyon that owner Rick Small’s family farmed and where the Estate Vineyard is now located, was established in 1981 in Lowden, Washington. Woodward Canyon was the second winery in the Walla Walla Valley. Rick is essentially a self-taught winemaker, whose approach to winemaking is that of artisan, and he believes that the key to even higher quality lies in the vineyard.

With the employment of Kevin Mott as winemaker in 2003, the Smalls continue to be involved in the day-to-day operations of the winery. In 2010, their children, Jordan Dunn-Small and Sager Small, joined in the ownership of the winery and serve on the board of directors.

Adelsheim Vineyard was founded with an optimistic spirit and a lofty dream: to create world class wines in an undiscovered wine region, the Chehalem Mountains of Oregon.

At our core is a desire to honor and be good stewards of our abundant land.

This commitment, nearly 50 years strong, is reflected in our certified sustainable vineyards and wines.

Winemaker Dave Paige joined Adelsheim in 2002. He and founder David Adelsheim have a shared belief that restrained winemaking methods lead to greater complexity and balance. The two Chehalem Mountains wines showcased at Cork & Barrel are intended to be a true discovery of what qualities would emerge by blending fruit from several vineyard sites with different soils at different elevations within the Chehalem Mountains AVA.

Angela Estate Vineyards

Angela Estate is a small family winery in Oregon with an international pedigree. The winery is a collaboration between second-generation South African winery owners Antony and Angela Beck and winemaker Ken Wright. Angela Estate specializes in producing single-vineyard, estate Pinot Noirs from the Yamhill-Carlton AVA in the Willamette Valley. Beck feels that Oregon is the best place in the US to produce world-class Pinot Noir. He named the winery after his wife and partner of more than 20 years, Angela.

Angela Estate Vineyard totals 34 acres of Pinot Noir in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. It was planted in consistent soil depths that meet ancient marine sediments, a key to the vineyard’s success in producing exceptional fruit. Angela Estate was listed as one of “eight new names to know” in Oregon

by Wine Spectator in 2015.

Archery Summit Winery Traditional winemaking techniques as well as Pinot-centric technological innovations are embraced at Archery Summit, housed in bucolic Oregon wine country just outside of Dundee. Hand-farming and harvesting are among the painstaking efforts taken by the winery, which also implements organic farming practices, including a biodynamic approach at the Renegade Ridge Estate vineyard.

Archery Summit boasts an accomplished team of Pinot Noir experts, led by winemaker and general manager, Chris Mazepink. Having worked exclusively with Oregon Pinot Noir over the years, Chris came to Archery Summit in 2013, anxious to expand its own world-renowned wine program.

L’Angolo Estate

Situated on a quiet road in the famed Dundee Hills AVA, L’Angolo Estate is a family-owned and operated boutique winery that produces estate-grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Owners Hollings and Lou Renton planted the twenty-four-acre vineyard with their son Chase, who is the winemaker and general manager of the estate. From its organic farming practices and traditional winemaking methods, to the clean, modern design of its tasting room, the winery’s goal is to offer an experience of effortless, natural beauty. Chase originally learned to make wine in Italy, and followed his training there with harvests in Burgundy, California, and the Willamette Valley. Inspired by the elegance and restraint of great Old World wines, he applies meticulous craft to reveal the focus and finesse of the estate vineyard.

Founder Jim Bernau began planting in 1983. His passion was to make Pinot Noir that would be a classic, elegant representation of the Willamette Valley growing region. In the beginning, he hand-watered the vines with 17 lengths of 75-foot garden hose! Willamette Valley Vineyards has collaboratively grown its estate vineyards through partnerships like the mergers with Oregon wine industry pioneer Bill Fuller of Tualatin Vineyards (established in 1973), the O’Briens of Elton Vineyard (established in 1983) and the Loeza Vineyard (planted in 2015). Assistant Winemaker Gabi Prefontaine, a Quebec native with a master’s in Viticulture and Enology from Burgundy University in Dijon, has global winemaking experiences that span from Tasmania to France.

Columbia Gorge

Started in 2009, AniChe Cellars has become a bastion of artisan wines in the bucolic Columbia River Gorge region of Washington State. The wines are beholden to traditions in European-style blends while forging new pathways for intrepid wine consumers. An all-female wine-making team meticulously crafts wines with little manipulation, knowing that the true divinity in wine is born in the humility of the vineyard. At AniChe Cellars, care is taken to preserve the nature of vintage and character of terroir with little concern for the rapacious pursuit of scores. Altogether, their wines represent the grace and awe of art and nature as we can best understand it, and we endeavor to partner with palates interested in the pursuit of beauty in small pleasures.

Maryhill Winery Maryhill is perched on the Washington side of the Columbia River, against the stunning backdrop of Mt. Hood. For owners, Craig and Vicki Leuthold, winemaking isn’t about lifted noses or highbrow personalities; it is about sourcing the best grapes and treating them with passion, patience, and balance. Winemaker Richard Batchelor is acclaimed for his extensive knowledge of viticulture and passion for making amazing wines full of intense flavors and complexity. He joined the team in 2009 and is responsible for directing all production activities at the winery including winemaking, bottling, vineyard and grower relations, and harvest coordination. Batchelor holds a postgraduate degree in Viticulture and Enology from his homeland in New Zealand and was awarded 2013 Winemaker of the Year by Indy International Wine Competition.

Memaloose/Idiot’s Grace

Memaloose and Idiot’s Grace are the production of a small, family-owned estate winery in the Columbia Gorge.

Their plots—established in 2003 and overlooking the river from both the Oregon and Washington sides—are farmed organically with imagination and humility.

The wines, wild-fermented and unposturing, seek originality from this dramatic growing region. Memaloose reds, whites, and rosés take their inspiration from the Rhone, while the array of Idiot’s Grace offerings reflects restless work to match grape to place.

Phelps Creek Vineyards

Robert (Bob) Morus, founder of Phelps Creek Vineyards, moved to Hood River in 1989 with the expressed goal of raising wine grapes and kids. With a heart full of passion and an extremely helpful wine growing community, Bob’s dream became a reality. Today, the family-run estate vineyards consist of 32 acres, specializing in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

Phelps Creek’s Director of Winemaking, Alexandrine Roy, has been with Phelps Creek ever since visiting the Columbia Gorge in 2007. Her passion for winemaking matches and pairs with Bob’s field employees’ devotion to growing the finest Pinot Noir in the Columbia Gorge. Since 2007, Phelps Creek has enjoyed annual reviews by Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, with glowing commentary on its transoceanic experiment.

Crux Fermentation Project

We’re Crux Fermentation Project—housed in a former AAMCO Transmission Plant and inspired by our location right in the heart of Bend, Oregon. Brewer-owned and operated, Crux is built for nontraditional brewing methods like decoction mashing, open fermentation and barrel aging, and for leveraging the limitless possibilities that wild yeast strains and experimental hops present.

Founder and master brewer, Larry Sidor, puts his 40-plus years of experience in the industry to work every day, procuring only the best ingredients in his pursuit of the next great beer.

Chef Steve Helt began cooking professionally at the age of 16. Armed with a Hotel Restaurant Institution Management degree from Michigan State University, he added many experiences to his résumé, including managing Houston’s and J. Alexander’s Restaurants all across the country. He ended his corporate career in 2004 to open his own restaurant in Bend—Zydeco Kitchen & Cocktails.

Zydeco is a “from scratch” kitchen, focusing on healthy, local ingredients, and influenced by flavor profiles from the South. Together with his wife, Cheri, Chef Steve Helt opened Bistro 28 which provides another wonderful, local dining opportunity.

Chef John Eisenhart

Nel Centro, Portland John Eisenhart enrolled in San Francisco’s California Culinary Academy and then graduated to the fabled kitchens of San Francisco’s Aqua and Masa’s, eventually moving to New York to work at La Grenouille.

Having gained a reputation of his own, John earned the coveted position of Sous Chef at Babbo and the chance to study at the clogs of Mario Batali.

It was Batali who sent John on a yearlong culinary tour through Italy, where he furthered his culinary training in Lucca, Venice, and Alba. More importantly, John discovered that the slower pace of life in Italy was in his blood, and he could no longer live in New York. Now, with a strong resume and reputation, John chose Portland for his next home, where he was drawn by the people, the pace and the fresh, local produce of Oregon.

John served as Executive Chef at Pazzo in 2003 and transferred his talents to Nel Centro in 2015 for esteemed chef and restaurateur David Machado.

George’s passion for food has followed him throughout his life. From his first taste as a restaurateur at Redmond’s old 86 Corral, and days spent sharpening his skills at the Culinary Institute of America, to achieving stature as Executive Chef at Portland’s esteemed Heathman Hotel, George simply loves to cook.

George and his wife, Barbara, are heartfelt supporters of their Central Oregon community and are thrilled to support KIDS Center through Cork & Barrel. They are working in tandem with Chef John Eisenhart of Nel Centro restaurant in Portland to execute the Grand Cru dinner at Cork & Barrel.

Cayuse Vineyards 6-Year Vertical of Bionic Frog Syrah

This wine lot represents the remarkable opportunity to immediately establish a collection of six, consecutive years of some of the most highly rated wines from Washington state.

Cayuse, founded by France native, Christophe Baron, who deftly turned a field of stones into Cayuse Vineyards in the Walla Walla AVA, is considered one of the toughest wine mailing lists in the nation to crack.

We are incredibly pleased to be able to offer this vertical of wines, ranging from 2005 to 2010. All Cayuse Bionic Frog Syrah wines in the series obtained a minimum of 95 points by major wine publications - the 2010 achieved a 100-point score by Robert Parker of the Wine Advocate; the 2006 vintage, a 99-point score by Parker. The 2008 achieved 100 points by Wine Enthusiast.
