SOUTHERN OREGON WINE

WELCOME

WINE FOOD

What would you give to fund the future of a child...

Abacela Twenty-five years ago, when Abacela was founded by Hilda and Earl Jones, there were only 13 wineries in Southern Oregon and 92 in the state. The complex topography and multiple mesoclimates enabled successful site matching of numerous other grape varieties, many of which were the first grown, produced, and/or bottled in either America, the Pacific Northwest, or Oregon. Earl, aka “Papa Tempranillo”, a career bio-medical scientist, became an Oregon winegrower 25 years ago believing that it was possible to produce fine world-class Tempranillo wine in America... a task that had never been achieved. What do you love about being a Southern Oregon wine producer? Experimentation; the region’s climate and topographies allows one to grow many varieties that ripen perfectly.

FUN WAYS TO GIVE

Do you remember the first wine that you tasted? I had with dinner in 1963 at Commanders Palace in New Orleans and had Pouilly-Fuissé, 1961 vintage. If you could be anything besides a winemaker, what would you be? I would return to the university and continue immunology research.

Apricity Vineyard Named for the warmth of the sun, Apricity Vineyard is a boutique, countryside vineyard, planted in 2014 on what was then a horse pasture and hay fields. Located in the northwest region of the Applegate Valley appellation, the vineyard enjoys the benefits of a protected climate and the last warmth of the sun as it sets in the valley. “It’s all about wine and grapes for us, but not just any wine and grapes. Our passion is wine from grapes we know were grown naturally, managed responsibly, and minimally crafted.” - Laloni Cook, Owner If you could be anything besides a winemaker, what would you be? I would most definitely be a wedding or events planner. What is your favorite beer after a long day during harvest? I have found in the afternoon following a long day that I still prefer a glass of wine.

10

What do you love about being a Southern Oregon wine producer? We love having the opportunity to give back biologically produced wine from only estate grown fruit and being stewards of our land within this beautiful part of Oregon that we all share.

Augustino Estate

“Augustino is my given name - my father’s last name. I grew up in a large Italian family and winemaking has always been a family hobby and now, our livelihood!” - Reggie Boltz

FOOD

Do you remember the first wine that you tasted? My first wine was my Italian great grandfather’s basement red and after that learned to enjoy Bridgeview’s Blue Moon Riesling and Cab-Merlot.

WINE

Reggie Boltz and Debbie Spencer produce all estate grown wines. They grew grapes for others for many years and started their own label in 2011. The Estate farms 115 acres of grapes between two ranches, one in the Illinois Valley (home of our treehouse tasting room in O’Brien, Oregon) and the other in the Applegate Valley (home of the Big Red barn tasting room).

What is your favorite beer after a long day during harvest? My favorite “beer” after a hard harvest is a pineapple hard cider.

Rob Folin has consistently produced standout wines with depth, character, and elegance since 2005. In 2002, Folin took an internship at Domaine Serene winery in Dayton, Oregon. His strong work ethic, forklift driving skills, and innate ability to help, earned him a permanent position within the company. Rob moved his way through the ranks earning himself the title of Cellar Master.

What is your favorite beer after a long day during harvest? I enjoy anything from Caldera. Do you remember the first wine that you tasted? Some sort of Italian red. I was on a train leaving Venice and didn’t have a cork screw, so I pushed the cork in and sprayed wine all over the train.

THANK YOU

If you could be anything besides a winemaker, what would you be? I would be a welder or woodworker.

Aubert Sugar Shack Chardonnay Napa Valley 2013 Aubert Sugar Shack Chardonnay Napa Valley 2014 Aubert Sugar Shack Chardonnay Napa Valley 2015 Aubert Sugar Shack Chardonnay Napa Valley 2016

FOOD

LUCKY is the best word to describe the person who is on the receiving end of these Aubert wines. This four-year vertical of Aubert “Sugar Shack” Chardonnay will make your taste buds go wild for Napa Valley Chardonnay. The Wine Spectator magazine refers to owner/winemaker Mark Aubert as a “grand master” of wine production, and the scores on this vertical of Chardonnay are no surprise: 98 points for the 2013 vintage and 97 for both the 2014 and 2015 from Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate. The 2016 Aubert Sugar Shack Chardonnay was awarded a whopping 98-100 points from the same publication. WOW!!! All wines from Aubert are limited in production and therefore subject to availability to just a few select restaurants and consumers who are fortunate to be on the coveted Mailing List.

Buyer’s Choice...don’t miss out on these fantastic selections!
