WHAT FASHION MEANS TO ME? Fashion is how I truly introduce and represent myself to others without saying a word. It’s the way I express myself and my feelings to others or how I want others to understand and get to know me. Fashion means Comfortable, Fun, Real, Confident and Inspiration. I always love picking my own clothes and try all the different kinds of clothes. I find passion in fashion, when I wear something that I think fits and suits me, it makes me happy, it give me confidence, and I always have fun trying them. It provides me with an outlet that I can constantly change and improve. It's and always so much fun to look back see how I used to style myself and how I style myself now. I love to see fashion in different stages, always so much fun looking back. Overall, fashion really do presents how I feel that day and how I want people to see me. AMERICA’S GOT

NOAH EPPS By Michelle Elizabeth Photographers: Trae Patton (NBC Pics) & Rena Durham (@renadurham)

“So, if you want to be on that show, my advice would be never to give up and keep trying.” And Noah Epps definitely has talent! This 13 year old, 8th grader from Ashburn, Virginia is an accomplished dancer, model, and actor. He’s most well-known for his audition on America’s Got Talent, Season 15, episode 1504. That performance went viral, gaining him tons of new fans. Noah says, “The experience was terrific. I love being on stage, and the energy I felt from the audience was unreal. Also, I learned a lot about show business in the reality TV space.” He was 11 at the time of the audition and 12 by the time it aired. Noah says, “ I auditioned three times for America's Got Talent. First, I auditioned in New York. They said that I should audition again for other seasons, so I auditioned in Charlotte the following year. I sent in an audition recording for the third time. So, if you want to be on that show, my advice would be never to give up and keep trying.”

Noah’s viral performance starts with a quote from Pinocchio followed by eerie hypnotic carnival sounds while he dances like a marionette. Noah’s precision is so flawless that he truly looks like a puppet on strings. Infusing the marionette style with a robotic flavor, this magical mystical robot puppet character also glides across the stage so smoothly one can’t help but be reminded of the”Smooth Criminal” himself- Michael Jackson. The creepy yet cool Robot Puppet really takes on a life of its own as the music suddenly changes to dubstep banger “Exterminate” by Excision. Now Epps flips his game - literally! He contorts his body into terrifying yet beautiful shapes as the story continues. The entire performance was a true work of art. Interacting with the celebrity judges can be a bit intimidating, but Noah wasn’t too scared. He says, “The judges were really nice! I was a little worried about what Simon would think of my audition initially, but it all worked out well. Meeting Terry Crews and Heidi was fantastic too!” Noah’s worry was for nothing, when show creator and judge, Simon Cowell, gave his review saying, “You’ve got fire in your eyes! That determination! I love that!” KidFashMagazine.com/October2021 9

Later on in the AGT season, Epps performed another amazingly creative dance routine set to “B2U” by Boombox Cartel. The performance was inspired by scary movies that send chills down your spine, yet at the same time are artistically intriguing. The massive set had a creepy arcade vibe and the special effects were absolutely breathtaking. Noah’s special brand of dance moves totally captured the whole “trapped in a video game” theme. When creating these elaborate characters, costumes, and dance routines, Noah draws inspiration from old halloween costumes, movies and tv shows. He says, “I try to think how these characters would move and I have to come up with a routine based on that. Dancing as these characters lets me express myself in a way I couldn't do in real life. It makes me feel like a super cool character with superpowers.” When coming up with a routine, Epps works with his choreographer for months. He explains, “He doesn't know many of my street styles, so he usually leaves a section of the routine open for me to freestyle or develop my choreography. So, it's a collaboration.”

Noah has been dancing since he was 7 years old and is trained in ballet, lyrical, contemporary and hip-hop as well as street styles like bruk up, flexing, animation, and bone breaking. He trains for about 15-20 hours a week. In preparation for America’s Got Talent he trained for about 25 or more hours per week. Recently, he started taking acting classes and auditioning more as an actor, so his dance training has been cut back a little.

To stay healthy enough to keep up the rigorous physical demands of dance, you’d think that Noah might follow a very specific diet or nutrition plan, right? Wrong. He jokes, “I am on the teenager diet, which consists of whatever I can get my hands on, I will eat! Just staying active with dance keeps me in pretty good shape. I hope to start lifting weights soon.”

“He doesn't know many of my street styles, so he usually leaves a section of the routine open for me to freestyle or develop my choreography.” 10 KidFashMagazine.com/October2021

Noah had been to Hollywood and LA. previously to perform at the World of Dance World Championships, but found It to be a totally different experience when he went back for AGT. He says, “It was very cool to see how the production team works behind the scenes. The best experience was meeting everyone from the show. Of course meeting the judges was cool, but it was great to know the other contestants. I hope we can all connect again in the future!” The most frustrating aspect of the whole experience was dealing with all the changes that had to be made due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Epps explains, “I would not change any of the precautions put in place, but I feel that the experience would have been different if we were able to have the live audience throughout the show. On the bright side, I think that I was able to get to know the other contestants since we were all going through it together.” Since being on the show Noah’s life has changed a bit. His videos went viral and many new doors have opened for him. He explains, “I planned to participate in many events, but due to COVID, my family decided it would be safer not to. I'm a little shy, so life after the show has been somewhat weird. Sometimes when I go out, I get noticed by strangers because my audition video went viral”. For Noah’s next career moves, he says, “It would be cool to book a dance, acting job. If that happens, great! If not, that's fine too. I'm not taking life too seriously. I'm just doing things I love, like dancing and acting, hanging with friends, and doing teenage things. But you never know, maybe one day you will see me on AGT-France. You never know. Stay tuned!”

“It was very cool to see how the production team works behind the scenes.”.

“This started off as a simple idea to transform kids into red carpet royalty but has now become a message-driven platform.” A photoshoot with Tricia Messeroux, CEO of the TMezz Creative Group, is unlike any experience you’ve ever had before. Tricia leveraged her entrepreneurial spirit, natural creativity, and advertising expertise as a former executive to create Toddlewood, Hollywood-grade photography, and videography services for toddlers and children.

Scroll down the Toddlewood Instagram page to see beautiful child models styled in the image of some of the most influential pop culture figures, like Vice President Kamala Harris, Grammy-winning artist Beyoncé, actress Reese Witherspoon, or even Disney’s Maleficent! Since the COVID-19 Pandemic, she has brought smiles to her followers’ faces with the innovative “TrailblazHER” photo web series that pays homage to iconic female pioneers across many industries. Photos from her mini-celebrity series are used to compose photo books with a bio of each featured model. According to Tricia, “This started off as a simple idea to transform kids into red carpet royalty but has now become a message-driven platform. [With the TrailblazHER project,] I can see we’re doing something pretty cool by boosting up the notion of Girl Power. It’s

“I’m interested in inspiring kids to become a positive influence in the world and make a difference.” especially compelling because we are addressing girls of all races, ages, and sizes! I’m interested in inspiring kids to become a positive influence in the world and make a difference.” Toddlewood offers headshots, editorials, fashion photoshoots, and video opportunities, like commercial concepts or recreated commercials, to equip kids with stand-out portfolios that prepare them for a long, successful career in Hollywood. Stayed tuned for an exciting Toddlewood feature on CBS coming this fall!

Now a wife and mother of 16-year-old Skylar and 10-year-old Sunday, Tricia first discovered her passion for photography and digital media after studying TV and Film Production in college. And, how cool is this? Tricia is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., the same sorority as current VP Harris! With her education and professional experience behind her, she never shies away from a challenge and constantly pushes the envelope to grow her brand. What does a typical day in the life of Tricia Messeroux look like? A primary benefit of being your own boss is the ability to determine your work schedule. If you’re

self-aware like Tricia, you’ll be able to tell if you’re an early bird or more of a late riser. As a working mom, Tricia and her husband collaborate on getting her girls to school in the morning before heading to her home office at 9:30 am. Although we love to see her finished projects on social media, we rarely get to see everything that goes on behind the scenes—from replying to email inquiries, scheduling appointments, and editing photos, videos, and content for her feed. She expects full days ahead of her filled with photoshoots or long-term projects, communicating with her team, and most importantly, having fun doing what she loves.

To enjoy a better quality of life with her family while exercising her passions, Tricia knew it was time to reinvent herself When asked how becoming a mother influenced her career trajectory, Tricia opened up about her position in a demanding advertising agency. After becoming a new mom to her first-born Skylar, she struggled to maintain a healthy work-life balance due to long hours and constant travel. To enjoy a better quality of life with her family while exercising her passions, Tricia knew it was time to reinvent herself, “and this reinvention had to include Skylar… which it did.” Her initial styled shoot involved turning Skylar into Diana Ross, and the rest fell into place!

“Let her think!” Once she’s locked in, it’s easy to tell that Tricia means business. A self-taught photographer, Tricia went through trial and error to perfect her craft. Today, her unique approach to photography relies solely on trusting herself and her artistic vision. Those in the studio with Tricia when she has a camera in her hand often exclaim, “Let her think!” Once she’s locked in, it’s easy to tell that Tricia means business. Her undeniable drive is just one reason we’re confident the founder of Toddlewood will succeed in any endeavor she pursues. With years of experience, Tricia’s camera lens has captured many

influential individuals, delicious food, and scenic places for reputable organizations. Every successful person starts somewhere! We applaud Tricia for the dedicated wife, mother, business owner, and creative mind she is. Stay updated on all things Toddlewood and Tricia’s upcoming projects by following her accounts @tmezz_creates, @tmezz_the_photographer, and @toddlewood on Instagram.

Self Love + Adult Mediation= THE SOLUTION TO END BULLYING? By Michelle Elizabeth Photography: Michelle Baragona (@michelle__studios)

“People doing great things like helping others, but like in a big way or doing something really amazing like changing the way people live or think.” Erini Serrano is a 9 year old model and activist originally from New York. Currently she resides in North Carolina with her parents. She’s always enjoyed dressing up and posing for pictures, so her parents enrolled her in modeling classes so she would gain more confidence. Even though Erini really enjoyed the runway and came out of her shell more, she wasn’t satisfied with the classes. For her, doing in person workshops and one on one lessons with professionals as well as watching youtube tutorials was more effective. Erini would love to continue modeling as she gets older, but also wants to have a career in technology. She enjoys coding and recently participated in a summer camp for coding and earned a certification. This determined little entrepreneur also wants to get into real estate and own rental properties for additional income. Her dream is to donate a lot of money to charities such as St. Jude’s as well as anything that helps starving children and others. Erini is really passionate about helping others and jumps on any opportunity to do so. What Serrano loves most about modeling is “getting on the runway and just being in my own world. I feel like a different person. I also love all the clothes. Fashion is so cool you can dress and act the part. Meeting so many friends is another favorite.” The hardest part for her is not smiling when she’s on the runway and sees her parents. Seeing their loving faces in the audience fills her with so much joy that she feels like bursting out laughing. So far the most exciting moments in Erini’s career have been the firsts- such as her very first one on one photoshoot and the first time she saw herself in a magazine. She says, “I felt like I feel when I swim. I felt free like I'm the only one here and I am amazing. It just felt so good.” Erini gets inspired when she sees “people doing great things like helping others, but like in a big way or doing something really amazing like changing the way people live or think. Makes me feel like I can do that too. I feel like if that person can I can too!” KidFashMagazine.com/October2021 37

Serrano became an advocate for Self Love and Anti Bullying because she has been a victim of bullying. She’s also been excluded and treated very badly by her peers. When it happened she confided in her mother who explained that it's ok to love yourself. She says, “What others say and do has nothing to do with what we feel about ourselves. There is nothing wrong with saying good things about yourself and loving yourself - You are SUPPOSED to.” Erini practices self love by telling herself what she’s good at. “I will say ‘I'm smart, I'm strong, I'm talented, I am kind.’ I also take good care of myself. I like to dress up to make myself feel good.” Most importantly, she doesn’t let people treat her badly anymore. She says,”I love myself too much to let anyone treat me badly or speak to me bad.” Erini says she was bullied for being “different”. Also, she is very nice and many people treated her like a doormat. They assumed that because she was nice, she wouldn’t say anything and just let the bullying continue. At school, there was one girl in particular who kept bothering her. It started with the girl just physically tapping her, then she started pushing her, and eventually the girl would intentionally stomp on Erini’s feet. It became an everyday occurrence. She told her parents about the bullying and they talked to the school’s administration, but nothing was done to stop the bullying. Erini explains, “Schools don't like the word ‘Bully.’ They want to call it something different so they don't look bad. They did nothing, just called her to the office, but she never stopped.” They thought that the kids needed to resolve it amongst themselves. Eventually it got to the point where Erini hated going to school. Finally, her parents removed her from that school and put her in a charter school that she absolutely loved. Erini believes that the situation could have been resolved with adults mediating it, like her current school does. She says, “Kids need help with that. I know my mom helps me. Sometimes I get nervous and cry or can't talk so it's best to have adults step in. I think if kids were taught at home to be kind and respectful things could be better.”

“There is nothing wrong with saying good things about yourself and loving yourself - You are SUPPOSED to.”

“You need to stop and tell your parents so they can help you. Write them a letter. Tell them to spend quality time with you, so you feel loved.” Unfortunately bullying isn’t limited to just one particular place, it can happen anywhere. So even after Erini switched schools, she still had to put up with the neighborhood bullies. She says, “This time it doesn't bother me because I realize now it comes from bad parenting. The parents are supposed to teach kids. Kids can't teach themselves. Sometimes that's what's going on. Parents don't step in. I'm very lucky to have parents that always have my back. That is how I learned about self love. My mother explained to me that we value ourselves too much to get upset or be around negative people. We have to be with people that are smarter, better, we can learn from, and that want us to do well.” This Model turned activist wants kids to know that they are not alone. She says, “When I was bullied I felt sad, lonely, like no one liked me… I was really sad. I never want anyone to feel that way...The truth is those people probably aren't given any attention at home. They are probably jealous of you or just upset about something. Tell someone. If they don't listen, tell someone in your school staff. If they don't listen, message me. I will talk to anyone”. She also recommends seeing a therapist because it really helped her. Erini says that she feels sorry for the bullies as well because she understands that they are in pain. She advises, “You need to stop and tell your parents so they can help you. Write them a letter. Tell them to spend quality time with you, so you feel loved.” Lastly, Erini Serrano wants kids and teens to know that they can make a huge difference in the world by looking for “the kids that are ‘weird’ or stick out or treated differently, excluded.” She recommends giving them compliments and inviting them to play or to go to events with you. She explains, ”You can make their day! You can change someone's whole life by making that change. Give them hope like they are seen that day. I give compliments everyday... because I know I am making someone smile. Everyone should do their part to include everyone. Never leave anyone out.”

Meet Scarlett Bella Song, 13-year-old Dallas, Texas resident, dancer, model, brand ambassador, inf luencer.. Do you feel out of the loop since the COVID-19 Pandemic? Well, we're about to clue you into one of Hollywood's youngest and best-kept secrets! Meet Scarlett Bella Song, 13-year-old Dallas, Texas resident, dancer, model, brand ambassador, influencer-- the list goes on and on. Scarlett has a resume that would intimidate most grown adults, and her career is only in its infancy. Let's take you back to the very beginning, the days in which Scarlett planted the seeds for a budding career in entertainment and the creative arts. Dance was introduced to her at two-year-old while living in New Jersey. At three years old, after the Song family relocated to Massachusetts, Scarlett was enrolled in a musical theatre program and A Triple Threat (Acting, Dancing, Singing) program, where she built the foundation of her skill set. Upon her sixth birthday, her dreams of becoming a

A year in, Scarlett was scouted at a dance convention and invited to join a national dance company called Urban Generation, now disbanded. Urban Generation gave a social media platform to emerging pre-professional artists who aspired to dance professionally. In UG, she was featured in concept dance videos, met many talented professional dancers and choreographers, and discovered her interest in becoming a professional.

balancing obligations and regulating her emotions when disappointed, bullied, or blacklisted. These are all necessary skills to build an enduring career in the entertainment industry.

Storytime! Scarlett and her family went on a Disney Cruise vacation, where the MC of the Talent Show encouraged her to move to Los Angeles to pursue the industry. Serendipitously, her father was offered an exciting career opportunity in LA, so they moved for The art of dance is now a core element of her identity three years --- until he recently accepted a new opportuand a significant part of her daily life. Dance has taught nity in Dallas. Scarlett countless invaluable lessons, from decision-making and delaying instant gratification to 62 KidFashMagazine.com/October2021

I also had wonderful experiences off the runway --- such as getting professional runway training at Ripley-Grier and walking the red carpet at the after-party." Modeling was a natural fit for Scarlett due to her love for fashion and prior movement training from years of dance. She recalls the excitement of being accepted into a Modeling Training Camp Program in NYC at just eight years old. One of her most significant accomplishments to date is signing with NYMMG because it made the dream of modeling feel more like a reality.

/////////////////////

This year, she walked in two shows (and danced in one) at New York Fashion Week. Reflecting on her experience, "For the House of Barretti show, I participated in theatrical storytelling and walked the runway. It was an honor to represent the designs and showcase original creations. I also had wonderful experiences off the runway --- such as getting professional runway training at Ripley-Grier and walking the red carpet at the after-party."

It is remarkable how we can interact with people all over the world who have similar passions and interests

///////////////////// If you've been paying attention, we've already rattled off three different locations Scarlett has called home. Whether it's New Jersey, Massachusetts, California, or Texas, Scarlett's focus and drive remain intact as she seeks out the best opportunities each unique destination has to offer. Getting more personal, Scarlet shared, "My greatest passion outside of excelling in school and the performing arts? International travel! While I envision a future with time split between LA and NYC, I also hope to visit as many countries as I can to fuel my inspiration and broaden my perspective." Luckily, the forces of social media enable us to stay connected despite the distance. Scarlett fully credits social media with connecting her to exciting dance, modeling, brand ambassadorship, business and development opportunities, and even more importantly, friendships! According to the 13-year-old Triple Threat, "It is remarkable how we can interact with people all over the world who have similar passions and interests. I visited 16 countries before the COVID-19 Pandemic, and I love that social media can be my vicarious way of immersing myself in different cultures while I can't physically travel myself."

64 KidFashMagazine.com/October2021

Scarlett then extended some words of wisdom, culminated by years of Hollywood-level experience, to other young entertainers, artists, and creatives aspiring to break into the scene: be realistic and go for it! She opened up about the reality of working in show business and precisely what steps you might take to ultimately reach your goals, whether it's landing your dream commercial role or being featured in your favorite brand's photo shoot. While each individual has a unique path, "to get started, you might want to find a manager, agent, and acting coach. Then, you want to start signing up for websites where you can self-submit to open auditions. I recommend you give it your best effort when you go on auditions and submit tapes because you might be exactly what the casting agent is looking for! It takes a tremendous amount of time, dedication, and sacrifice… But, if you love the process and you're able to bounce back from disappointments, then you have the wherewithal to pursue your dreams. While it is glamorous and exciting, it is demanding, challenging, and simply not for everyone. Understand that you might not get casted because of your "look" or another reason outside of your control… that's just the nature of the beast. Also, it is definitely about an industry all about 'who you know.' If you have a connection to fast-track your journey and to gain momentum, then you have a major head start!" It is essential to factor in that sometimes, talent, hard work, dedication, and passion are not always enough. You might find that some opportunities are exclusively for "insiders" and that "breaking into the industry" or waiting for your "big break" is almost a rite of passage in the industry. A natural-born creative, she shared a fascinating announcement with us in her tell-all interview: launching her teen fashion jewelry collection in a one-time collaboration with Annie & Sisters early this January 2022! The "Annie x Scarlett" collection includes sterling silver and rhinestone earrings, necklaces, and bracelets for fashionistas everywhere. No matter where life takes Scarlett Bella, we know she'll approach her future with grace, humility, perseverance, and professionalism. Remember her name; we're sure she has a bright future ahead of her!

The New Generation of

LUXURY By: Gianna Simonelli

"Our goal is to build a name synonymous with luxury and quality, so no matter what product carries the House of Barretti logo, you will know the quality and craftsmanship is of our standard." House of Barretti has distinguished itself as an industry leader in all things couture clothing, clean skincare, and nourishing hair care since its founding in 2018. The young brand's very name elicits luxe, royal imagery! However, this is all by design, as explained by co-founder Isabella Barrett. The fashion label bears the Barrett family's namesake and was carefully selected to honor their Italian heritage and crest. Isabella shared, "Our goal is to build a name synonymous with luxury and quality, so no matter what product carries the House of Barretti logo, you will know the quality and craftsmanship is of our standard." House of Barretti aims to make luxury accessible to young girls after identifying an urgent need for affordable and appropriate formal wear in the teen fashion space. The up-and-coming fashion house specializes in modern, couture blazer and suit lines for successful, teenaged fashionistas.

KidFashMagazine.com/October2021 99

Speaking of which, Isabella Barrett's career trajectory proves that she is a perfect fit for that category. Her first taste of Hollywood came at only five years old when featured on TLC's hit reality show Toddlers and Tiaras in 2012. Since retiring her pageant crowns, Isabella shifted her focus to the big screen, fashion scene, influencing, and entrepreneurship. Her star-studded resume has grown to include features in Bravo TV Game of Crowns, Get Made Global, Kid Entrepreneurs, and most recently, Amazon Prime's Next Big Thing NYC. A promising New York Fashion Week debut in 2018 landed a distribution contract for House of Barretti's blazer collection. Since then, Isabella and her House of Barretti family have reached new heights and expanded their product selection beyond traditional formal wear.

"driven by being comfortable while looking super cute and putting a unique twist on the look!" This is all a calculated reflection of the ambitious teen's personal style, which is "driven by being comfortable while looking super cute and putting a unique twist on the look! No matter what she wears, it's essential that it makes her feel happy and confident. This year, Isabella can't wait to color in her fashion and rock a pair of jeans, boots, and a cute blazer" in Fall 2021. House of Barretti blazers are the perfect way to elevate your fall street style. The products you use on your hair and body are just as important as the clothing you wear! Luckily for all teenaged consumers, House of Barretti is formulating clean skincare and hair care products that will have you looking and feeling your best. After feeling helpless in her struggle with acne, Isabella embarked on a clean care journey and hasn't looked back! House of Barretti's clean skincare line is guaranteed to offer high-quality, natural solutions to relatable teen skin problems at an affordable price point. KidFashMagazine.com/October2021 101

Her best-selling skincare product is Lux Hand Cream, available in a 30 OZ bottle and crafted with avocado for skin health. The Shampoo and Conditioner Set, formulated with natural mango and seed oils, is the most popular hair care product. In commitment to clean beauty standards, these products do not incorporate harsh dyes or artificial scents and are 100% safe for daily use. Just as Isabella promises, if it says "House of Barretti," you know it's going to be the most top-quality luxury.

"House of Barretti," you know it's going to be the most top-quality luxury.

House of Barretti clothing dresses some of this generation's biggest Hollywood stars. Isabella proudly cited, "Our suits scream young Hollywood! We have dressed many successful teens, like Jojo Siwa, Maddie Ziegler, P! nk's daughter, even retired Yankee Derek Jeter's nephew has rocked our Boy Bow Ties." She advises all young individuals aspiring to enter the fashion and beauty industries just to do it! Use your young age to your advantage and go through trial and error until you find what genuinely sparks your passion. KidFash readers can find House of Barretti clothing and products on their official website, www.houseofbarretti.com. Keep up with Isabella and her House of Barretti team by following their Instagram pages (@isabellabarrett123 @houseofbarretti) and Facebook account (@HouseofBarretti).

ABBIE ROSE HOW TO BECOME A MODEL WITH

By: Jennifer Pucci Starr Photographer: Robert Rainbow (@portraits_by_rainbow)

"She would gather kids in class to imagine play at recess and teachers would tell me about her ability to pretend and direct other kids at the same time." First impressions are important, especially when you are a kid with big dreams! For Abbie Rose, @abbierose_chronicles, first impressions are a breeze. The young model/actress has won over quite a few casting agents with her kindness and beauty. Today, Abbie Rose is well on her way to success and KIDFASH took a moment to talk to Abbie and her mom Shannon for some inspiration for other aspiring kids. Abbie found her love for acting when she was just 5 years old. Performing in her first kindergarten show, Abbie immediately took to the stage. Her parents had already seen that spark as Abbie performed at home. “I got Abbie acting locally at a young age because she naturally would put together skits,” says Shannon. “ She would gather kids in class to imagine play at recess and teachers would tell me about her ability to pretend and direct other kids at the same time. I think starting early allowed her to get comfortable on stage too.”

"She has gone from a model/ actress, to a working model/actress. " At just 11 years old, Abbie is said to have an old soul. “She is a kind kid and has a sincere interest in people and the world around her,” says Shannon. Everyone who meets her notices her kindness, and the unique combination of spunkiness and sweetness.” Indeed, she is unique and people are drawn to her when they meet her. “Abbie helps others, loves being active, is vivacious but not in an overwhelming way, and has a strong sense of compassion.” Abbie’s dream is to become a famous actress/ model, who can use her influence in a positive way, helping others achieve their dreams.

Be Open to Try New Things Becoming an actress was Abbie’s main focus, and her mom helped her seek out outlets for her passion. However, in 2020 during COVID all of that came to a halt when theaters and really most of the world began to shut down. “we decided to use that creative energy modeling.” Abbie used her love for expressing her art and put her focus into modeling. As many of us did, being social meant taking advantage of online platforms, and that’s just what Abbie and Shannon did. They began to focus more on building her Instagram and TikTok – taking advantage of the video aspect which allowed Abbie to shine in her acting and modeling simultaneously. “Social media is how we have built a portfolio of work during a pandemic year,” says Shannon. “She has gone from a model/ actress, to a working model/actress.”

Learning how to utilize these platforms properly to network has been very helpful for Abbie’s career. Networking with other aspiring models and actors, and forming relationships with brands that suit her look would have been much harder without social media. “It’s a tool, part of our strategy to help propel her forward by building relationships in the industry,” says Shannon. “That and working hard, taking every opportunity that comes her way, has helped her grow over this last year - it’s only been a year!” A big part of that was also taking the time to research outside management and as Shannon reached out to a few agencies everything started to fall into place. “She is now managed by Nouveaux NY and agency represented by Click Philly and X-L-N-T Models,” says Shannon.

They Can’t Do It Alone As with any career, it has its challenges and sacrifices, for both the child and their caregiver. Shannon says she and Abbie have daily responsibilities that can often involve a lot of work. A parent’s role can include updating photos, answering emails, helping your actor or model fine tune their skill, submitting tapes for job opportunities, and a lot of driving. There is also a financial investment to consider, especially when they are getting their start. “The hardest part of this journey is navigating the waters of acting and modeling, ”says Shannon. “Trying to make the right decisions for the wellbeing of your child and her career, while surrounding yourself with the right people- people who are routing for her to succeed.” Shannon constantly checks in with Abbie to make sure she is happy continuing her work. “We communicate openly about what she likes and dislikes about work to ensure that she is on the right path for her career.”

" The hardest part of this journey is navigating the waters of acting and modeling," KidFashMagazine.com/October2021 119

" There are so many talented people out there with a myriad of skills and getting to work with them is exciting and fun," Abbie has sacrifices too. Being 11 means sleepovers and sports and play dates. Oftentimes she has to choose work over all of those things, but there are benefits to the hard work. “Most days I love working with Abbie, and seeing her try new things and doing them well,” says Shannon. “With every new adventure she learns something that helps her better prepare for the next thing that comes along. It’s rewarding as a parent, but also hard work. And those skills can be transferred into the real world, so it really is a benefit to her.” 120 KidFashMagazine.com/October2021

It’s Not All Hard Work Even though all the effort can be challenging, Abbie and Shannon believe one of the most enjoyable parts of all of it is being able to meet some amazing people along the way. “There are so many talented people out there with a myriad of skills and getting to work with them is exciting and fun,” says Shannon. “Abbie has made many model, acting and even photographer friends that she never would have met if it wasn’t for her work.”

" Walking that runway was always a goal of hers, and she achieved it !! " The jobs can be a lot of fun too! Some of Abbie’s most memorable shoots were shooting with Spirit Halloween, and working with Atlanta-based photographer Robert Rainbow. She also loved filming and shooting a commercial for a local photographer, Kelly Mayer Photography, and has been featured on many brand websites including: MyHannahbanana, and JB London. Most recently however, was what Abbie says was her best experience so far— the youngest model to walk down the runway at New York Fashion Week for designer Elie Balleh. “Abbie rocked her very first professional catwalk at New York Fashion Week, while showcasing a white blazer bejeweled with the most beautiful crystals,” says Shannon. “Walking that runway was always a goal of hers, and she achieved it!! As a mom I was so proud to see her out there living her dream and being fierce and confident for all the world to see.” Setting and reaching her goals has also been achieved lately as Abbie surpassed 100,000 followers on Instagram. However you won’t hear any bragging from Abbie on that. “She is beautiful inside and out and has a great head on her shoulders,” says Shannon. According to Abbie "I’m proud of the growth I’ve achieved this last year as a model and actor… and it’s just the beginning!"
