Earth and Sky
Denton, Texas
Fall 2021
Created out of shipping containers, Earth and Sky is a combined small business and residence showcasing the beauty of traditional Navajo textiles and culture. With the use of sustainable and natural materials combined with the owner’s way of life, the home business becomes more sustainable, thus lowering the impact on the environment. Additionally, the theory of Prospect and Refuge design allows the public to access the shop as needed while still giving the owners a private living space for their everyday lives.

Prospesct
The textile shop serves the prospect aspect. It has large storefront glazing with a glass door creating an inviting environment for the customers. The windows allow an abundance of natural light into the space.
Refuge
For the refuge aspect, the home has a private entrance not seen from the street. This creates a stronger sense of privacy for the client at home. The front entrance features windows by the front door to allow for natural light.

The green roof system comprises different layers to ensure it is long-lasting and does not cause damage to the home.
Green roofs can:
• act as noise insulation
• reduce reflective sound by up to 3 dB
• reduce rainwater runoff by 50-70% resulting in more minor capacity requirements for pipes and drainage systems.
This system on the homes utilizes an automatic sensor-based irrigation system and requires minimal maintenance by the homeowners.

Brazilian Red Hots

ACI Worldwide
Austin, Texas Spring 2022
The design theory of the office space is Prospect and Refuge. To achieve this, the core concepts are to promote a collaborative environment while also lending towards a mentally positive work setting.
This site is located in Austin, Texas. The building is near Interstate 35, causing some road noise and distraction. However, it is also located right off the Colorado river, lending towards views of nature and water. Since the site is located in a downtown area, it accommodates both foot traffic and motor vehicles.

Metropolitain
Dallas, Texas
Spring 2022
Group Project
The goal of our restaurant is to create an intriguing and comfortable environment for the guests to socialize and dine.
Inspired by the Art Nouveau movement in early 20th century France, the restaurant name pays homage to Hector Guimard’s train station signs, titled “Metropolitain.” Metropolitan means “of a big city” so the name encompasses both the location of central Dallas, while the French spelling allows guests to quickly assume what type of food will be served as well as the environment that will be presented. The restaurant’s interior design will also include inspiration from the movement, with a more modern take. Features such as ironwork, curvilinear forms, and material details will be inspired by French architecture and design.

Custom Furniture
Non-profit Office Spring 2022
This reception desk was custom designed for the non-profit organization Reading is Fundamental (RIF). This organization promotes child literacy in America. They believe every child should have the opportunity to learn how to read as that is the foundation of all learning from that point. The concept for this was to incorporate the shape of an open book into the design. This open book idea symbolizes that the book will never close on a child’s learning, and they should always be given the support they need. The final design was worked shopped a few times until it was settled that the top view of an open book would be created on the front of the desk.
