DCON IS ALMOST HERE! The 69th Annual Texas-Oklahoma Key Club District Convention will be held April 12 - 15th to celebrate all the superheros of service we have in the T-O District! Have you and your club registered for DCON yet? Early Registration closes March 9th. Following March 9th you still can register, but registration fees are increased to $175 per member attending. If you have any questions regarding DCON registration feel free to contact myself or convention liaison, Dajah Brooks. I am so excited for DCON 2018 and I hope you all are too! I hope to see you all at DCON this year!

Membership Even though the school year is almost over, membership recruitment doesn’t have to end! Keep building your club all year long! Be creative and keep people interested. Share with students what Key Club stands for and the opportunities it offers! Be inclusive and inviting! Tell others about your Key Club experience and invite them to gain their own experiences with Key Club. Remember… you have to be a paid member to attend DCON! Member Recruitment Ideas: ● After school Socials ● Prospective Member Meetings ● Have a contest to see which member can bring the most guests to your next meeting ● Post flyers & posters around the school ● Try to get your club advertised in your school announcements ● Plan a day for your club to wear your Key Club Shirts

2018 DCON Theme Superheros of Service “Saving the World Through Service” That’s Right! This year’s DCON theme is “Superheros of Service”! Our Texas-Oklahoma Key Clubbers are Superheros everyday that are saving the world through service to their homes, schools, and communities! On behalf of the T-O District Board, I hope to see you all there!

DCON What is DCON? DCON stands for District Convention. Our Texas-Oklahoma DCON is a great place to meet other Key Clubbers from all around the Texas-Oklahoma District who share your passion for service. You have the opportunity to compete with your club, elect district officers, learn more about Key Club, and have a wonderful weekend full of Key Club spirit! When and Where is DCON? Our 2018 T-O DCON will be from April 12 - 15, 2018 at the Sheraton Hotel Downtown Dallas How much are DCON registration costs? Regular Registration: $135 per person Late Registration: $175 per person Please note that the above prices do NOT include hotel and transportation! 5


District Staff Positions DO YOU WANT TO RUN FOR A DISTRICT STAFF POSITION? Elected District Staff Positions Candidacy forms due by March 9th ● District Governor: As District Governor, you would serve as the leader of the T-O District. ● District Secretary: As District Secretary, you would grade monthly reports from T-O District Key Clubs and take minutes of all district board meetings. ● District Treasurer: As District Treasurer, you would set membership goals and report on the standing of clubs in the T-O District Appointed District Staff Positions Candidacy forms due by April 2nd ● Convention Liaison: As Convention Liaison, you would plan and run next year’s DCON. ● District Editor: As District Editor, you would grade newsletters and articles from T-O District Key Clubs. You would also create the Tex-O-Key newsletters distributed to our district. Tech Producer Candidacy forms due by April 2nd ● As Tech Producer you would create graphics to be used by the district and materials for DCON. February Task of the Month & Article Prompts December Task of the Month: Take a picture at least one of your service projects and send it in with your report. Make sure it is of members in action! I can’t wait to see what you club does. December Article Prompts: 1. Reflect on a DCON memory! Be sure to express why you remember it and why it’s meaningful to you. 2. How is your club fundraising and advertising for DCON? 3. How has your club contributed to the major emphasis projects and/or the Thirst Project? Describe in detail what you did and your impact! 4. Submit a Humans of Texas Oklahoma! How was your Key Club Experience and what is Key Club to you? Submit with a picture of you. Article Guidelines:​ The articles should each have at least 1 JPG photo and be sent as Microsoft Word documents. Have the author, school name, division, article title, and prompt/whatever topic you choose at the top of the document. Email February articles by ​March 5th​ to Editor@tokeyclub.com​ with the email subject: Division School February Articles.

Club Secretaries Mail a hard copy of your club reports to the ​District Secretary​, Shelby Morton. The​ physical copy must be postmarked by the 5th of each month​, unless the 5th falls on a legal holiday. Email digital copies of your reports to your ​Lieutenant Governor, Regional Advisor, Assistant Regional Advisor, Kiwanis Sponsor, and District Secretary​ by the ​5th of each month​. All appropriate mailing and email addresses are listed here. Club Editors Mail a digital copy of your newsletter and any Tex-O-Key article submissions to the ​District Editor, District Secretary, Lieutenant Governor, Regional Advisor, Assistant Regional Advisor and Kiwanis Sponsor ​by the 5th of each month.
