Regional​ ​Training Conference

What​ ​is​ ​a​ ​Regional​ ​Training​ ​Conference? A​ ​Regional​ ​Training​ ​Conference(RTC)​ ​is an​ ​opportunity​ ​for​ ​Key​ ​Clubbers​ ​from​ ​all over​ ​Region​ ​12​ ​to​ ​gather​ ​to​ ​learn​ ​more about​ ​their​ ​officer​ ​positions,​ ​our organization,​ ​and​ ​how​ ​to​ ​have​ ​a successful​ ​Key​ ​Club​ ​Year!​ ​It​ ​will​ ​be​ ​a​ ​fun event​ ​packed​ ​full​ ​of​ ​activities,​ ​forums, raffles,​ ​and​ ​even​ ​a​ ​guest​ ​speaker. Breakfast​ ​and​ ​Lunch​ ​will​ ​be​ ​provided. Who​ ​can​ ​attend​ ​our​ ​RTC? Any​ ​Key​ ​Clubber​ ​is​ ​welcome​ ​to​ ​attend​ ​the​ ​Regional​ ​Training Conference!​ ​Club​ ​officers​ ​are​ ​highly​ ​encouraged​ ​to​ ​attend​ ​the​ ​event, so​ ​they​ ​are​ ​able​ ​to​ ​gain​ ​more​ ​training​ ​on​ ​their​ ​position. When​ ​&​ ​Where​ ​will​ ​the​ ​RTC​ ​be? The​ ​Regional​ ​Training​ ​Conference​ ​will​ ​be​ ​held​ ​at​ ​Cypress​ ​Falls​ ​High School.​ ​The​ ​school’s​ ​address​ ​is​ ​9811​ ​Huffmeister​ ​Road,​ ​Houston,​ ​TX 77095​.​ ​Doors​ ​will​ ​open​ ​around​ ​8am​​ ​and​ ​the​ ​RTC​ ​will​ ​be​ ​concluded around​ ​3pm​. How​ ​can​ ​we​ ​attend​ ​the​ ​RTC? In​ ​the​ ​near​ ​future​ ​I​ ​will​ ​send​ ​a​ ​list​ ​to​ ​all​ ​the​ ​Club​ ​Officers​ ​to​ ​record​ ​who in​ ​their​ ​clubs​ ​wish​ ​to​ ​attend​ ​so​ ​we​ ​can​ ​gather​ ​an​ ​estimate​ ​of​ ​how​ ​many Key​ ​Clubbers​ ​in​ ​our​ ​Division​ ​wish​ ​to​ ​attend.​ ​Closer​ ​to​ ​the​ ​date​ ​of​ ​the RTC,​ ​we​ ​will​ ​record​ ​a​ ​final​ ​count​ ​of​ ​attendees​ ​from​ ​our​ ​division.

This​ ​Summer​ ​at​ ​Key​ ​Club International​ ​Convention,​ ​the 2017-2018​ ​Key​ ​Club International​ ​Board​ ​was elected​ ​and​ ​instated.​ ​The newly​ ​instated​ ​board​ ​is​ ​listed below.​ ​Saul​ ​Ontiveros​ ​will​ ​serve as​ ​the​ ​trustee​ ​for​ ​T-O​ ​district.

Member​ ​Recruitment As​ ​the​ ​school​ ​year​ ​begins,​ ​this​ ​is​ ​a​ ​great time​ ​to​ ​recruit​ ​new​ ​members​ ​to​ ​join​ ​Key Club.​ ​Have​ ​socials,​ ​informative meetings,​ ​wear​ ​your​ ​Key​ ​Club​ ​shirts, and​ ​bring​ ​guests​ ​your​ ​Key​ ​Club Meetings.​ ​Share​ ​with​ ​students​ ​what​ ​Key Club​ ​stands​ ​for​ ​and​ ​the​ ​opportunities​ ​it offers!​ ​Be​ ​inclusive​ ​and​ ​inviting!​ ​Tell others​ ​about​ ​your​ ​Key​ ​Club​ ​experience and​ ​invite​ ​them​ ​to​ ​gain​ ​their​ ​own experiences​ ​with​ ​Key​ ​Club. Member​ ​Recruitment​ ​Ideas: ● After​ ​school​ ​Socials ● Prospective​ ​Member​ ​Meetings ● Have​ ​a​ ​contest​ ​to​ ​see​ ​which member​ ​can​ ​bring​ ​the​ ​most​ ​guests to​ ​your​ ​next​ ​meeting ● Post​ ​flyers​ ​&​ ​posters​ ​around​ ​the school ● Try​ ​to​ ​get​ ​your​ ​club​ ​advertised​ ​in your​ ​school​ ​announcements ● Plan​ ​a​ ​day​ ​for​ ​your​ ​club​ ​to​ ​wear your​ ​Key​ ​Club​ ​Shirts

Youth​ ​Opportunities​ ​Fund

What​ ​is​ ​the​ ​Youth​ ​Opportunities​ ​Fund? The​ ​Youth​ ​Opportunities​ ​Fund(YOF)​ ​is​ ​an​ ​endowed​ ​fund​ ​for Key​ ​Club​ ​International​ ​held​ ​within​ ​Kiwanis​ ​International Foundation. What​ ​does​ ​the​ ​YOF​ ​do? YOF​ ​awards​ ​grants​ ​to​ ​help​ ​Key Clubbers​ ​from​ ​around​ ​the​ ​world take​ ​action.​ ​Service​ ​projects​ ​in​ ​your schools​ ​and​ ​communities​ ​can​ ​be funded​ ​by​ ​YOF​ ​grants. How​ ​can​ ​you​ ​apply​ ​for​ ​a​ ​YOF​ ​grant? Key​ ​Clubs​ ​can​ ​fill​ ​out​ ​a​ ​YOF​ ​grant​ ​application​ ​requesting between​ ​$100​ ​to​ ​$2000.​ ​You​ ​can​ ​find​ ​the​ ​application​ ​at keyclub.org/yof​.​ ​All​ ​applications​ ​must​ ​be​ ​submitted​ ​by October​ ​15th​ ​at​ ​11:59pm. How​ ​are​ ​YOF​ ​grants​ ​awarded? The​ ​YOF​ ​committee​ ​of​ ​the​ ​KCI​ ​board​ ​reviews​ ​the​ ​applications and​ ​selects​ ​the​ ​projects​ ​they​ ​would​ ​like​ ​to​ ​award​ ​grants​ ​to. The​ ​committee​ ​is​ ​more​ ​likely​ ​to​ ​select​ ​your​ ​application​ ​if​ ​you are​ ​requesting​ ​a​ ​grant​ ​for​ ​a​ ​part​ ​of​ ​the​ ​costs​ ​instead​ ​of​ ​the entire​ ​project​ ​cost.​ ​Funding​ ​notifications​ ​are​ ​sent​ ​out​ ​no​ ​later than​ ​January​ ​1st​ ​each​ ​year.

The​ ​Eliminate​ ​Project Kiwanis​​ ​and​ ​Unicef​​ ​have teamed​ ​up​ ​to​ ​eliminate Maternal/Neonatal Tetanus​.​ ​Due​ ​to​ ​the​ ​efforts of​ ​these​ ​organizations​ ​in conjunction​ ​with​ ​the dedication​ ​of​ ​Key Clubbers,​ ​only​ ​16​ ​nations are​ ​still​ ​affected​ ​by Maternal/Neonatal tetanus.​ ​The​ ​work​ ​of​ ​the ELIMINATE​ ​project​ ​has recently​ ​helped​ ​eliminate Maternal/Neonatal tetanus​ ​from​ ​Ethiopia and​ ​Haiti​!

HALO​ ​Movement Did​ ​you​ ​know​ ​that​ ​Nickelodeon​ ​is​ ​one​ ​of​ ​Key​ ​Club’s Vision​ ​Partners? In​ ​an​ ​effort​ ​to​ ​recognize​ ​outstanding​ ​servant​ ​leaders around​ ​the​ ​world,​ ​Nickelodeon​​ ​has​ ​launched​ ​the​ ​new HALO​ ​Movement​!​ ​The​ ​HALO​ ​Movement​ ​is​ ​striving​ ​to empower​ ​young​ ​folks​ ​like​ ​us​ ​to​ ​better​ ​our​ ​communities with​ ​HALO​ ​grants​.​ ​These​ ​grants​ ​can​ ​be​ ​used​ ​to​ ​fund service​ ​projects​ ​in​ ​your​ ​community.​ ​You​ ​may​ ​even​ ​be featured​ ​on​ ​the​ ​HALO​ ​Movement​ ​website​ ​and​ ​even Nickelodeon!​ ​Applications​ ​for​ ​HALO​ ​grants​ ​open September​ ​1st​​ ​on​ ​the​ ​KCI​ ​Facebook​ ​Page.​ ​There​ ​will​ ​be 2​ ​funding​ ​cycles​ ​per​ ​school​ ​year.​ ​The​ ​first​ ​application window​ ​will​ ​be​ ​from​ ​September​ ​1,​ ​2017​ ​to​ ​December​ ​1, 2017​,​ ​and​ ​the​ ​second​ ​application​ ​window​ ​will​ ​be​ ​open on​ ​February​ ​1,​ ​2018​ ​to​ ​May​ ​1,​ ​2018​.
