Welcome to Geis Angus Farm

Welcome to The Second 1st Annual Geis Angus Farm Bull Sale. The reboot of Geis Angus holds a huge amount of respect and gratitude towards where we came from. We would have not made it to where we are today without the support from where it started. It’s taken many years to rebuild the herd back to a point where we feel confident enough that the quality of cattle are a strong representative to the legacy that we were built from. This is the first bullpen that my fiance and I have raised together and we couldn’t be more proud.

We have built our herd by trying to be the best we can be. By focusing on the little things when we started our herd is a lot better than trying to fix them later. We have been focusing on raising females that have perfect clean udders with no extra teats, strong udder suspension, appropriate teat size and placement. Cows that are made on a good solid and attractive structure while also possessing the ability to raise progeny that perform in the beef business. With that being said, that is our dream female that we are striving to create a cow herd full of. We are not perfect but we are proud to say that we have built a handful of foundation cow families that possess the traits that we are striving towards. We believe that this group of bulls come from cow families that we believe in and have proven themselves in our operation and are confident that they will prove themselves in your operation as well.

Please come to the farm any day for a tour, coffee is always on and drinks are always cold. On sale day, March 17, we will have hospitality all day at the farm and in the evening we will have a bar and supper as the sale comes to a close. Hope to see you on sale day!

How to Participate in a Farm Gate Timed Auction

After you are at the Farm Gate Timed auction site click the LOGIN/REGISTRATION button.

First time Farm Gate users:

- First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. (please note due to some of the text notification features the Farm Gate Time Auction Site requires a new account separate account from your DLMS Live sale site)

- After you create your Farm Gate account you will receive a txt message with a pin code to verify your account.

- On your first log in to Farm Gate Timed auctions we recommend you go to your profile and confirm your notifications are set to YES. This allows the site to send you text and/or email notifications when you are out bid and if there is activity on your favorite lots.

Returning Farm Gate users:

- If you have used Farm Gate Timed auctions in the past simply enter your user name and password to continue. After you have logged in you are able to browse the timed auctions on DLMS Farm Gate Timed Auctions.

How to Bid in a Timed Auction:

Now that you are logged in and your account phone number / email is verified you are able to bid on an upcoming sale. Simply find the lot you are interested in bidding on. After you have found the lot there are 2 options for bidding on the lot.

- Place Next Bid – to place the next bid on the item, you see the amount in the first box, you simply click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed.

- Max Bid Amount – to place a max bid you put your max bid in the second box listed as “Max Bid” on the item, and then click the “Place Bid” button and after you review the bid and agree to the terms and conditions your bid will be placed as the next bid. With the Max Bid placed the computer will then keep you as the high bidder to the max amount you have placed. This can be a great feature if you are not able to give 100% attention to the sale close out and protect your interest so you do not miss out on any lots you want to purchase. The Max Bid amount is completely confidential from the seller during the sale process.

Example of How the Max Bid Works - If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. Please note that in some cases a lot value can change very quickly if 2 max bids are placed on the same lot competing against each other.

Watch List Feature

If you have items in multiple auctions or only a few from the same auction that you want to watch with out having to scroll through the entire list you can add the lots to your watchlist. On each lot you will see the “eye” button beside the bid button, by clicking this “watchlist” Icon that item is added to your personal watchlist for easy viewing of just your favorite lots in this sale or on the entire site.

Sale Ending / Closeout

Most Farm Gate Timed Auction sales close racehorse style with extended bidding.

What is Racehorse Style Close?

Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.

How will Extended Bidding works?

When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in.

Bidding Close & Follow-up

After the clock has gone to “ENDED” and no bidding has occurred for 5 min the computer will declare the sale finished. Following the close typically within 24 hours of the sale close the sale consignor will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery/Pick up of your lot. Or as the winning bidding you can contact the sale consignor / sale manager to confirm payment instructions.

-Please make sure that your account info is up-to-date and correct if you are the winning bidder of a lot as this is how the billing is sent to Sale manager and/or Sale consignor.

Welcome to the Second 1st Annual Geis Angus Farms Bull Sale. OBI Livestock Ltd. Is very proud to once again be working with the Geis Family on the newest edition of a Bull Sale. This is truly an honor for myself personally as my father, Rob Holowaychuk and Brian Geis were best friends as were our families. Robert Geis and I have been visiting for years now about carrying on the Geis Angus Farms tradition with great knowledge from Brian & Kim. When I go through Geis Angus Farms Bull Sale catalogs, the tradition continues of very powerful bulls with sound feet that travel very freely in the pens. The Angus fraternity always looked to Geis Angus Farms for their bloodlines as they all knew what the cowherd was and is today. We are going to try our best to continue this tradition as a team. The bull pen this year has many herdbull candidates for the purebred operator. The Merit Investment calves are sure to please all. We have some National Flush calves that will command a look or two. Big strapping bulls with that extra rib and shape on them fed in a large pen with athleticism kept in mind. The cows behind these bulls is the key to the operation, you can count on them to keep all the females from this group of bulls. Updated EPD’s and Sale Day Weights and Scrotals will be available as well. Please feel free to call myself, Roger or the Geis Family to discuss the offering. I will be at the farm Sale Day if you need any assistance.

GEIS SHE SAID YES 24’24

We have been high on this bull his entire life, from the day he was born we knew that he was special. Geis 24M‘s mother has raised two heifers that we have sold in the Northern the last two years and this year raised the most complete and well made bulls in the pen. We bought his mother from the famous Merit program’s female sale as a calf. This year we tried some Merit on Merit breeding on her by breeding her to Merit Investment and it did not disappoint. We are selling 100% possession of the bull while retaining 50% semen interest. We are so confident in this bull we are also asking to retain the right to show Geis She Said Yes 24M. The bull will need to be back at Geis Angus June 30, 2025 for us to get him ready for the fall shows. We strongly believe in this Herdsire and want to partner up to promote him down the road for the New Owner. After his 2 year show career is final, the New Owner would get the possession of the bull to stay at his operation in 2027.

Continuing with the Investment sons with one of the most powerful ones. Geis Investment 12’24 or as we call him “Frosty” was born on the coldest day of the year when Northern Alberta was registered as the coldest place on the planet. What he lacks in ear and tail length he makes up for in performance, structure and overall quality. Frosty has already survived being born on the coldest day of the year so he’ll have the resilience and longevity to be an impressive herd sire for you. I’ve never seen a bull use his ears to breed, so don’t judge him on his ears and management’s mistake. Judge him on how impressive this bull is. Geis 47H is a beautiful high performing cow that has a beautiful udder.

GEIS INVESTMENT 27’24

Here is a son of one of my most favourite cows in the herd, Bar-E-L April 35E was a junior project of mine growing up and she hasn’t missed yet. She has created the April cow family here that has been one of the foundation cow families of the second generation of Geis Angus Farm. If you’re looking for a herd sire that has the cow family to back it this is the one that I’d bet on!

One of the most successful flushes that we have had to date was this flush. We are offering one of the most uniform sets of 9 full brothers that we have raised. 174D has been the most influential foundation donor cow in our herd. She has raised us many quality females in our herd as well as the most impactful herdsire we have used in Geis Blackman 80H. This year she has given us 9 full brothers as well as 3 full sisters all just as impressive as the next. We hold all 9 of these bulls to a high regard and am very impressed with each and every one of them. Every one of these bulls has the muscle capacity, bone structure and overall performance to go into any breeding program and succeed. When we look at every animal in this set of flush progeny we are very impressed by the shear width and muscle in these bulls.

GEIS NATIONAL 25’24

Geis 25M is out of another one of our foundation cows, one of the first cows we purchased back in my young breeding years was from Miller Wilson Angus. DMM Blackcap Essence 49D is a strong made cow with excellent udder quality and has raised us bulls and females that are being used in our herd today along with a donor cow who has two sons in this sale as well. Geis 25M was shown at Farmfair International this year and he caught the eye of many people with his performance.

FLUSH BROTHERS

Another pair of flush brothers out of a young cow we raised from the DMM Blackcap Essence cow family and out of our Blackman 80H herd sire. She is a young cow that checks every box that we look for in the females. Udder quality with no extra teats. In this flush she gave us 2 brothers and 3 sisters in our herd. These are two brothers that are much like there ¾ brother 25M with the power, performance and masculinity along with the structural correctness to make a herdsire.

BLACKCAP ESSENCE 49D

This National son is a full brother to a bull that we showed and sold down to Mexico a couple years ago. We bought Bar-E-L Naomi 150H from Dave and Lynn Longshore as a pick of their flush daughters. She is an Alcatraz daughter and is probably one of our strongest milking cows on the farm.

Geis 22M goes back to the Eulima cow family that we acquired from Miller Wilson, we won her at the great calf draft and has raised us a herd bull that we have been using in our commercial herd raising us some high performing steers. Whether it’s herd bulls or replacement females this dam has produced them both here.

Here is another son out of the amazing April cow family, going back to BarE-L April 35E one of the foundational pillars of our herd. Quality runs deep in this cow family and it never missed again on Geis 26M. This bull has the cow family behind him to have a consistently productive future.

SIRE: HF MASTERMIND

Geis 31M goes back to JMM 303C a cow that isn’t the prettiest cow in the pen but she is a bull maker. She has the power and performance to make a herd bull that will fill your steer pen with quality beef, we are in the beef business after all.

Heifer bull approved!! This bull is out of one of our up and coming donor cows. Geis 27K is one of my favourite young cows, she is a cow that has perfect udder quality with no extra teats which is something that we are really fussy on here. She is a cow that we are going to flush this next spring. Being a direct Kodiak 5R son out of a first calf heifer this bull has heifer bull written all over him. When you see him in the pen you’ll think this isn’t a heifer bull based on how much shear power and performance this bull carries. But when you look at how complete this bull is made and who he comes from you’d trust him just like we would.

KBJ 6M goes back to Jim’s favourite cow that he bought from Atlasta Angus a couple years ago. KBJ 104K is another up and coming female in Jims herd, this Bull is heifer approved!!

Geis 44M is the twin off of one of my favourite cows, Geis 31H comes from the Pollyanna cow family that we got from Young Dale Angus a number of years ago. The Pollyanna cow family has been one of our foundation families here. Geis 44M’s sire Geis 16K is one of our favourite up and coming herdsires out of Sitz Major

Geis 67M is a very attractive young bull that is out of a very nice young and coming cow in our herd that has a perfect udder. Here on Geis Angus we really focus on the quality of feet and udder and Geis 44J is a perfect example of feet and udders.

Geis 57M goes back to the Pollyanna cow family, from the original cow that we bought from Young Dale Angus and again has developed a very good cow family here.
