Sight Unseen Purchase We are here to sell you the right bull for your program. We believe you need to see for yourself the animals we have on display. However, if you cannot make it to view the animals before sale time, please contact any of the above sale day numbers and we will find an animal that fits your needs and budget to the best of our ability. All information is kept confidential.

Fertility All bulls are semen tested and the scrotal measurements are taken before sale day by a certified veterinarian and will be provided on sale day. Any bulls who are decision deffered will be noted and presented up front before sale time.

Terms of Sale Payment is required in canadian dollars via cash or cheque. All invoices must be settled before delivery of animal unless prior arrangements are made. All bulls are sold under the Canadian Angus Association standard terms and conditions. In all cases the seller is not responsible for more than what the animal sold for. OBI Livestock Ltd. will be sending out the invoices after the sale is completed.

Delivery We are offering free delivery within 300 km of farm, anything over 300 km will require futher arrangemnets. We will hold the animals free of charge until April 15th, after such date the amount of $3.00/day will be charged until delivery or pick up is made. Any animals staying at the farms must be insured. If you pick up your animal within a week of sale day, we are offering $100 dollar refund of your animal purchased.

Welcome to our 3rd annual bull sale. It has been a great year to be part of the cattle business here in central Alberta. Record high market prices remain strong going into 2024 and as I write this the bull sale season is just getting underway. Our partners, Lucky 7 Cattle Co, have been great to work with and together we have an exciting set of bulls on offer.

We have had a few challenges in the last while with a cold spell that was like no other that I can recall in my lifetime. I’m thankful for my family and the fact that it was short lived, we made it through with minimal issues. Calving 2024 has been one of the best seasons we have ever had, with the end of calving already in sight...which means it’s time to focus on the BULLS! We have an exceptional pen on offer that have been managed on a new feeding program which has had exciting results. These bulls have been fed to allow growth and development to happen through time. Be confident in what you see in the following pages.

Cudlobe Growth Fund 20J was the high selling bull at Real Bulls for Real Cowboys Bull Sale in Dec of 2021. His Deer Valley Growth Fund sire leads the purebred industry in registered calves in North America in 2023. The son we own “Cuddy” as we affectionately call him has eleven EPD’s in the top 10% of the entire industry. I challenge you to find another. Cuddy’s calves have made a steady incline to the top of the pen and we are super excited about his up and coming daughters as well. We had way more heifers than bulls so there are only the two to pick from. This is an awesome pair that will be highly anticipated.

In 2022 I had a chat with Dennis Serhienko Beef Sire Acquisition Manager for Semex. One of the bulls Dennis recommended was Brutus. A very exciting and highly regarded sire that had entered Semex stud line up. Backed by a highly maternal cow family with two of the most influential cows in Angus history.

Baldridge IsabelY69 and S A V Blackcap May 4136 who combined progeny sales have totalled millions in revenue and still continue to do so today. We purchased embryos form our good friends at Pedersen Livestock a few years back. These two calves are sired by Bar E-L Natural Law 52Y. His semen has become one of the most sought after in all of Canada. Recent Frozen Genetic sales have sold Natural Law for Between $1100 and $1500 PER STRAW! follows is to develop the animal’s frame and muscling. Feed and water test results are used in calculating a balanced ration. Rations are adjusted at 100-pound increments from weaning to sale weight. Mother nature continues to prove she can be a cruel mistress with the polar vortex a few weeks ago to the extremely dry conditions going into last spring/ summer. Fortunately, some timely rains brought on the pastures and an unreal crop of oats we were able to get put up for greenfeed. On labour day we weaned off our heaviest set of bulls yet who thrived over summer on nothing but hard grass and mama’s milk.

The bulls have been developed on free choice hay, oat greenfeed, 16% Beef Ration OR pellet and MooGoo 30% mineral tubs from Country Junction Feeds. We have always fed our bulls to challenge their genetics for weight gains but keep them in athletic form. The heifers stem from our most productive cow families and if they weren’t in the sale, we would be breeding them to keep.

They have been developed on free choice hay, 16% Beef Ration OR and MooGoo 30% mineral tubs from Country Junction feeds as well.

The annual open house will once again be at the farm on March 3 all day with viewing of the offering plus coffee and refreshments. We welcome you to come out and go through the offering and cowherd anytime before the sale closeout on March 5.
