KE Atún | La Almadraba con una edad media de 14 años, evitando ocasionar daños a la población de cetáceos. El ritual salado se repite cada año entre abril y junio. La campaña comienza dos meses antes con el calamento, cuando los almadraberos preparan el armazón de cables flotantes en la superficie y fijado al fondo con anclas que permiten la verticalidad del laberinto de redes. Un prefacio al que sigue la pesca en sí
misma, donde el número de capturas varía en función de la limpieza, la transparencia y la temperatura de las aguas, las fases lunares, las mareas, los vientos… entre otros factores. Para terminar con la leva, cuando se retiran de la mar todos los enseres que serán reparados durante los siguientes meses para su adecuada conservación en vistas a la próxima inmersión. Silencio de la especie El atún y el sector almadrabero viene padeciendo desde hace años las consecuencias de una proliferación descontrolada de la pesca ilegal y de cerco practicada por las grandes industrias. Con el fin de exportar el codiciado producto al mercado japonés, los límites se han visto trasvasados, produciéndose una sobrepesca 46
