We do offer customized packages, because each couple is unique there is no most popular choice. But couples do enjoy having one stop for all their wedding needs and not having to worry about renting tables and finding bar services!

Our carving station is by far the most popular menu item we sell, for drinks every couple loves making their own signature cocktail to match their wedding!

We unfortunately do not have a bridal suite but do work with surrounding hotels that offer that service.

The Penthouse does fill up, but we

can take any couples that wanted to book in advance several years or if they had a change in the previous plans we can accommodate weddings within three months

FIG HOLLOW BARN

Fig Hollow Barn has a rich history as a former horse-riding arena—how does that past add to the charm and character of weddings held here? Yes! It is crazy to realize how many people boarded their horse or took lessons on the property. I’ll be out in public and somebody in their 60’s or 70’s may come up to me or a guest attending a wedding to share that when they were a child or a teenager, their horse was in stall number seven. It’s very nostalgic for them to be there. The barn was built in 1960 and it sits on 40 acres. There’s a drumlin on the back property. And I’m not sure why, but someone a very long time ago planted two rows of blue spruce trees about 40 feet across from one another to make this incredible space. In fact, most of our bridal couples get married in that area. We call it, “the Hollow”. I feel like it’s nature’s way of making the most beautiful organic cathedral. It’s intimate while being outside.

Hollow Barn boasts a 60-foot-wide glass back wall—how does this feature enhance the wedding experience?

Fig Hollow barn has 60 feet of glass on the backside that opens up entirely to the ceiling. The doors open with the profile of the barn and so they seem to disappear when they’re open. We only host events from spring till fall and it’s incredible the amount of natural light that comes into the space. I’ve had many photographers tell me that this is one of

where chickens or goats were held create great images in the background and like I said, there’s the rock foundation of an old barn. There are 27 horse stalls on the property and the middle hallway is only used by the photographer and the bridal couple. With the runway lights along each side, it reminds me of the front of the Eastman theater. Again, those linear lines make for incredible photos. And it’s always amazing to me to see how photographers interpret a space differently.

That’s a very difficult aesthetic to achieve in the vast openness with the sky above. And there are many remnants from the days when there were probably over 40 horses on the property. There are interesting old out buildings that make perfect backdrops for photographers. There’s a foundation of an old barn that seems to be very popular for photos. The outdoor riding paddock and the wood fencing make a really cool linear angle in photos also. And the side field during golden hour is absolutely majestic.

The venue sits on 40 acres of scenic farmland—what are some of the most breathtaking views couples and guests can enjoy?

There are so many different areas at Fig Hollow barn that are beautiful. It is a working barn, so the fields are off and planted with hay. When there’s a breeze, the grasses sway and it makes beautiful video footage. The older outbuildings

Sustainability is an important factor for many couples. Can you tell us more about how Fig Hollow Barn is 100% carbon neutral and powered by solar energy?

It was very important to us when we were approaching this concept of Fig Hollow Barn, and truly our other businesses - of what our impact is on our community in our world. We chose to have solar panels provided on top of the barn, which provide electricity to our wedding barn, our house, and our shop. We only host events late spring through the fall, so the barn produces more energy that it uses. We want to be good stewards for our property and our community!

What makes Fig Hollow Barn a stand out venue for a couples looking for a rustic yet elegant wedding experience. I think one of the coolest things about our barn is the ability to have a bridal couples party altogether. Often times you’ll see venues where the bar is separated

from the dance floor. We focus more on smaller gatherings, and we have the ability to curate three different lounge vignettes. What’s great about that is sometimes when you have people who don’t particularly like to dance, even though the Chivari chairs around the tables are very comfortable, if you sit in them for five or six hours, they may not be. For those people attending your wedding who may not be the partier or the dancers, they have options that are very comfortable. There’s four different areas, with two different loveseats, and multiple wingback chairs that are comfortable, cushioned areas for them to be able to sit down and have conversation with other family while still being able to see the dance floor and be part of the wedding. I will share with our bridal couples that this is the most expensive party they’ll probably ever put on and you want your guests to stay as long as possible. We provide that service. All of the beautiful furniture, tables, and Chiavari chairs are included in the price of hosting an event at our wedding barn. What’s nice is that people do not have to add to their budget to create the ambiance they see when they enter our space visiting.

your wedding day is safe and accessible for everyone. We have ADA bathrooms, the floor plan is all one level. In barns, you want to make sure they have the required battery powered lights, the correct emergency exit lights, and very large doors with the correct hardware for exiting the building.

How does your team help couples customize their wedding to reflect their unique style and personality?

personality to the ceremony and it was so beautiful. We had another couple who own a dairy farm. I suggested that they bring one of their cows and they did. In fact, she was part of the wedding ceremony. A third example, we had a couple whose family host an annual Halloween haunted hayride. It’s something the family has done for years and years. They ended up bringing two 15 foot tall skeletons dressed as a groom and a bride, and it anchored the entranceway for the party. It certainly set the stage for the celebration.

We also have some nice artistic touches… such as an old grain bin that has been converted into the bar, and an old 1940 Hudson that is often parked by the flagpole. These are great photo ops and gives the whole place an interesting vibe. This may be a boring part of planning a barn wedding, but you want to make sure

This is a fun one. We meet with our bridal couples two months prior to their wedding and go through a list of questions that are beyond just, what colors are you choosing, how long will your wedding ceremony be? I ask questions such as what are their hobbies, what do they like to do with each other? What are the unique things that make them who they are? I will make suggestions on ways to incorporate that into the day. For example, we had one couple and they both loved motorcycles. I came up with the idea of anchoring the wedding arbor on both sides with their motorcycles. It truly brought their

Since we have 40 acres and the backdrop is always changing, there’s always something beautiful to see. In the spring, it almost feels like a Disney movie because there’s many bunnies in the field. There’s also a tremendous amount of blue birds, cardinals and blue jays, not to mention the deer that are often grazing on the drumlin hillside. If a couple is looking to bring more of an organic feel to their space versus traditional party reception architecture, this is the place. The fall, with the changing of the leaves, provides an incredible, colorful, backdrop of red, orange and yellow. It’s Mother Nature at her finest.

Since fig hollow barn is not climate controlled. How do you help couples and guests stay comfortable during warmer or cooler months?

colder months, it has never been a problem. In the warmer months, the vast width of 60 feet of glass doors is perfect for helping keep the barn comfortable and cool. We also have your typical large barn fans to keep the air moving. When autumn nights turn a little chilly, we have standup propane heaters that provide extra warmth.

Your back wall of glass can fully open to let the outside in – how does this feature transform, weddings and receptions?

It is amazing to be sitting at a dining table with fancy table settings and centerpieces, and then glance over and see meadows and hillsides full of nature, even when the glass doors are closed. This is a one-of-a-kind feature that you won’t find anywhere else!

With a flower farm in development and Airbnb’s, how do you see it enhancing future weddings at Fig Hollow?

Our Airbnb‘s are going to make the experience of having a wedding at Fig Hollow Barn so much more. One is located on the barn’s property and the other is 1 mile down the road and it sits on 9 acres. The home a mile away, is 4200 ft.² with 7 bedrooms. The 9 acres that Airbnb sits on were previously farm land and this is where we’re going to be designing and creating a colorful flower garden which will be perfect for wedding photos too. There is already the foundation of a Victorian flower garden that we are resurrecting. The flower gardens will only enhance photo opportunities. Many times couples need to go to multiple sites in order to achieve their photo dreams. However, at Fig Hollow Barn we have many

different, really cool photo shot areas opportunities and that saves the bridal couple valuable time. On the day of your wedding, the clock is ticking. I often tell people it’s probably the most expensive party you will ever host and that you will not be at for portions of time. Fig Hollow Barn and our other amenities allow you to achieve all of your dreams when it comes to photos, but also expedites getting you back to the most important part…..enjoying your wedding day and being part of the party.

Do you offer outdoor ceremony options on your expansive 40 acre property? If so, what are some of your favorite spots couples have chosen? We do offer a few areas for couples to choose from but I would say 99% of our bridal couples have their ceremony under the branches of the 50-year-old spruce trees. Their branches make this incredible canopy that I like to describe as an outdoor, intimate cathedral that mother nature created. Otherwise, couples may choose to have their ceremony on the back lawn behind the glass doors looking out over the farm field into trees. It’s open and expansive. We always supply the white ceremony chairs and set them up and remove them after the ceremony. This is not an added cost and nor do the chairs need to be rented.

Everything is inclusive and I believe this is very helpful for our couples. Especially when planning their budget. It’s not like they need to take into account the cost of the venue and then renting lounge furniture, or ceremony chairs or whiskey, barrels or the arbor. We provide everything – including card

boxes, signage, wooden lanterns for tabletops, and more.

Beyond weddings, Fig Hollow, barn, host, markets, concerts, retreats

Hey Kelly, we have not implemented this yet, can I skip question 12? That may be down the road, but at this point I’d rather not go into it.

Can couples bring in their own vendors or do you offer preferred partnerships with caterers, florist and planners?

Because Fig Hollow Barn has an expectation of a certain level of quality for the experience of the day, we have partnered with three different caterers who specialize in different areas and level of cost. We have found that building that relationship allows for the most seamless, high-quality service delivered to our couples. Our preferred caterers understand what our expectations are and because they want to maintain our business relationship, they will outperform.

Florist, photographers, wedding planners, and bakeries are open to the choice of the bridal couple, however. I believe flowers and especially dessert vary significantly regarding taste and budget. Also, I wanted to keep these options open for the couple since not all bridal couples choose to have a planner. And when it comes to dessert, things are very untraditional now. Sometimes it might be just a doughnut buffet with fruit, otherwise some couples choose they have all mini pies, or some may have a huge spread of cookie cakes and the big traditional wedding cake. It’s always fun to see the personality of a couple come out in these ways.

What advice do you have for couples planning a barn wedding who may be new to the idea of a more rustic setting?

I would definitely suggest for couples to go and visit different venues. Looking at photos on Instagram or Facebook is great, especially if starting to plan during the winter months when most barns are closed. I strongly suggest making a list and compare the amenities that each barn venue offers and what’s included in the base cost. Take into account the amount of natural light, photo opportunities and ease of accessibility for your guest. For example, we have built in bathrooms. I know that seems sort of strange to say, but it’s very important if you happen to

get a day that mother nature is not very kind and it rains. You may not want your guests having to use umbrellas to go outside.

Having good airflow in a barn for a warm day is critical. Sometimes old barns are beautiful, but stuffy.

Can you share a favorite wedding story from Fig Hollow Barn that truly captures the magic of the venue?

Oh my goodness, this is a tough question because there have been so many! We had a couple bring a calf named Denali, motorcycles, and llamas that were dressed as a bride and groom…but I think our

favorite memory was a brightly colored hot air balloon that was tethered on the back lawn right outside the glass doors. Lit up against the evening sky and hearing the sound of the flame to keep the balloon filled was breath taking. It absolutely made for magical photos.

Background & Career

Can you share a bit about your journey as a musician and how you developed your passion for piano, composition, and music theory?

I received my Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in piano performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music. I studied music performance, music theory and analysis from the youngest age. As a composition and music theory student at Karol Szymanowski University of Music in Katowice and University at Buffalo (PhD program) I studied European and American compositional techniques of the 20th and 21st centuries.

As a participant of summer programs in Poland, Czech Republic, Austria and the United States I was introduced to improvisation, string piano, prepared piano, post-minimalism and modern ballet music. I had the opportunity to play piano in the orchestras at the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, the Chautauqua Institution and the Eastman School of Music. All these experiences and in-depth exposure to classical piano repertoire provided a complex mesh of diverse influences on who I am today and how I deliver my musical messages. My amazing Mom Alicja Golec, who also is an accomplished and highly regarded music educator, was the initial inspiration and catalyst of my journey. She noticed I had a good ear at an early age. We later discovered that I had perfect pitch which was very

helpful in my music classes and for transcribing music. My appreciation for the amazing field of music came at age 10. At that point I knew I would pursue advanced degrees in music. I had interest in piano, theory, composition, improvisation, and conducting.

You’ve had an incredible career, from winning international piano competitions to performing at Carnegie Hall. What have been some of your most memorable performances?

My recent faculty recital which I presented at SUNY Geneseo was one of the most inspiring, uplifting and fun performances I designed and participated in. It was an exciting and fulfilling collaboration with local photographers and my university students.

We had a plan for a piano concert with the photographers before the pandemic. So, the idea was not brand new. I revisited this concept at the beginning of 2024 and shared it with my longtime friend Gil Maker who was one of the photographers involved in this project.

The installations provided a visual interpretation of my compositions. The audience members listened to the music and watched the projected series of images simultaneously. The listeners received the background on my inspiration and story behind each piece and then heard the description and reasoning for each image interpretation. I discussed my musical landscape, compositional techniques, and emotional content of each piece (before performing). I provided the explanation of each photographer’s image interpretations (after performing). The photographers were not provided with the composer’s program notes and their interpretations were based solely on the soundscape of each musical piece. As a prelude to the concert, we had a recording of my Balbutiendo Piano looping through the sound system as the audience members were arriving. Balbutiendo Piano (which means Stuttering Piano) was a collaborative project I completed with Ed Hallborg a few years back. It is a semi-minimal looping improvisation triptych recorded in Doty Hall. The Steinway piano was processed and manipulated through electronic filtering equipment in “real-time” and fed back to me via headphones. I then responded to it while the equipment was playing the next sequence. I created all musical material on- the-spot since it was an improvisation.

As the founder of Golec Music Studio, you offer a wide range of music services. What inspired you to create your own studio, and what sets it apart from others?

I truly enjoy being a business owner, creating my own schedule and my professional path. This kind of independence is very freeing and inspiring, yet it comes with a great deal of responsibility, planning, networking, strategizing and thinking ahead.

My studio is unique as it addresses diverse needs of our community – from piano, voice, theory, analysis and composition lessons, masterclasses, hands-on skills for new music educators, through preparation for Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams, graduate school auditions, competitions, productions, job interviews, to weddings, religious celebrations, corporate events, fundraising concerts, as well as holiday and private parties. My skills and workrelated experience provide a versatile and well-rounded experience for all my students and clients. I accept students who are 3+ years old, while most instructors do not. I have the in-depth understanding

How did you become involved in performing for weddings, and what do you love most about being part of a couple’s special day?

Golec Music Studio is open year-round, and all my services are offered during the school breaks. This, I believe sets me apart from other schools. Winter break and the summer season are great opportunities to advance one’s skills and to stay in shape. The continuity of music education is a critical factor in retaining one’s abilities, in targeting specific knowledge and skills, and in getting a head start before the new school year begins.

I started performing weddings about twenty years ago when I was a student. Over the years, I played ceremonies and cocktail hours at several local churches, hotels, wedding venues and county clubs. I love working with the wedding planners, coordinators and officiants. I truly enjoy learning about the couple and their feelings for one another. I love the intimacy of the wedding ceremony and seeing the happy tears (brides, grooms, parents and other guests). Most of the time I am seated by the altar where I can see the buildup of the emotions as the ceremony progresses. It is incredible and very moving!

What role do you believe live music plays in creating a magical and unforgettable wedding atmosphere? I truly believe that music sets the tone of the event. Thoughtfully and skillfully selected compositions support the emotional expression of the wedding. Live music provides a multisensory experience to the participants including the visual, aural and interactional aspects of the performance which cannot be replaced by prerecorded music.

What are some of the most requested songs or compositions that couples ask you to play during their ceremonies or receptions?

Prelude in C Major by Johann Sebastian Bach, Ave Maria by Franz Schubert and Ode to Joy by Ludwig van Beethoven have been very popular choices in the past seasons. I really enjoy moving away from heavy, march-like music towards lighter and more dream-like choices. This has been the trend of the past few seasons, and I fully embrace it. I love gentle and ethereal music.

Do you offer customized music arrangements for couples who want a unique, personal touch for their wedding day?

Absolutely! I am happy to perform any traditional, modern or unique selections that are suitable for a wedding celebration. I am available to compose music for the engaged couples. My recommendation is to schedule a wedding consultation at least three months before the wedding day to secure my services and to plan a detailed music program for the special day.

What inspired you to become a wedding planner, and what do you love most about working with couples on their big day?

Growing up I have always had a passion for planning and bringing people together. In my opinion, anything large or small should be celebrated! Ask my daughters, Khloe and Farabe, I have made it a point to make each of their birthdays fun and unique, some would say a bit over the top! Lol I can’t help it, I’m a mom and a planner!

Having a diverse background in planning, weddings actually came later on. I was focused on community events, corporate gatherings, baby/ bridal showers, and such early on. However, when weddings became more of a focus. I absolutely love love so it was a no brainer! I didn’t have a planner for my wedding an regretted it for years following! I would say my favorite part of working with couples on their special day is close tie between their story and the looks on their faces when it all comes together.

In addition to our planning check ins, and the use of this platform, we are available for communication when the couples need us most. So many couples build their dream day with photos of inspiration from various websites and without knowing the investment required for those specific things can be discouraging when the planning process begins. With a planner, we can guide and direct accordingly. We recommend vendors within their price point to keep them grounded. We also have a tool that gives suggestions as to if they spend x amount on one vendor, what it suggests for others. Being able to play with the numbers on the front end helps avoid going over what our couples have to invest. Sometimes hard conversations have to be had and they appreciate that in the end. At the end of the day we want their day to be just that, their day, so we share our expertise and resources to get them to or as close to that as possible.

Personalization & Design

How do you ensure that a wedding truly reflects the couple’s unique personalities and love story?

This is my favorite part of all weddings and events! From our very first consult call to the last interaction, we are noting the details. We ask a ton of questions and get to know our clients throughout the planning process. Along the way we take little nuggets that we can incorporate into the day to make it that much more special. We truly love connecting with our couples and want to help them as much as they will allow us to! Whether that means personal surprise touches, scooping rogue ring bearers from ceremony and making flower girls our assistants during line up, to sending candids of special moments to them the

night of the wedding while they’re at the afterparty. We want to share with them how their love story looked from our perspective…pure magic. And yes, my team cries…a lot! We come equipped with our own custom tissues! Lol

What are some of the most creative or unique wedding themes you’ve helped bring to life?

We love the different cultural events we get to be a part of! The colors are so vibrant and the traditions are so beautiful! We have had so many memorable events it’s really hard to choose but I will say that being selected for Wish Upon a Wedding was an amazing experience and our couple, Rochester locals, were so sweet! There wasn’t a dry eye!

Another that comes to mind was a 70th birthday celebration for an amazing woman who has given so much to so many and was awarded a day named after her at the event! Again, tears were shed! It’s moments like that we are so grateful we get to meet and be a part of the lives of so many, even if only for a brief period of time.

Are there any exciting wedding trends you’re seeing for 2024-2025 that couples should consider incorporating into their big day?

We have noticed some trends that are becoming more popular are hometown “destination” wedding weekendsespecially in the Finger Lakes, that include group activities, Late Night Bites and take out boxes are still going strong, drapery is on quite a few of our lists this season, so romantic - love this, wedding painters/guest experiences, Traditional Cakes are making a comeback in a BIG way, film photography requests have

also increased. It honestly feels like so much is evolving in the wedding scene, this season we have quite a few without a wedding party and we haven’t seen a bouquet toss or a garter toss in a hot minute - thank goodness! However, we strongly believe that any couples’ big day should reflect them and look exactly as they want it to.

Advice & Final Touches

What advice do you have for brides who are feeling overwhelmed with all the details and decisions?

My advice to all couples is to take a deep breath, communicate with your significant other and your families to determine your investment then start interviewing planners. Our sole purpose is to help you avoid feeling overwhelmed. We come equipped with experience, contacts, checklists, creative partners, ways to save you money, and so much more!

We want you to look back and say I’m so happy we did that, they allowed us to be present, have fun, and make some amazing memories!

What is one thing couples often overlook when planning their wedding that can make a big difference in the overall experience?

Often overlooked is timeframe. Amazing vendors book out, some years, so waiting until the last minute may result in losing someone you’ve had your eye on to do your wedding. Can you tell us about the history of Chef’s Event Center & Party House and what inspired its creation? It was our ultimate goal to have our catering, food trucks and a beautiful venue all in one. We started with catering small events and then added food trucks and final moved to our forever home in Spencerport at Chef’s Event Center

How do you handle unexpected challenges on the wedding day to

ensure a seamless experience for the couple and their guests?

We do not let the guest or client know about a challenge on the day of the event unless it is absolutely necessary. We are professionals and that is why they hired us for their wedding and/or event. We are there to fix any problems that arise and to take the stress away from the client.

Are there specific wedding trends you’ve seen growing in popularity, and how does your venue accommodate them? We can really accomodate any trend at our venue. Our team is very versatile, but

really there are no trends more popular than others right now, everything is pretty much even at this point.

What is your favorite part of hosting weddings at Chef’s Party House, and what keeps you passionate about creating these special events?

Working with different clients and different styles is always fun! Seeing their visions come to life and everyones different way of expressing themselvse and decorating is something we love. seeing the looks on their faces when their vision comes to life is also one of the best parts.?

We’re Paige and Dakota Wong, a husband and wife team of wedding planners & coordinators serving all of Upstate NY. Inspired by the process of planning our own wedding, we decided to take what was a passion project and use our talents to help other couples planning their big day Ever since, we’ve been hard at work bringing our couples visions to life!

Our name is inspired by our two yellow labs, Odin & Gus, AKA our office assistants & quality control officers We’ll be forever be covered in yellow fur, but we wouldn’t have it any other way!

What sets us apart? We include full access to our rental inventory in every package, at NO ADDED COST to our couples! We’re experienced and dedicated to our craft, we treat every event like it’s our own!
