INTRODUCTION
K
ellett School was founded in 1976 and what started as a small school with just two classes has evolved to become an international school with wide curriculum breadth and high academic standards spanning both Preparatory and Senior level schooling. Kellett School today enjoys a reputation as one of the leading British International schools in Asia. In celebrating Kellett School’s 40th Anniversary we pay tribute to the shared vision of the founding parents who came together to shape their children’s education and future potential. Now as then, the students remain at the very heart of all school decisions and the Kellett Community continues to invest time, energy, finances and talent to empower students to achieve their personal best, both academically and personally. Kellett School launched its first Annual Fund in 2012. The community’s support of all four Annual Fund campaigns to date has had a hugely positive impact
across the school, making possible a wide range of enhancements to broaden the educational experiences for our students. Evolving possibilities for all Kellett students is central to our mission of engendering a love of learning and confidence for life. This year’s Annual Fund continues to advance the legacy of the founding parents by seeking to enrich the educational experience and support the students in their journey towards achieving personal excellence, building transferrable skills and developing a global outlook. Kellett School invites you to support the Annual Fund. A gift to the Annual Fund is an investment in over 1300 students. No gift is too small. Every gift is important and every gift makes a difference.
ANNUAL FUND ASPIRATIONS Kellett School hopes donations made to the Annual Fund will see a return on investment as follows: An elevated educational experience that results in greater engagement in learning, increased knowledge and the insight to build upon, improve and apply that knowledge appropriately The advancement of personal values to promote confident, well rounded students who relish the responsibility of being lifelong contributors to society The development of Kellett School’s local and international reputation as a feeder school to highly regarded universities worldwide The fostering of a culture of philanthropy within Kellett School to benefit current and future students and the whole Kellett Community
OUR GOALS Our primary goal is to broaden the support for the Annual Fund, building on the participation rates achieved in previous years. We would also like to match, if not exceed the amount raised in the 2015-16 academic year. Kellett School is a not-for-profit organisation. All operating costs are funded through school fees whilst debenture income assists in meeting capital costs. Last year the Annual Fund delivered an additional HK$2,414,211 for enhancement programmes across the school. Similarly, this year, the Annual Fund seeks to augment the Education Expenses budget to fund the enhancements identified in the 2016-17 Priority List.

W
ith the support of parents, teachers and the Kellett Community, the Annual Fund seeks to fund extraordinary learning enhancement experiences and resources so that all students, from Reception to Year 13, are encouraged and empowered to achieve their full potential, both educationally and personally. The bids received from across the school have been prioritised and are listed below in the order in which it is hoped, based on donations received, that enhancements will be realised. The priorities for the 2016-17 Annual Fund will be funded in the following order:
Priority 1: Music & the Arts Kellett School has always nurtured opportunities for students to engage in music & the arts, through band, chorus, dance, drama, performance, art, design and the writing of original literary pieces. As well as providing a means of expression and creativity, there are many associated, documented links to a student’s development within the sciences, maths and the natural world. A Multi-Disciplinary Expert in Residence Programme
Experts help bring learning to life, exposing students to contemporary practices and thinking. A multi-faceted residency programme encourages students to understand the role of a wide variety of performing, creative and visual art disciplines in contemporary society and to think critically about their role in education and daily life. Kellett School wishes to engage a number of experts
to enrich students’ appreciation and learning in music (instrumental and vocal), drama, art, and design technology through workshops, classes, lectures, discussions, rehearsals, performances, and collaborative projects.
Priority 2: Academic Enhancement Kellett School believes that enabling students to experience education in a wider context cultivates their understanding of the greater possibilities that regular school learning underpins and promotes a lifelong love of learning. Cooking offers children a variety of learning experiences. It is a practical way to teach young students about healthy eating habits and an adventurous palate. It also involves
academic skills such as reading, language development and basic science and maths concepts. Together with funds allocated from the Parents’ Committee, Kellett School wishes, through the Annual Fund, to fully modernise, update and refurbish the Cookery Room at the Pok Fu Lam Campus to nurture the talents of our students. Visiting Linguists in European Languages
Linguistic immersion helps students to listen to and understand nativespeakers, to naturally expand their vocabulary, and to improve their understanding of the target language culture. The Senior School wishes to offer a series of cultural language immersion sessions in French, Spanish and German to students in Years 8 and 9.
Learning Technology Resources
Sometimes a single view of the world is not enough to tell the full story! Enabling students to create images through the ‘all seeing eye’ of a 360 degree camera in the classroom, on field trips and other learning environments will help expand discussion and investigative learning and can be used in displays and on YouTube. Kellett School would like to purchase 360 degree cameras for these learning purposes across the whole school, and provide training to staff.
Priority 3: Student Leadership Kellett School seeks to motivate students to be inspired by the world around them, to take the initiative to change the status quo and to understand the importance of resilience and teamwork to prompt all our students to have the confidence to become the best leader they can be. Kellett School wishes to continue to invite individuals to the school who have overcome obstacles or displayed dedication and determination to make their story a reality. The immediacy of the speaker encourages students to
probe the motivation for the guest’s ambition, dedication and success and inspires students in many different ways. Funds will permit Kellett School to book a diverse range of suitable speakers and to ‘hook’ guests opportunistically.
Priority 4: Sports Sporting challenges have always played a key role at Kellett School aiming to promote sportsmanship, develop motor skills and nurture the benefits of practice, persistence and patience. Enhancing Kellett School Cricket
The sport of cricket offers many benefits. Every player learns that maintaining good physical and mental health to sustain stamina and concentration for the duration of a cricket match is crucial and cooperation and communication within the team can win a match. Bowling, batting and catching the ball encourage the development of gross motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Kellett School would like to create greater opportunity for students to engage with the game of cricket within school, through the installation of cricket nets for training at the Kowloon Bay campus and by providing opportunities for students to meet, engage with and
learn from inspirational figures from the world of cricket.
Priority 5: Leaders in Learning Kellett School promotes staff development programmes to enrich the individual’s growth, support the delivery of the most up-to-date pedagogy and help develop the school’s intellectual repository. Staff Development Courses
To inspire a multi-faceted, tangential delivery of the curriculum to benefit all the students, Kellett School would like to encourage staff to participate in extraordinary training courses around the world. Due to their unique nature these courses tend to be outside the remit of the normal Continuing Professional Development budget and are normally residential in style, often taking place in known school holiday periods.

Due to the extraordinary generosity of the Kellett community during the 2015-16 Annual Fund, the total donation amount received exceeded the budget for the chosen projects. This has allowed the introduction of rolling funds for the Guest Speaker and Leaders in Learning Programmes, enabling greater flexibility and choice of inspirational speakers and aspirational courses.
WAYS OF GIVING To donate please complete the Giving Form enclosed in the pocket opposite and return it to the Development Office together with your donation. The Giving Form is also available on the school website and at the Main Reception desks of both campuses. All charitable donations above HK$100 are tax deductible. Kellett School will issue an official receipt within five working days of a receipt of a donation, which may be submitted to Hong Kong Inland Revenue for the purpose of determining Hong Kong Income Tax.
