生徒ボランティアによる補習授業（ピアチューター活動

「半学半教」は慶應ニューヨーク学院の教育哲 学の中でも重要な部分を占めるといえます。これ は、教える者も教わる者も共に学問を追究するとい う理念です。この理念は、25年間以上カウンセリ ング室で行われているピアチューターに反映されて います。このシステムでは学習支援を求める生徒 たちのためにピアチューターが１対１の学習指導 を行っています。2019-2020年度は様々な教科を 教える総勢32名のピアチューターがいました。リク エストが多い教科については複数のピアチューター が小グループ単位で、後輩たちに教えることもあり ました。このシステムを通し、年間延べ約1000名の 生徒が、教科学習の支援を受け、大きな成果を出し ています。

Peer Tutoring

The concept of “Half Learning, Half Teaching” is an important component of the educational philosophy at Keio Academy of New York. This time-tested tradition at Keio Gijuku states that those who learn first will teach the rest. Administered by the Counseling Department, this tradition is over 25 years old and is defined by a system where peer tutors provide one–on-one academic guidance for students requesting assistance. For the 2019-2020 school year, there were a total of 32 peer tutors for a variety of subjects. In high volume subject areas, multiple peer tutors were deployed to help small groups of underclassmen. Throughout the year, it is typical for the Counseling Department to receive approximately 1,000 requests for assistance, resulting in a hugely successful program!
