慶應義塾ニューヨーク学院（高等部）「道」第4号が完成致しました。 2019-2020年を迎えるにあたり、今年度が新時代の幕開けであると発表でき ることを嬉しく思います。生徒達が、慶應義塾大学や、その他の一流大学で力を 発揮できるよう、教育的経験を強化するための一連の大改革を行ってまいりま す。この建設的な改革の目的は、学院生活全般に於いて教職員が生徒達に､き め細かな指導を行うことにあります。 中でも、寮生活の再編成が主眼の一つです。今年度から、寮はレジデントアドバイザーとヘッドに指 導、育成される“ハウス”に分けられます。このハウスシステムは、寄宿生活をするうえでの最も重要なも のとなるでしょう。生徒たちは、学業、クラブ活動や人との関わり、ハウスでの活動等を通して、お互い に尊重し、助け合いながら、コミュニティーを築いていくわけです。もちろん、教育改革をすることも当 学院を改善する重要課題です。この改革は、慶應義塾大学進学に必要な学力を身につけさせながら、 特に英語力の向上を最優先にしたものです。 今年度から数年にかけて行う改革は、学院の更なる向上の為であること、また、掲載している数々の イベントや活動の一部を「道」第４号を通し紹介することにより、学院のユニークさや、素晴らしさを皆 様にご理解頂ければ幸いです。今後とも、ご支援を賜りますようお願い申し上げます。

Our School Journal

Greetings! Welcome to the fourth edition of the school journal, “Keio Academy: A Day in the Life.” With the arrival of the 2019-2020 academic year, I am pleased to announce a new era. This year will witness a range of bold reforms that are designed to strengthen the students’ educational experience, while presenting a pathway that will prepare all for success at Keio University and other elite institutions.

The purpose of these positive changes is to provide pastoral care throughout the academy’s community. One of the centerpieces of this reorganization is the residential system. Commencing this year, the residence halls will be divided into houses that are nurtured by a Resident Advisor and Head of House. These houses will become the focal point of the boarding school experience. Students will forge a community that respects and supports each other throughout their academic learning, social engagements, and house activities. Academic reform will also be a key element in improving our academy. Strengthening English language skills is the top priority, while upholding the high academic standards that are necessary for entering Keio University.

With all of these beneficial enhancements in store for the academy over the next few years, I am excited to share with you this fourth edition of “Keio Academy: A Day in the Life.” I believe that the events and descriptions in the journal provide a snapshot of the plethora of experiences that make our school so unique and wonderful!
