Galatians 6:9 ESV

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

Paul penned these words 2,000 years ago, but they have never been more imperative than they are in our world today. There is a raging battle not to grow weary, tired, exhausted, and just DONE with the new way of life that began in March 2020! Of course life was challenging before 2020, but this year has brought to us things we have never seen, experiences we have not experienced, and a whole new understanding of what it means to be free. It seems to be a season we have not known before: a feeling of bondage and confinement, a desire to shake loose from something that holds us uncomfortably tight. It is a place and a feeling we have not experienced before. Most of us would say we are done with 2020. Think about this: What if things do not change? What if this is the new way of living on earth? I sure hope not, but lets say it is so. How do we manage? I believe this divine Word was given for times such as these. Life is not easy…(cont’d on next page)

Cont’d from page 1 ...but this Scripture tells us not to grow weary in well doing, because if we do not GIVE UP, we will reap a harvest! I don’t know about you, but I desire to reap a harvest of blessings and spiritual victories. So, my plan is to stay the course, not to give up, and to press forward. Though my intentions are good, I most likely will get discouraged along the way. I may WANT to give up, but I will make it a priority to keep in God’s Word of Truth. I will find time to pray, and will do my best to listen for the voice of God, and then I will leave the rest to Him! I pray you will join me and also find victory and hope in Jesus.

We Will Make a Way! Although 2020 has brought with it a “nothing is normal” theme, we will find a way. We are looking for creative ways to conduct our annual events, such as, Chili Supper, Veteran’s Day program, Grandparent’s Day program, and our popular Christmas musical.

It looks like most of these will not be able to be done in person, but we have decided not to succumb to the challenges that hinder most today, but to find a new way to MAKE IT HAPPEN! It may not transpire in our desired way, but we will find a way. Most likely, the programs will be recorded or we will go live via Facebook, YouTube, or other avenues to get the program to YOU! So MAKE SURE you regularly/daily check DOJO to keep abreast of all important updates.

Isaiah 43:19, NIV See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Homework. Why do OCE students have homework? Is it necessary?

OCE: Where lifelong friendships are made!

"But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah

Homework is assigned for many reasons, including the stimulation of spiritual, emotional, psychological, and intellectual growth. Many times, this is also vital to a student’s understanding.

PACEs and goal-setting are designed to provide bite-sized, individualized daily instruction, based upon each student’s ability. Much of the time when homework is assigned in a PACE, it is for extra study for an upcoming test or to aid a student in understanding with a difficult concept. In some cases, homework is assigned in a PACE subject because students have not used their time wisely during the day.

They have set their goals and failed to accomplish those set, achievable goals.

Most lecture classes will have homework.

There is much material to be covered, and it is not possible to do this in 45-50 minutes of class time. Most of the homework will be reading or studying class notes for an upcoming quiz or test. There will also be projects assigned and research to be done on the student’s time for class discussion.

Homework is not a punishment; it is a mechanism to teach time management and a strong work ethic. Additionally, it will assist in training students to become responsible and trustworthy workers.

If at anytime you have questions concerning work brought home by your students, contact your child’s teacher via DOJO, or request after-school meetings or phone calls. We desire to work closely with the home to provide quality education and foster unity between the school, the student, and the home.

Outreach Christian Early Academic Center Infants/Toddlers How do infants learn? Mostly babies learn from their senses: smelling, touching, seeing, and, of course, passing the taste test! It is a big, exciting world with many new adventures. Enjoy the moment-by-moment adventures with your infant. Clapping, singing, playing with texture balls and pushing and pulling are all new and exciting things. Take time to enjoy, as these days go quickly. We love our baby circle/tummy time!

Two’s Class Oh, the two’s! We are growing up and are now sitting at the table.

We are learning how to hold our fat crayon and how to color on paper. We have puppets that sing and talk to us. We are learning Bible stories and singing songs like the ABC’s and “If You’re Happy and You Know It.” We love our storybook time and doing motions to songs and stories. We are learning to listen and talk about what we have just read. We are actively preparing for Pre-Prep class!

Pre-Kindergarten (4’s) There are many K4 programs to choose from, but can I tell you that you have chosen well. OCE’s K4 program is far above average! Students who have made it through our Pre-Prep program have done amazing work, but this is another step above. Students are fully equipped to read, though we allow each student to reach this milestone when he or she is ready.

One problem that often emerges (which is a good problem in our opinion) is that if they attend kindergarten anywhere besides OCE, they are most likely going to be very bored!

We are proud of our K4 students. Just wait until the end of this school year!

Pre-Prep (3’s) There are so many things to learn! So far, we have met our new friend Abby Antelope and are practicing our writing of the letter “a” properly. We are learning valuable character traits such as “haste makes waste,” and that slowing down and doing things right the first time can save us time and effort. We are learning to work together in cooperation to build and also to understand one another. We love learning!

FAMILY Our first example of family is found in Genesis. Adam and Eve and their sons Cain and Able were the first family depicted in God’s Word. We see this family go from walking and talking with God in a perfect environment to making poor choices and having to pay the consequences. That sounds a lot like our families, doesn’t it? There are no perfect families. But there are families who serve a perfect God who loves them and cares about every need and desire they have. God is all about family. Here are a few things He has to say, from His Word: •

Genesis 1:27-28, we are to marry and bring forth children.

Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents the way the Lord wants. This is the right thing to do. 2 The command says, “Honor your father and mother.”

This is the first command that has a promise with it. 3 The promise is: “Then everything will be well with you, and you will have a long life on the earth

There are many more Scriptures pertaining to the human family. Additionally, we are also a part of the family of God. The Bible teaches that if we have been born again, we are grafted into the family of God and become His children.

Family (Cont’d from Early Academic Page) The family of God. Church, as we call it, is not a building. We, the people, are the church. We gather in buildings to do as God directed. God tells us to gather together, to encourage one another, to love and grow in Christ together. There are ups and downs, there are times of great fellowship, there are times of strife. Mostly, there are great times of gathering in unity and celebrating the best parts of being a part of the family of God.
