School Year 2021-2022 Is Here! John 6:9 “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these for so many people?” Do you know this story? This was in my reading this month. I believe God showed me something through this one verse, and it is for THIS school year and FOR YOUR STUDENT! Each of our students has been created by God the Designer and for a purpose. This little boy was probably just a typical little Jewish boy who had come (probably because his parents MADE him) to see a famous “preacher/ teacher.” He had packed a lunch: two fish and five pieces of bread. This little boy was not expecting to be part of a story that would be told for thousands of years to come. He was just obeying his parents—maybe even a little reluctantly. There are three things that changed his life and the lives of those around him and put him in a position to be used by Jesus to touch so many: 1) He came prepared. He was prepared for the long haul—not the quick fix. 2) He was willing to give up what he had for something far greater. 3) He was there, and he was available. These three simple principles, if applied daily, can become the foundation that will cause our boys and girls to achieve success in school this year and in the future. One more important message from this story is found in verse 12: “When they were filled, He said to His disciples, ‘Gather up the leftover fragments so that nothing will be lost.’” Do you know that there were 12 baskets of bread/ fish left over? When we learn to give to God—even if it is just a little—He can do MUCH with that little. Just imagine if we were willing to give Him more! Our prayer is that boys and girls will learn to trust God with their whole heart. With God the possibilities are unfathomable. May this school year be their best yet!
