beauty products but appreciate the simplicity and honesty of the organic ingredients we use. We have designed a complete range of facial and body products all created to improve general wellbeing and refine the skin’s appearance. As we say - Simple skincare that works!”

Honey

The beautifully simplistic Cornish lifestyle not only enables skincare brands to adapt to their surroundings but also to appreciate Cornwall’s natural resources. Companies such as Trevarno, Balms and Crafts, B Skincare and Spiezia use locally-sourced ingredients including Cornish sea salt, wild Cornish honey and seaweed. Small family firm B Skincare - based in the heart of Cornwall - aims to provide natural, good quality, affordable products and a first class service to its customers. Business partner Chris Pearce from B Skincare, proudly uses Cornish ingredients. He says: “Our creams are inspired by old country recipes that have been handed down over the years. We do not buy in any bases but start from scratch using ingredients such as beeswax, essential oils, infused oils, honey and flower waters.”

Not only is the world of Cornish skincare becoming a national phenomenon, beauty publications such as Vogue, Cosmopolitan and Elle often feature Spiezia and Trevarno on their recommended beauty pages. Although a large amount of products within the Cornish skincare industry are reasonably priced, it is vital for every brand to promote luxury and their most exclusive products. “It is important for every range to have a flagship product. Our ‘hero’ products sit within our Facial range, in particular Rose & Jojoba Moisturiser, Eye Cream and Overnight Replenishing Cream,” says Sarah. One of the key focuses for skincare companies is Cornwall is to be as organic and as natural as possible. This is seen not only in the raw materials used, but also in their production methods. Spiezia believes that nature does it best. Their products are developed in a unique process which uses solar and lunar energy to make the most of the air-dried herbs used. Not only does this help the way in which the ointments and balms develop, but it also increases the natural goodness in the ingredients. “We believe our products have the ability to change the appearance of suffered skin. Our facial cleanser is really beautiful and effective – it has been described as ‘bottled sunshine’ and when first created, Jo Fairley, editor of the Beauty Bible described it as ‘probably the best in the world’. However, our Calendula ointment, which is packed with soothing and nutritious ingredients, is also a massive seller as it is fantastic for eczema, psoriasis and dry and inflamed skin,’ says Amanda.

Celebrity

Choosing the right skincare products can be a tedious relationship to say the least. In a £1bn beauty industry, your judgement can often be clouded by fancy advertisements and celebrity endorsements. But ask yourself what is really important - looking after your skin? Or masking the problem? Skincare ranges in Cornwall offer what seems to be blissfully simple - but that is actually the beauty of it. Not only do they strive to be natural and organic, they also want to represent an easier way of life where beauty isn’t measured by perfection. So why not embrace the quirky smells, colours and textures, and perhaps enjoy beautifully natural skin?
