Kaaitheater 22-23 | brochure #2

Zo klinken de programmalijnen van het Kaaitheater tijdens de eerste maanden van 2023. Ze maken ruimte voor een breed spectrum aan bezoekers, artiesten, verhalen en perspectieven, en doorkruisen de vele buurten en locaties in en rond Brussel. Tijdens de renovatie van ons gebouw aan de Sainctelette Square, schrijven we een nieuw hoofdstuk, met vele stemmen, partners, podia, en publieken.

Voici les grandes lignes de programme du Kaaitheater au cours des premières mois de 2023. Elles offrent un large éventail aux visiteur·euses, artistes, récits et perspectives, et traversent les nombreux quartiers et lieux de Bruxelles ainsi que de ses environs.

Durant la rénovation de notre bâtiment du square Sainctelette, nous écrivons un nouveau chapitre, avec de nombreuses voix, partenaires, lieux et publics.

These are the sounds of Kaaitheater’s programme for the first months of 2023. They make space for a broad spectrum of visitors, artists, stories and perspectives, traversing the many neighbourhoods and locations in and around Brussels. At the same time as we are busy renovating our Sainctelette Square building, we are writing a new chapter with many voices, partners, venues, and audiences.

Welke angst(en) overwinnen, en tegen welke prijs? Hoe maken we van angst brandstof voor motivatie, zelfcompassie en wijsheid? Après s’être connecté collectivement à notre colère en septembre 2022, l’edition d’hiver sera imprégnée de PEUR. Qu’est-ce qui nous rend peureux.ses ? Qu’est-ce que la peur active dans notre corps ? Surmonter la/les peur(s), à quel(s) prix ? Et comment transformer la peur en carburant d’excitation, d’auto-compassion et de sagesse ?

En een vuur van verandering, verbinding en vreugde aanwakkeren? Après s’être connecté.e.s collectivement à la colère et à la peur, cette edition de printemps portera sur le DEUIL. Quelles sont les causes de notre chagrin ? Comment pouvons-nous vivre notre deuil ensemble ? Pourrions-nous transformer notre deuil en danse ? Et allumer un feu de changement, de connexion et de joie ?

After collectively connecting to anger and fear previously, this spring edition will be about GRIEF. What causes our grief? How could we be with our grief together? Could we turn our mourning into dancing? And ignite a fire of change, connection, and joy?

Un groupe de femmes yézidies, qui ont vécu la guerre de première main, monte sur scène. Une expulsion des blessures du passé, un moment de guérison et une célébration extatique de la survie. A group of Yezidi women, who experienced the war first-hand, takes to the stage. An expulsion of past wounds and an ecstatic celebration of survival.

Deze dansvoorstelling verwelkomt de terugkeer van enkele vrouwelijke en queer dansartiesten van kleur uit het begin van de 20e eeuw, die westerse vormen en exotisering uitdaagden in hun variétérepertoire. Un spectacle qui accueille la réapparition de quelques danseur·euse·s de couleur féminines queer de danse du début du 20e siècle, qui ont défié les formes occidentales et l’exotification dans leur répertoire de variété. A show that hosts the re-appearance of a few female and queer dance artists of color of the early 20th century, who challenged western forms and exotification in their variété repertory.

In lijn met Kaaitheater’s How to Be Many? proberen we tickets zo toegankelijk mogelijk te maken voor zoveel mogelijk mensen. In line with Kaaitheater’s How to Be Many? we hope to make tickets as accessible as possible for as many people as possible. For each performance, there is a series of prices from which you can choose. The price in colour is the suggested price. Would a lower price make it more likely that you come? Then feel free to choose that price. Can you afford a higher ticket price? That way, you can make sure that others can pay less.

The coming years, Kaaitheater is on tour. Although our building at Sainctelettesquare is temporarily closed, Kaaitheater stays open as we move around the city and its outskirts.
